A long while ago--over eighteen years ago, actually--a man over-came his addiciton to Drugs and Alchohal simply because he married the woman of his dreams and found The Lord. This man had killed a man and gotten away from it. This man had been in accidents that should have taken his life. This mans mind was beyond repair. But this man found his dream girl, and together they lived and married and found God.

One night he had a dream. He had a dream that his Wife was pregnant, and that it was his son. In this dream he was given a name for the son, and told that great things would come of him. "He will be The Giver of Many."

During the next week, he found out his wife was indeed pregnant. They had their son a year later and gave him the name that was given to him. They raised him, and eventually had a brother.

Sadly enough, the wife and father had to go through bank-rupcy. Even still, they worked very hard to raise their children right and to give the family what they wanted.

The boys both got into video games. The boys both attended Church, although they didn't want to. The boys went to a babysitter during the weeks/weekends because their mother and father both worked full time. One as an accountant, the other as a baker.

They both grew up around a Christian atmosphere, and they both visited and spent the night at their Grandma's house every weekend.

And by coincidence, because of the need to keep their house, their Grandma came and visited their father; she said that the Senior Center was offering a job mowing lawns, and that it would be a nice way to earn some extra money in order to keep their house and whatnot.

So the father took the job. What came was 10 years of suffering.

The family had to work together to keep up with the growing number of lawns they had to mow. Still, they found time for leisure--video games, hunting, the few friends that the boys had. The oldest boy was harshly made fun of in middle school, and borderline suicidal. Unfourtunately both boys had given up their faith due to the fact they no longer attended Church.

Still, father believed in God. He charged only ten dollars for mowing lawns instead of twenty five (the recommended charge for earning money.) He never got far because of this.

There was a man who came along. His son became best friends with the fathers son. They played games and had fun. But this man got the father into contracts for mowing lawns with big places. Got him a contract to mow the rest areas fifty miles away in a different city.

By this time the father had employees under him, and was struggling to keep everything paid off. The contracts that were given to him were hard to keep up with, and he constantly had to do more in order to come out making enough to feed his family. He even still worked as a baker.

Well, the fathers friends and employees abandoned him when he got the rest area job. That is because the man who said he would help him got him to sign the contract for less than he should have.

So, the father knew he was alone. He hired new workers. He couldn't just quit. He had even started smoking Marijuana again to make it so his broken body didn't respond to the pain.

He got broken. He got pissed on. There was never enough money.

During these years, the oldest sons Uncle died. His cousins--drinkers and alchohalics--as well as his aunt moved down to live with them. With all the pressure and pain, as well as the fact that there was never enough money, the oldest son was left in shambles. He constantly broke down. He never had enough friends. He stuck to his computer and his games for happiness. He never looked to God.

As it so happened, his mother had a heart attack. This put the family even further in debt. Soon after, his Grandmother--the one responsible for getting them the first mowing jobs--died. Such a loving woman.

The father quit all his mowing jobs in the town, as well as all his contracts, in order to keep up with the rest area. He did the work on his own. He was in constant pain. A waystation he had bought in order to put the Human trash he picked up helped for a while--he fixed it up and made it nice again, but the renters soon kicked him out for no reason. The father made friends. The father lost friends. There were constant tears.

One man could be blamed--the one that got them the rest area contract. The Son of this man and the son of the father were still close friends, but now were seperated.

Still, the father had some faith in God. He knew that the family would come through. He knew that even after his wifes heart attack, the death of his Mother In Law, and the financial collapse of his entire family, that somehow they would make it through.

There were more fights. More tears. There was more hate.

Still the oldest son played his games. His only friends were those on the internet. He hated the world for what it was doing to his family. High School had started, and he still thought there was no hope. However, he did begin to start making friends.

The Rest Area's contract finally finished. Through the years the father had done the best job cleaning the rest area--he had the most clean rest area in the state, as rated by the state itself (the state that sometimes didn't get his checks to him ontime, causing food shortages and gas shortages in the family). As said, it was the cleanest. He re applied for the contract, but this time for the right amount of money. Again, there was hope.

The contract was turned down and someone else got it. The father was left completely jobless, as he had quit baking 2 years into the four year contract.

So he tried to find a job. Again, a man came by. The same man that had gotten him into the contract at the rest areas. By this time th father had forgiven him, and was willing to accept a job at the news paper. With his wife unable to work (her heart was too much of a liability for her to be hired anyway, as well as her ability to have seizures) he accepted the job willingly. The first night he delivered, he had a heart attack.

The oldest son was now a sophmore in High School, and when he found out was almost shattered. His father had lived, but barely.

He remembered trips to Colorado with his father. He remembered seeing his father in tears many times. He remembered how hard his father had fought for them.

After the fathers heart attack, after he had healed, he began to work for the newspaper again. Delivering, of course. But the man that had visited him and gotten him to do it betrayed him again. The father was desperately sick and needed two nights off. The man said he'd do it for my father, but then when he didn't turned around and said that the father had never asked him for help.

Without a job, the family lost their house.

The Husband of the deceased Grandmother decided to give them his house. They moved, and tried once more to get back on their feet.

By this time the oldest son had found Love. He had found love over the internet, but even still it was love. He pursued it.

He had kept his so called Love from hurting herself after her mother died after cancer. They were close. They supported each other. They even took the time and money to meet each other.

The Oldest Son was still making friends in school. He was becoming happier, even though his families dire circumstances had lead them into a dark corner. No money. Barely any food. He saved up his own money, coin by coin, to see his Love.

He believed in fate. He believed thats how his family was the way it was, and thats how he had met his love. His closest friend, someone who had been there for him during the previous summer, was also helping him.

Things went eve more wrong. The father found some odd jobs, did all he could. Never got any further.

Late in the oldest sons Sophmore year, he was invited by friends to a Church Field in order to play Ultimate Frisbee. This was where he started making his true friends, and this was where he had his fun outside of the computer and his house.

During his Junior Year he actually found out that the man who coached the Ultimate Frisbee games was a youth pastor. His friends got him to start going to a Youth Group, and although he was skeptical, he made even more friends and had a lot of fun with the friends he already had. He laughed alot, and he enjoyed life. He even took part in a play. Everything was fine that year except for his jobs and his family. But he was slowly being pulled more closely to God by a man named David. Dave was the Church's Youth Pastor, and he was the one who convinced the oldest son to enjoy life and learn from the Youth Group. In a way, he was like the oldest sons second father.

During his Junior Summer he got further into computers, and further into the Youth Group. He got new, close groups of friends, that were all separate. Sadly, his love decided to leave him. His best friend was there for him during this time, and it indeed was very trying--especially because of the fact his family had still failed to get out of debt, even though they had lost their house.

During his senior year, though, he made even more friends. He was happy at school, and he was happy at youth group.

However something happened. The Church that he went to was in a very high amount of debt, and the pastor had resigned. But before she resigned, she had a meeting and decided that certain positions in the church would be undermined or eliminated in order to /pay even more for a new pastor/ but still eliminate some of their debt.

The entire Youth Group was sickened when they found out Dave's position was being undercut, and that because he had a large family, would have to quit his job. The process to actually come to that decision took a long time, but everyone knew it would happen.

The Oldest Son spent every day with his best friends after school at that Church with the man who had inspired him to tiptoe into Gods Kingdom. They had fun times, but they all knew that something bad was happening.

On the night of the decision, everyone wished Dave luck and had to leave, for it was happening after Youth Group and school was in the morning. As the oldest son walked out with his midget friend, they were talking about how bad it was, almost in tears. Chris, the oldest sons friend, told him that he did not want to leave Dave in there. The Oldest Son convinced him that they should stay.

They went back up and found Dave. They had not even allowed Dave to sit in on the meeting. Dave asked what they were doing there, and the oldest son replied, "We can't just leave you here Dave. That's wrong." Dave ordered them to go downstairs and wait.

Finally, when the decision was made, Dave came down in tears. Hugs between the oldest son, Chris, and Dave were exchanged, and no one was happy.

He would have to leave.

The entire Youth Group of the church was in utter loss. Most of the Youth had actually grown up with Dave. And now they and undermined his position? Forced him to leave? There were other ways of going about eliminating Debt. The Pastor, before she left, made it a point to annihilate the Church's community.

That Christmas was a cold one for the oldest son. Although he spent much time with his friends, and spent much time loving them and life, he was still cold. He knew, however, because of his experiences in the Church, that something good may happen. That there was hope.

There came a new pastor. A man that made the congregation smile. A man that was perfect for the entierty of the Church. He brought everyone back together and spent time with the youth.

The Oldest Son found it in himself to keep going to the Youth Group with his best friends. Found that he would keep helping, and keep having fun.

During one day on something called Youth Sunday, the Oldest Son prayed for the entire congregation during two services. The first person to raise his hand was the new pastor. Each time, the pastor asked for a safe trip to see his grand children. And each time, the oldest son asked that prayer for him.

Later that night during youth group a man came in and asked if any of the oldest sons friends had seen the pastor. No, they replied. He had left earlier in the day. This worried the man though, because he hadn't arrived at his destination.

It was later that they found out that this new pastor had gotten in a car accident and died because of it.

Again, the entire Church was in shambles, and the only thing that kept the oldest son praying with God was the fact that he had a mission trip to go on during the summer.

The Oldest Son stood strong in his faith. Eventually, during the summer, he even started losing some of his best friends. He was losing his faith in Humanity. He had made many friends, and had even become Prom King of his school. He was loved by many and hated by none. He graduated, even though he barely made it through. If it wasn't for his friends helping him, he would have never made it.

But on the trip, he learned beautiful things. He helped a child. This child said he hated where he lived. He said he hated his family and his friends. He said he just wanted to move away.

The Oldest Son told him that that was okay; that he felt the same way too. He told him, though, that he should stay a friend with his friends anyway, because someday they may be eternally grateful. He told him to do good in school, so that someday he really could move away. And he told him that, above all else, place your faith in Jesus and Jesus only, because if you wait long enough, if your patient, good things will come.

After that trip, he was even stronger in his faith. He knew to be patient and to wait, and that although things were bad there was always the chance of improving. Even though his family was becoming financially worse, he knew that someday they would be repaid for their pain.

The oldest son, needless to say, was still very devestated by what was going on. But after the trip, he had a renewed spirit and had seen the face of love.

He read a book over the summer. A book titled, "The Irresistible Revolution." This Book crystalized his faith, and instilled doubt in what he wanted to do with his life. It disturbed him. It made him want to become what a True Christian should be, instead of what some fake Christians are.

Right now, he is in College. Right now, he's praying for guidance and figuring out what to do.

But right now he has an assured faith in God and himself. He knows through God all things are possible. And he knows he has to be patient.

He's walking one way. The worlds walking the other.

I am Mother Sky. I was created by this person seven years ago, because of his pain. I am the personafication of what was going on, and I am one of his closest friends.

He is me and I am him. This is his story, and I think it deserved to be shared. His name is Joshua.

I am Joshua. I hope maybe this renews some peoples faith. Even though my family is still in absolute loss, and even though I'm surrounded by people who've lost hope or have moved on, I still believe.

My friends all disappoint me. Most of them drink or smoke now. Most of them lost their faith. Most of them are just simply lost.

But I believe with enough Love anything is possible. Being Christian is truly loving, no matter what, and always keeping an understanding and open mind. I forgive the pastor who destroyed the Church. I forgave the man who ruined my family. I forgave myself for being a wretched human being, and although I still am, I know I'm beautiful too.

If anyone read all of this, I thank you with all the kindness in my heart.

Salaam~

Heh. . .yeah. It's really my life story. I didn't want to go into too much detail, but I figured I'd post this for anyone who got bored someday. Inspiring, I'd say. Made me cry multiple times.

Hopefully it's not too boring, xD.

Sad story. As an atheist... well, I would attribute the credit to people in his (your?) life and his own determination. "When hope is all you have, you can't afford to lose it." Kudos to him for his fortitude. sad

Long copy pasta is long.

Quote:
The boys both got into video games.

As I was reading through it, that sentence confused me the most. Why? Because it's said like it's a bad thing. Why is it that so many Christians are avidly against video games?

I love video games and I'm a Christians. It's not a bad thing until you start putting them before God. Like playing video games instead of reading your Bible or praying. Otherwise....they're not bad. My youth pastor even loves video games!
