Smak has seen the layout for the new marketplace
http://www.gaiaonline.com/marketplace/
Not sure if everyone can see it but that is the link to it.
Smak found that she like some features and felt overwhelmed by many of the others. The Admins say that it will be easier than the old marketplace, But Smak fails to see how. It seems more complicated and rather confusing at first glance. What Smak can tell you is that there is a 2% fee that Gaia deducts from your sale item. The fee is supposed to help keep down Gaia inflation.(i.e. Greedy merchants that post insane prices)
Smak has gone into the discussion forums about it, and Smak sees that the bulk of the complaints are coming from the aforementioned greedy merchants. Lol.
What they fail to understand is that 2% is not that much to have taken out. Well, Smak will wait to see how it pans out.

Smak forgot to say that now maybe people can get those once seemingly impossible to get items.
Also the other concerns from Gaians was that bringing down prices may affect the worth of their MC's that they have held onto for investment purposes.
If it were the real world Smak would also be concerned. But they are pixels after all. sweatdrop

Yeah the link says it's in Beta testing. So only those that bought MC's can see it Smak. Too bad you didn't get a screenie. I know you don't know how. Neither do I.

DARKNRGY Wow, what a response! Its been a while since I've worked on such a large project and I've forgotten how passionate we all can be when it comes to Gaia. We've gotten great feedback so far and I'd like to try to get a word in about the 2% fee before...its too late razz . The reaction we've seen to the 2% charge has been overwhelmingly negative. On one hand we expected some negativity, but on the other we thought many users would see the benefits. Its actually sparked quite the debate here, and while we are not completely opposed to removing the 2% charge, we do have good reasons for putting it in that we hope will benefit Gaia in the long run. We're hoping to debate this further and try and come to a consensus on whether or not we should do this. Thanks very much for your comments and suggestions! Feel free to use this thread to debate the 2% charge. The audience is listening. This what was one developer has had said.

Smak first off great report, it nice to see that you are giving everyone who hasnt seen the new marketplace a chance to get a visual inside look. i am not sure how to take a snap shoot of it or would have to help out.
this is what i think of the new marketplace. the layout is very professional in a look that has a more modern layout similar to a real (stock or trade) market. most of the features they have added are also nice and helpful. giving both a monthly and yearly graph of the economy of gaia is something nice to look at. the wishlist that is also added is great too. the one thing i would have like to have seen though with the wishlist part is having something that tells you that an item you are looking for was added to the market. unlike now you still have to search for it.
as far as the 2%, its really not all that bad... 2% is very low really in all fairness. but some items in the market dont even add up to 2%, so gaia bank is not really making anything off of your sells. i am still not sure how it will play out till after the testing is over and everyone is on the same market and the new market has a chance to balance out.
