Guidelines of RP!
If you're going to start your own thread of RP, and you wish to state your own rules/guidlines, please do so before the RP starts and make them clear for all who join.
1.Don’t be a cheap poster, but don’t need to go over board. Just post what you think gets to the point. No need to post how your hair flows in the wind when you walk and what your clothes look like.
Example One:
- A Good post – So-and-so walks into the bar room, strutting about to gain someones attention. Sitting down, she falls off the stool and lands on the floor with a thud. Moaning, embarrassed, she quickly runs out the bar….
- Bad Post- So-and-so walks into the bar room, her hips elegantly going back and forth as she walks, her hair flowing as she walks, her shoes making light little clacking sounds as she steps. She flips her hair, showing off her totally out-standing appearance, catching the eye of every guy. She steps up to the red leather bar stools, ready to sit her comy a** down… Whatever, you get my point.
Don’t exceed what you don’t need. That’s what a profile is for. But don’t lack in your posts either.
Example Two:
- So-and-so walks into the bar and sits down on the stool, and falls. She ran away.
Didn’t that seem a bit boring?
2.And don’t forget dialogue when you’re speaking. Try to add some sort of dialogue to at least every second post, other wise your silence can hold the story up! Your dialogue should fit your character. And add adjectives to make your characters character come out!
Example Three:
- A good post: “Hey! Hey you! Stop I said,” the officer shouted.
- Annnd….: “Hey. Hey you. Stop I said.”
Notice the extra ! I added? Adds zing too.
3.Don’t be a God Modder! Nobody likes that! Don’t know what a god-mod is? It’s somebody who tries to control a situation that gives them the upper hand in a situation. Nobody likes this, it’s cheating and it’s unfair. If you feel like your being god-mod’ed, then let Banche know. He’s top dog, and he shouldn’t stand for that either. And perhaps somebody doesn’t realize they’re god-modding, just ask politely and point something out if you think it’s unfair before you take something too serious!
Example Four:
- Good idea: After taking the blow to the stomache, So-and-so stumbled to their feet. With some will and hope left, he/she reached into their pocket to retrieve the last MP. Now some magic restored, he/she sent out a powerful attack back at the oppenent, hoping to hit.
- Baaaad idea: After taking a blow to the stomach, So-and-so jumped back to their feet, not even fazing him/her. Sending back a powerful magic attack back at the oppenent, sending them into the ozone layer with sero HP left….
I’m sure you get it….
4.RPing is about having fun. Don’t feel obligated to do so or pressured into doing an action or story that doesn’t feel comfortable to you! RPing is a welcoming game for all to explore new characters and stories. Wheee!!!!
Example Five!
- Good idea: “Hey, let’s go on an adventure to save the princess! So-and-so, do you want to come?”
- Bad idea: “Hey So-and-so… I have a comfortable bed….”
Ummm… I’ll let you decide on that. Those are rather opinionated examples.
Oh, and 5. Don't be impatient when waiting for someone to post, but don't take your time. Since we're in a forum, it's okay to post when you can. But try not to make people wait upon you.
Example Six:
- Good Idea: In an actie RP, try posting at least five times a day, with an active post and dialogue! In a steady RP, post at least once a day.
- Not so good: In an active RP, posting once ever day or two days. It slows things up and you won't keep up with others and the story!
Don't be scared to jump into an RP in progress, just make yourself an entrance that follows the story! And if you drop out, please let people know. Also! Try not to post more frequent then everyone else. It may rush the RP while others can't keep up, and doesnt give others the same oppurtunities.
