Appearance: Anatoly's Russian heritage shows to the extent that his skin is a bit lighter than would be expected of someone fully Chinese. He tends to wear black slacks and black button-down shirts, sometimes with white undershirts because he thinks he looks best with those. He has short black hair and wears thin brown-framed glasses.
Short Bio: The son of a first-generation Russian immigrant and a second-generation Chinese man, Anatoly grew up on the West Coast in various states at different times, eventually staying in California for his last 3 years of high school. At that time he picked up an interest in physics, eventually studying it and going to a decent but relatively unknown small college where he decided to simply make a career teaching physics. In his second year of college, his parents moved again, this time without him, leaving him in the most economically stressful years of his life with no source of income but his part-time job. He picked up a small amount of mixed martial arts from a friend in the next two years. A the end of his third year of college, he had to arrange a year to rebuild his finances before he could finish his college education.
After four years of college and the intervening break-year, he began to teach high school physics. His jobs brought him to progressively worse neighborhoods. His most recent job involved him hospitalizing a student who attacked him with a knife. Despite it being an act of self-defense, he was fired and he was stripped of his teaching certification. Sick and a little off-kilter from what had happened, he sold almost everything he owned and began to drive, taking a handgun with a small box of ammo, as well as a knife and a bokken.
Anatoly is a perpetually uncertain and self-doubting man who dramatically overcompensates by exaggerated sarcasm and over-the-top melodramatic joking. He dislikes many people but paradoxically is rarely happy when not in the company of others. His former idealism has been tempered by his experiences in his more recent years.
