A warm breeze blew through the trees and rustled their leafy occupants, causing the scattered patches of light to shift and move. The sun was setting, almost halfway behind the horizon. The solitary violet-colored flower swayed lightly in the breeze, and a slender white paw hovered over it for a few moments, studying its delicate petals.

In an instant the flower was encased in a large chunk of solid ice, and the slender paw returned to the ground. Gwyneira tilted her head, studying her creation carefully with her crystal-like eyes. With a sigh she waved the white paw over the encased flower and the ice melted away in an instant, the water soaking quickly into the ground around the flower. The canid lowered herself to the ground, laying beside the delicate purple flower before leaning close, blowing on it carefully. Her cold breath surrounded the little flower, encasing it in a thick coating of frost. Her new creation sparkled in the waning sunlight, no longer violet but not white with frost. With a snort she lazily waved a paw over it, and yet another coating of ice melted away from the tiny flower before soaking into the soil that surrounded it.

While the sun set slowly on the horizon and breeze weaved through the grass, the air seemed to heat up ever so slightly. A hunched figure sauntered along a path gazing at the sun. Each step he took left a charred mark where his paw had been, sometimes even causing bits of dried grass to catch on fire. The canid snorted at the calmness and blew a stream of fire out of his nose.

Cinaed grew more and more bored as the minutes ticked by. He hadn't encountered anyone on his walk in a while and hoped, just a bit, that some form of life would run into him. Of course he'd only intimidate anyone and play with fire around them, which probably was the reason why no one seemed to be around in his presence. Huffing to himself, he decided to detour through the grass while trying not to let the field burst into flames.

A few more minutes passed by. Cinaed shuddered unexpectedly and straightened himself. Curious, he continued on. Soon he saw a female canid playing with a violet. The male cautiously stepped forward; however, he jumped back when a smoldering plant caused him to sneeze. He could have restrained his flames to not burn anything, but he was bored and lazy and didn't really care. Cinaed shook his head and wondered if the female noticed anything while remaining a bit doubtful because of how focused she seemed to be.

Gwyn merely blinked, lazily looking over at the fiery male. She didn't seem perturbed in the least at his sneeze and the fire that escaped from his nose. Indeed, no fire could touch her body, for it would freeze before getting within an inch of it.

Suppressing the ice that was always tempted to surround her slender paws she hoisted herself up to study the red male, her crystalesque eyes flicking over his features. She leaned to the side and noted the distinct scorched pawprints leading to his current location, and she straighted, flicking an ear idly. "Ah, it's a pleasure. I was beginning to wonder when I would see you around here. I remember hearing a little something about you. Such rare things fire elementals are," she said with a nod and a flick of her blue-tipped tail.

"Pardon my manners, or lack thereof," said the white female suddenly, tilting her head to the side a bit. "First off, bless you, that was quite a sneeze. Second off, my name is Gwyneira. Gwyn for short," she said, clicking her tongue. "What might your name be?"

Cinaed eyed Gwyn carefully, wagging his tail slowly from side to side. Ice elemental. Interesting. The male controlled the flames around his paws and sat down. He didn't want this meeting be ruined by everything catching on fire.

His eyes seemed to be dancing like a fire, the color shifting from red to orange and back, as he observed the female closely. His tail continued to sweep around as he listened to Gwyn. He turned his head away and replied with a "hmph!" His eyes turned to Gwyn. "Whatever. Same goes for you seeing you are of the ice element."

Cinaed paused before going on with his introduction. "Well, one: whatever. Two: The name's Cinaed. Call me whatever you want as long as I don't mind." The male yawned and flicked an ear. He was growing bored quickly and looked forward to sleeping. If Gwyn was of any interest to him, he might just stick around a little longer. Otherwise, he would think of an excuse and find an isolated place to snooze.

Oh darn, he could tell she was the ice elemental. That meant she couldn't surprise him with it. Oh well, there were more entertaining things to do, she supposed. And goodness, if he wanted to dispense with formalities and politeness, then so be it.

"Oh, you noticed," she said, flicking her tail. "Hardly anyone seems to. And, call you whatever you want?" That sounded promising. "All right then, though I'll need a bit to think of a good nickname for you, and believe me I'll call you whatever I want whether you like it or not."

She stood on all fours and began walking around him in a circle to study him better, icicles springing up beneath her paws as soon as they left the ground. "Tired, Cinaed? Or am I just boring you?" She quizzed, flicking the tip of her tail. She suddenly stopped beside him, studying him carefully. Such interesting eyes he had. "Show me something you can do with fire," she demanded more than asked. If he consented she would gladly show off her abilities for him, if he so desired. It wasn't often one elemental ran across another.

Cinaed grunted and kept his eyes on Gwyn. "Hmph. Maybe I shouldn't have said that then. But then again, I'd like to see just what name you come up with. If I like, I won't attack. If I don't....well you can fill in the imagery." A grin curled up on his face as he thought about his plan a bit more.

The male's attention shifted back to the female as soon as she stood up. He turned his head towards Gwyn so that she wouldn't try anything on him. He could melt any ice that was sent towards him, but he wasn't going to be lax about it. "I've been bored and was hoping something interesting would come along to entertain me. Right now I feel like taking a nap, but you seem interesting enough to keep me awake." He sneezed again and sent yet another small stream of fire out of his nose. There must have been pollens in the air since he never really sneezed often.

"Something interesting? Like what? Burn the whole field down? Juggle balls of fire? Melt stuff? Fireworks?" He barked out his answer, taking Gwyn's request as a command. He hated nothing more than being forced to do things. His eyes glowed with anger as he tried to remain calm. Last thing he wanted to do was to burn the field down.
