The Castle

Situated on top of the hill and behind the double walls, this castle is the home of the baron and headquarters of the guard. It's a large building with a lot of history
Usually only the servants and the guards travel up and down the curvy road that connects the castle to the city, but occasionally a local will travel up there to discuss matters with the baron, or the baron himself travels to the town or the forest

Forest Hill

A high slopped hill that seperates the castle from the city. That same slope made impossible for houses to be built there, one of the reason the forest that once existed there was kept untouched
Despite being forbidden to harm those trees, the private forest is open for anyone who wants to visit it. Many locals go there in the warmer days to enjoy a nice break from their daily lives

It had been some time, but eventually whisperings and words had trickled their way though Loghedge about the strange new arrivals in town and made their way to the Baron. He did know about Raye, and she was now a guest in his castle, but he hardly believe his ears when guards and other people told him there were more people that were rumored to have come from lands and places not known, Randall Thrydwulf sent orders to the town guards to find them, and bring them to the castle, to see if this was true.

So the Baron waited in his Library, a great room with tall ceilings, many shelves of books, plenty of seats, a large fireplace, tapestry covered walls and large windows that provided a wide view of Loghedge.

Karin had been rather easy to pick out as someone not native to the town. Following Jonas' advice, she had shed as much of her outlandish gear as possible, leaving it in the room he'd loaned her.

However, that had still left her wearing bright yellow boots.

Her station shoes just weren't up to the task and she couldn't bring herself to ask her benefactor for yet another favor after he'd already done so much. But Karin was determined to take a closer look at this 'Loghedge', so obnoxious boots it was.

The firefighter hadn't gotten far into her investigation of the town, before she'd been approached by the guards. Not inclined to make a scene- and she was the odd one out here, wasn't she? she might not stand out as much as in her full uniform, but she wasn't oblivious to the suspicious looks -she simply accepted the escort with as much grace as she could muster.

Besides, there was no overt threat and this might be a chance to get some real information about the situation.

Of course there was poor Alex. He had still been out in the forest, but not so far as to get lost. In fact, it wouldn't be unthinkable that he had been doing some of his 'fishing' out by the stream. The river stream made it easy for him to find his way back to town.

Sure, Alex could have found something less... flamboyant to wear since he'd arrived, but his clothes were as much a part of him as who he was. It was the one thing that still connected him to his beloved PBY. So yes, poor Alex found himself in the company of some local guards, being escorted to who knows where.

Alex might have tried to avoid the guards, or get away, but he'd dealt with local officials in different countries. Some had wanted information, others wanted bribes, and few wanted to run the pilot out of their lands. He was pretty sure that this wasn't the latter, otherwise the guards would probably have been acting a lot more overtly aggressive towards him. No, something else was going on, so no need to worry.

Not yet anyways.

The pilot adjusted his goggles as they sat on his forehead, walking between the two guards as they lead the way. He just hoped that maybe some answers might be at the end of his escort, not a nice jail cell.

It felt like he stepped through a time machine that landed in the middle ages. The village of shacks cottages and barns felt unsettling. Having buildings as tall as him did that to a city dweller used to the sight of block-long buildings towering over him. The village was so rustic that even the Amish would have a hard time following their act, from their wood paddle technologies to the way people acted around here, Cecil wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between this place and the Middle ages.

Cecil had strayed from Miss Dautry for one moment to write something to someone, and before he knew it, he found himself getting dragged away by a couple of burly guards that looked like winners of a Rennisance faire costume contest. Okay, Cecil was asked first, but after a minute or two of silence as he wrote down the questions he was going to ask, they assumed him to be impolite, and decided to use force instead.

Unable to protest verbally, Cecil tried shoving his kidnappers. a Impatient-New-Yorker-in-the-crowd kind of shove. A heavy duty shove that did more than just push people out of the way. Fists flew wildly as he struggled to break free of the guards' iron grip. Armor, as Cecil found out first hand (Or fist, in this case), was heavy, and hard. Unkown to him, another guard came behind the trio. Something fell down hard upon his neck, and Cecil faded out of conciousness like a dying match.

He was carried side by side by the two guards.

One of the things that caused Rick to slide away from the average person's eyes was simply how much black he wore. Mingling that with the tan of his skin, and he looked fairly exotic, but slightly concealed. Unfortunately and contradictory, this was one of the things that made him stand out rather easily.

He spotted the guards moving towards him out of the corner of his eye. Their resoluteness made him believe that they could only be going for him. Quietly, he slipped through the crowds, using them to his advantage as he guided his lithe body past them, nearly serpentine in his movements until at last, he found himself in an alleyway, nowhere to run. Several seconds later, the guards emerged from the crowd, explaining their purpose and his lack of choice. With a shrug, he allowed himself to walk with them. In this place, he needed to get on as good of terms as possible. Besides, if the guards thought him complacent, they'd probably treat him better than the others who'd resist.

After several minutes of being led, only by the gauntleted hands on his shoulders whose grip had slowly slackened once they were sure of his lack of will to run, he found himself lead into the Baron's castle.

“B-b-but s-sir” Jamie stuttered in a sudden a panic as the guard took his arm and pulled him away. “S-she gave i-it to me r-really” referring to the tart he still held in both hands to his chest.

Jamie was terror stricken, inside anyway. He shut up after his first indelible stuttering. There wasn’t much point now, the guard was far too strong from his to struggle away from, and he’d have to go with him. But maybe, just maybe he could get some help from wherever he was being taken, maybe then he could call home, or explain what happened to him. (Not that he had much to explain) He let the guard take him up to the castle, remaining as quite as ever.

"Don't worry lad, this isn't about the tart, and you're not in trouble, so relax now, all we know is the Baron would like to talk to you and some other folks that have inexplainably shown up in the last few days." the guard explained as he escorted Jamie into the castle. The other guards quietly brought Jamie and the others into the castle, leading them though the halls and up to the Library, where the Baron was waiting for them.

The Baron waited by one of the large windows as the guards brought their guests up into the Library, and motioned for them to take a seat, but frowned when he saw that Ceril was unconscious as he was set into a chair, but something was waved under his nose to try and get him to wake up.

"You were told not to be rough with them" Randall scowed at the guard by Ceril.
"Sorry my Lord, he struggled and tried to get away.." the guard tried to explain as the Baron cut him off with a pound of his cane on the floor.

"These are our guests, and you'll be cleaning the stables tomorrow, now that will be all, guards, please wait outside, I'm sure our guests have alot of questions, and we have much to talk about." the Baron said as the guards then left quietly.

"Now then...let me introduce myself, I am Baron Randall Thrydwulf, and I welcome you all to Loghedge. As you have probably realized, you are quite far from home, and are strangers here, but I have brought you here to both answer your questions, and also learn of how you found your way here"

"I woke up here." Having seated herself a fair distance from the fire, the firefighter looked at the motley crew that had been (forcibly) gathered along side her in the Library, sparing a thought for the unconscious boy and glad she hadn't attempted any resistance to the guards.

And Jonas hadn't mentioned other people in her situation. Then again, maybe he hadn't know. She tried not to stare, but couldn't help herself. Not with the reoccuring thought that one of them might know why and how this had happened and most importantly, how to go home. Karin focused on the Baron. He was in charge of this town. Maybe he was behind it?

Such suspicious thoughts worried her. She didn't like being so unnerved. Her fingers tapped on the chairarm, an unconscious reaction of nervousness.

"That's all there is to it," she continued with a small shrug. "There was a fire, I was part of the response team. Somehow, I passed out and when I came to, I was in the woods nearby. That was yesterday." There. She'd said her piece. Let someone else ask the questions.

Alex looked over the motley crew of folks who had been gathered up by the guards. He raised his eyebrow a bit as he took note of each, before turning his attention to finding someplace to sit down.

"Well, I was resting in my PBY, and then next thing that happened to me is I wind up out in the forest, and spend the next few days wandering around in that mass of trees, trying to find civilization." Alex had spent more than enough time outside, and at the moment, he wasn't in the mood to be hiding the truth. Sure, he wasn't telling all the details, but it was better to skip some of the ones that might give the 'locals' a headache.

He looked at the others, then over to Karin. "Response team? Hmm. Where at?", he asked her. "I'm from Manilla, but originally was in Cali." If the others were like him, they'd probably understand him, unlike the mayor most likely. Maybe one of them knew what the hell was going on.

Pow.

Cecil practically exploded from his seat when he snapped back into concousness. He snapped up and spun around the room in a cautious 360. Where was he? What's going on? What happened? thoughts ran through his mind in one giant gaggle of questions. He looked at the people in the room, from the normal looking crowd of modern day persons to the eccentricly dressed Baron.

There was a lost, confused look on his face.

He patted himself down and found his bag. Cecil pointed at Jamie who happened to be closest to him. Doing a "You there!" glare, he strided over to the kid. The mute took out his notebook and pen, and scribbled a note,

Hey kid, it said, You know what's going on here?

The Baron looked between the gathered group and their odd and... foreign clothing. "So is that the truth for all of you? you were all on your own, and then though unknown means, awakened in what we call Ironwood forest?"

Randall tapped his fingers on the head of his cane as he thought about this
"there is a woman named Raye that has a similar story, she is currently resting in one of the guest chambers and is unwell at the moment, apparently wild boar didn't sit well with her stomach. But the point is....you all seem to be Strangers here, not just to Loghedge, but to Athlaias itself, and this is troubling, because if this is true.... then it is a most rare occasion, since nothing like this has happened in known memory for many generations."

It was quite a long walk back towards the town, but luckily she had a strong arm to support her. The conversation was to say not very riveting at all, in fact they were very tight lipped but then again she had never really taken to small talk. It always seemed too trivial and shallow. They did tell her that the Baron had heard of people dressed as she was appearing in the realm and had asked for them all to be welcomed as guests in his home.

The town was nothing she had ever seen before. Truly this company was dedicated to the re-enactment of this time period, even the beggars in the streets. Luckily they were headed towards the largest building there a large manor on a hill. Quite lovely, but obviously they did not have plumbing, goodness! The garden on the hill was lovely but she was told that there was no time to look but if she wished, she would be allowed later to look. She thanked them and continued on her way. Through the large doors of the entrance and passing through many winding and cold hallways she was lead to another room. A heavy wood door barred her entrance but the guards graciously opened them and showed her inside. There she found a group of people all who were similarly dressed as her except for one man, who was dressed for the times. Ah there Cecil!

"Cecil! There you are young man, I had hoped nothing vile had befallen you. And now to meet here truly God was watching out for you. But really you shouldn't just disappear like that what if some dangerous animal had found you?" Blythe both welcomed and gently chastised, she really was too tired for anything else.

Karin turned to the man in the aviator's jacket. "Ah, North Carolina, in the US." She paused a moment. "Manila? That's... in the Phillipines, right?" She shook her head. "This is crazy." She frowned, massaging her temples in a vain attempt to soothe the headache that was rapidly building.

"Wait, wait, wait. This has happened before?" The firefighter was floored by the Baron's revelation. "This isn't some joke, right? Not some insane set up for some lame-a** reality TV show, not some ren-fest gone too far?" She slid to the edge of her chair, her expression incredulous and bordering on alarm. "You expect us to believe that we've suddenly just appeared in another world?" That explanation did have a ring of truth to it. It just sounded so permanent. Karin didn't want to believe it.

The arrival of yet another person in the same predicament was a welcome distraction. She rested her head on her hand, looking about the room. Surely someone else would say something that would prove otherwise. Surely.
