Okay, everytime I open the newspaper and go to the editorial and opinnion pages, there are aways someone comparing Hugo Chavez with Hitler. I turn on the tv and watch the same stuff. And I just wanted to ask it this hate campaign towards him just happens where I live or does it happen in other places besides Venezuela?.

Lady Merewyn *shrugs* Its the reductio ad Hitlerem logical fallacy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reductio_ad_Hitlerum It's a generalization used by people as means to deamonize them on past figures that society thinks is bad.

Basically the mass media of almost every country will not say anything good about Chavez. The reasons for this are the fact that they do not want socialism to happen in Venezuela or anywhere for that matter. The main thing the media wants to do is to make sure that Chavez gets as little support as possible. With no support it makes the struggle for socialism even harder. If youwant to know more about Venezuela or Hugo chavez you can ask me any specific questions you want and I should probably be able to answer as I am a member of the Hands of Venezuela campaign. You can also check out the website http://www.handsoffvenezuela.org/Also you should check out the video no volveran in the beggining there are some opening statements from Chavez, I found it to be quite powerful. http://www.handsoffvenezuela.org/venezuela_dvd_no_volveran_3.htm The video is at the bottom of the page.

Also in the video you will see that they compare Venezuelas right wing to being very much like hitler.
But Chavez being anything like hitler is quite plainly ridiculous.

The CPUSA's current vice-chairman Comrade Elena spoke not so long ago on MSNBC regarding the Chavez government - the video ought to still be on their website (yes it was prime-time too :p).

This makes me sick.
I don't understand how people can be so blind as to not see the motives behind the media in portraying Chavez as the devil. If anything, America was built on the ideals of socialistic prosperity, the Founding Fathers putting forth ideals much like modern socialistic ideals. If anything, Chavez is more of an american than our money grubbing, oil hungry, rotten pig stealing great great grandfather President...

Hard for some in the US to listen to the propaganda about the poverty Chavez brings Venezuala, partially because Venezuala is paying for heating for many in the Northern US.

Because New England uses natural gas instead of heating oil and gets it from Canada and parts of the US along with all the states around the Great Lakes, though I see your point past that area. As others said, its mainly the rich that believe this and those foolish enough not to think for themselves, which comprise a small amount of the population. Just they own the media so we hear them more often.

The forefathers are probably rolling in their graves right now because of what america has become. domokun What makes me angry isn't the fact that we are demonizing Chavez, but rather that when other dictators have made moves secure their own power, America tends to look the other way, unless they are against us. For instance Shah Reza Khan forced his people to dress like Europeans and had a seacret police that tore the veils of of Iranian women and made Mullahs have to sign a form to wear robes and preach the Qur'an, but since he was our b***h and gave us his oil, we didn't care. The Aparthied Party put up segregation and promoted racism in South Africa for decades, but they outlawed the Communist party making them America's ally. No, Chavez should not have silenced his opponents, but why do we point our finger at him whilst our own nation has been trying to bully Cuba into giving up on being the only working Socialist nation, or invaiding Iraq to gain a millitary beachhead in the middle east (like Israel wasn't good enough). We have become even more hypocritical as we have begun to torture prisoners without trial, the very thing we accused Castro of doing. On a more topic related note, the United States may have aided rebels in a coup d'etat against Chavez in 2002, so if I were him I would certainly beleive Bush to be a "pedejo" or "el diablo."
