Phantasy Star Online, or as commonly called, PSO is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. There are several Versions developed for the Sega Dreamcast, Windows PC, Nintendo Gamecube, Microsoft Xbox, and Another installment, called Phantasy Star Universe, which follows the tracks of PSO, but will not be discussed in this Review.

The First installment of these games, is just called Phantasy Star Online. which was released on 21 November 2000 (Japan), 29 January 2001 (North America), and 23 February 2001 (Europe).

Phantasy Star Online Version 2, was later released on 6 July 2001 (Japan), 24 September 2001 (North America), and 1 March 2002 (Europe). Obviously this version includes a lot of the bugs found in the first one, fixed.
Phantasy Star Online, and Phantasy Star Online Version 2's Servers were shut down on the 1st of October, 2003.

The next release of The Phantasy Star Online games was for the PC, which was very closely related to version 2, but had a few more bug fixes.
The PC servers were shut down in January 2004.

The next big addition to the Phantasy Star Online games was the addition of Episode two. Which continued the storyline of the mysterious ruins on ragol, but it takes place in what seems to be a different area, such as the jungle and these odd ruins. The release of the second episode, Came out in a game version with the Nintendo Gamecube's, Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2.
The servers of this game were later shut down on the 26th of March, 2004.

A newer Version of Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2, was later released but it was known as version 1.1.
These servers were shut down on the 1st of April, 2007.

The same version of Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2, was later released for Microsoft's Xbox, and the servers are still up and running on that game.

Shortly After the Hack and Slash Phantasy Star Online games, there was a release of episode three, for the Nintendo Gamecube, which was also known as, Phantasy Star Online Episode III C.A.R.D. Revolution.
This game expanded the Story, and technology, with the use of virtual card battles in the game.
Note that this game's servers were shut down on the 1st of April, 2007. Which wasn't too long ago.

A third release, which removed plenty of bugs from the Phantasy Star Online games, and added much more needed content to the game, was Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2 Plus, for the Nintendo Gamecube.
These servers were shut down on the 1st of April, 2007 as well.

The Last edition of the Phantasy Star Online games that has been released is Phantasy Star Online Blue burst, which is a download able game, which includes episodes 1,2 and 4. A new release episode, which takes place in more areas such as the crater.
This game's servers are still up and running, and still has an active community.
