This is an opinionated rundown of every (major) console I've run into, some recommended games for each, and a summary to close the deal. Apologies if any information is off. I'm only human. Mostly.
By all means, post a review about any system you like here, ones of done, and definitely ones I haven't, because the world isn't comprised of just my opinions.
Even though it should be.

Let's start with,
The NES (Left) and SNES (Right)

Ah, yes. For those not in the know, these would be the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Classic. Hard to find, but worth every penny. Almost every true gamer has one or more in their closet, under their bed, hell, still next to their TV.
The classic Legend of Zelda, Metroid Prime, Kirby and many, MANY, more got started here, including the famous Mario Bros.
Also where the Final Fantasy series had a couple of hits.
I strongly recommend these systems if you do not already own them.
I've run into them at lawn/garage sales but you'd have more luck on eBay.
Great memories.
The Nintendo 64

The 64, love it. Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Body Harvest, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye 007 and Turok just to name a few of the great titles.
This is the system that helped set the standard for future gaming, namely Super Mario 64 which set the stage for future 3D platformers.
Even Goldeneye 007 with it's amazing multiplayer.
Comes with a great variety of all sorts of games.
I recommend it.
The Playstation 1

Everybody's addiction in the 90's. Amazing graphics for it's time, and a slew of awesome titles to boot. Many great RPGs, Action, Shooter, Fighting, generally all types of games are here.
Final Fantasy 7-9 and more, Syphon Filter, Tekken, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Gran Tourismo, Suikoden, Silent Hill, Resident Evil and hundreds more where that came from. And lots, and lots of RPGs. A lot.
Can also play CDs.
The Playstation 2

Same greatness if not more of the PS1. Many an amazing game has graced the PS2, and from the time it was launched to the time of it's "death", it has put up a hard fight with it's competition.
Tons of great titles, online play, ability to run DVDs and backwards compatibility.
The Gamecube

Yep. Nintendo's Gamecube may have not been the best, exactly, but it IS Nintendo. Titles like Super Mario Sunshine, Legend of Zelda Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime series, Resident Evil 4, and many more. Great system for all ages.
The XBox

The big green doorstop. Just kidding. The hardcore game's system! Absolutely amazing online play with Xbox Live, and many games to go with it. Shooters, Racers, Action/Adventure, and Sports games make up most of the list, but it has many others.
Halo, too. Yeah. Gotta love ol' Halo.
The Playstation 3

Eh. Sony, how could you? I think it's way too much cash for what it's giving. Mediocre games, with the exception of a handful (Lair comes to mind). Right now, I can't even look at it. I say wait.
The Wii

Great family AND gamer system. The virtual console for everyone is actually really cool and original. Wii Sports, Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 4, Metroid, and other great games keep it fun.
It's the system you can play with your Granny.
The Xbox 360

The best right now, I think. Great games, reasonable price, still the great online we all love. Halo, Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Saint's Row, I think it's the best true gamer's console you can buy at the moment.
The PSP, Playstation Portable

I have it. I honestly regret it.
If you're not up to fully utilizing ALL of it's capabilities, it isn't for you.
There are little to no decent games for it, I can't even get my online to really work, Don't even try to do anything fancy with it unless you want to risk bricking the dang thing, and as for everything else, well, there are better peripherals out there.
Wait for the new version to come out, and we'll have a look.
~~~~~
Well, that's all for now.
Once again, I apologize of my information is off, but I try.
I hope this helps at all, though I'm sure I just sound like a broken record.
Add your console reviews as well!
