No, not source, I'm talking the Counter-Strike that came out with the first Half-Life. As in, you can get this game, Half-Life, and Team Fortress for 20 bucks. Counter-Strike is that old. But it's not the most popular online shooter EVER for nothing.

This is a stand-alone multiplayer mod for Half-Life that essentially took the game's engine and slapped some guns and maps into it. It is also responsible for initiating the use of timed rounds and a buy system, where you get paid for shooting things up and buy your gear at the beginning of a round.

The game is simple, decent looking (It's NOT going to win any awards for graphics), and incredibly customizable. There are thousands of user-created maps floating around the internet. Hell, I've sniped at people from behind walls plastered with porn stars before.

If you have a working computer and a decent internet connection I'd highly recommend dropping the 20 bucks on this and Half-Life. Counter-Strike is THE staple shooter for your PC.

Nah, I used to play it all the time, even when Source was out. Quite frankly, it's an easier game to run and still has a lot more players and content than I bet Source does.

Kinda surprising though. I just really love this game.

Then you're looking in the wrong places. I've basically never had a problem finding a game on Steam.
