The first thing that I thought after playing this game for a week was: "Holy s**t, this thing might just kill Halo."
Gears of War is seriously that good. If you have a 360, not owning this seems almost criminal.
The story: The evil Locust (beings that live underneath the planet's crust) launch a suprise attack on Humanity. In desperation, the humans use missiles and orbital lasers in an effort to destroy the Locust. They fail, and also destroy most of civilization.
Enter Marcus Fenix. Put in prison for some uknown reason, you are busted out by your friend Dom after a few years. The humans have their backs against the walls and are taking anyone that will fight. Dom gives you armor, a gun, and you're plunged headfirst into war.
The game is absolutely gorgeous. Puts everything in the current next-gen game department to shame. Words cannot do this game justice.
The cover system in the game is also VERY innovative. Failure to take advantage of it will ensure that you respawn many, many times. Slamming into cover, swat turning, and roadie running may take some time getting used to, but after awhile you'll wonder how you ever did without them.
Multiplayer is the real draw of the game, and Gears fails to dissapoint on numerous levels. The games are intense and can eat up the time in a hurry. Remember when I said that Gears may be better than Halo? I think that may be true because of the multiplayer. The maps are gorgeous and the game types are different enough to keep you entertained for months. The only real problems are that the game seems to suffer more than most games when lag is present. With so many up close and personal encounters, that tenth of a second is the difference between curb stomping your hapless victim or getting dismembered with a chainsaw.
The gam's fun factor cannot be overstated. Chainsawing and curb-stomping should be shooter staples.
Uh, 9.7/10. If you have a 360, please buy this. You will NOT be dissapointed.

Gun+chainsaw+screams of agony=legendary moments of fun that you will NEVER forget (unless you get or have brain damage or something 3nodding ) not only the graphics for the game are great but so is the sound, the atmosphere the game provides is perfect. I work at blockbuster we have about 5 copies of this game for rent (none to buy.... go figure) they are late coming back even though the game itself is short (i should know since i own it XD) if you have and xbox360 buy it give yourself time to get used to the flow of the game before judging it though. Most people who dislike the game usually also comment how they thought it sucked so much they stopped after ten minutes... stressed the game is fun if you can get the flow i died 3 times in the first level before i got the flow of the game, so please if you do play this give it time before you judge it. I am not saying you're guaranteed to like the game but if you like shooters it'll be hard not to.

I haven't finished the game cause I've been playing with my cousin every so often, cause it's his stuff, but I am in love with the game. It is one of the best I have played in quite a while. I give it a 5/5 (I use a 5 star system cause it gets right to the point)

Well i got GoW at home and i will say its one the most revolutionary games that ever came out in 2006.
(plus we can chainsaw people with our guns! what can beat that??!!)
