Gabby Jay's Review of
World of Warcraft

Intro & Getting Started
The online sensation that's pretty much already swept the entire damn nation!
If you've been cozy under a rock you probably haven't heard of World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment's stellar MMORPG (that's Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, you silly).
If you haven't played, or are thinking about playing, then read on.
World of Warcraft is one of the best MMO's of all time, just ask the 9 Million (or so) fanbase across the entire planet.
It's easy to get your hands on a trial key and test the game out yourself before investing and money into it. If you have a friend who plays, he may let you borrow his discs for you to install it, and every copy of the game comes with a couple trial keys.
The trial keys activate 15 days of free, but limited, play for you to try out. You can reach level 10, with any of the game's original races. To get a trial account, you must have a valid credit card number, though you will not be charged until your trial runs out and you are prompted to buy more time.
The reason you need a credit card number is so Blizzard knows people aren't making phony accounts.
You can also download the entire original game on the World of Warcraft site. (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/)
So, so far you now have the entire original game, and 15 days of play, and you've spent $0.00. Good deal.
Once you install, there's the ordeal of installation, patches, updates. It may take a while, but, it's all worth it in the end.
Once it's all taken care of, double-click that sucker, login, choose a server (PvE, RP, PvP, and RPPvP), and we can create a character.
Welcome to Azeroth
This is very basic information. For more details, visit the official World of Warcraft site.
The world of Azeroth has HEAPS of incredibly detailed lore and back story since the dawn of time. It can be read (If you have lots of time) on the official site.
There are primarily two factions, Alliance and Horde, for you to choose from. They both have Five (Four without the Burning Crusade Expansion) Races to choose from.
Alliance - Human, Gnome, Dwarf, Night Elf, and (BC) Draenei.
Horde - Orc, Undead, Troll, Tauren, and (BC) Blood Elf.
There are Nine base classes, and soon to be, One Hero Class.
The Warrior, Priest, Paladin, Hunter, Warlock, Rogue, Shaman, Druid, and Mage.
The Hero class in the newest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, is called the Death Knight.
The Rundown (No, not the movie)
Each class is very detailed and fun to play. There is a class for every style of play you wish, and they are all deeply customizable with different spells and abilities, and a feature known as the Talent tree gives your character greater diversity in the way they work.
The levels in the original are are 1-60, with the cap raised to 70 for the Burning Crusade, and then to 80 with the new Wrath of the Lich King.
Every aspect of the game is very appealing (except maybe fishing wink ) from Soloing, to Groups and Raids, to the amazing PvP, Arenas, Battleground, Instances, and plenty more.
You will be everything but bored.
Professions also help you get money aside from the killing of mobs (monsters and creatures) as well as other activities and events.
The game is constantly updated and moderated.
The population is very healthy.
The Guild support is extremely well done, giving you customizable ranks, tabards, and plenty of other options.
There is also an Auction House, where you can sell and buy items.
The gameplay is ADDICTIVE. Story is tight. Sound is top notch.
Everything about the game is very polished and is always being improved.
There are just so many things you can do, and get lost in the game for hours.
Another great feature, Time Cards. Plop down $30, activate the code on the back, and you get 2 Months right there. No mucking about with credit cards if you don't want.
Better yet, the game actually runs on my crappy computer.
There are so many features and details I haven't even touched on, the game is so large.
Questing & Things
Quests are plentiful. They're literally everywhere.
Thanks to the hundreds, if not, thousands of quests, you'll always have something to keep you busy.
You can solo, if you like, or group with Four other people.
Raids can get much more.
Bosses, rare creatures, and other enemy players abound. There's always a reason to watch your back, especially in a PvP server.
Major cities, forests, every zone is beautifully detailed and the ambiance is perfect.
This game excels in every way.
Payment
The original game can be bought off store shelves at a measly $20, or just download it for free. The Burning Crusade expansion is probably somewhere around the game.
If you're using a credit card, you pay about $15 a month for game time. When you first activate your account, a real account, you get one month free.
You can also use $30 Game Cards which add 60 Days (2 Months) to your game time. Buy them at retail stores, scratch off the number on the back, and activate it by logging into your account on the official site, and BAM, you actually never have to use a credit card number. You can even substitute these cards in to activate your account the first time round, if you're paranoid like me and don't like to give away important things like that online.
9.5/10
I highly recommend it.
