Did you know that cacti only grow in North America. There are many species all over the earth that have similar traits but the actual species of cacti are native to North America.

We all know how annoying Lawns are right? Keeping out the weeds. Keeping up a healthy green colour. Keeping it perfectly mowed and watered.
Well did you know that lawns were once used to show your status in society? The bigger the lawn and the better maintained the lawn the higher your status and the more wealthy you were appeared to be. You had to hire servants to cut the grass perfectly, pulls weeds and water all by hand, like you'd get out there and do it yourself. Dirt? On a Noble's hands? Not likely. They had no lawn mowers or herbicides to do that stuff for you after all.

You are quite right Lashleta! Any cacti-looking plant in other countries is not truly a cacti. Some are in the family Euphorbiaceae or euphorbs(pronounced U-forb). How can you tell? If you break parts of the euphorb off, a milky latex will come out. It is quite toxic. Want another example of a euphorb? How about the pointsettia. That's why you don't chew on that common Christmas plant. And the flowers of said pointsettia...are not the large red leaf-like things. It is a tiny thing in the very center. Look closely next time.
Well Bob, I guess I'm not a high society person. Because I like a bit of creeping charlie growing in my lawn! I like the variety. And anyway...if you spray herbicide all over your lawn, you don't much want to roll in the grass later! I think that even today manicured lawns can be symbols of wealth and status.

You've seen that stuff that stores call lucky bamboo? well it isn't even bamboo it comes from the family dracaena.
Real bamboo is a type of grass, and why would you want grass inside of your house?

Did you Know that Most Brown spots In lawns Arent Neceraly Dead......
Grass is Just like a tree it has a dormint Cycle difrent grasesses go dorment at difrent you might just simply have to add a difrent Verity in tha area.
And beleve it or not the best time to plant grass is right before it snows in winter.. When the snow melts in the spring you will have a beutiful Lawn. That is if you are in an area were it snows.. When it snows and it sticks the ground is soft enough for the seed to root. biggrin biggrin

Thank you mannolds, I did not know that! I'll have to keep that in mind. Unfortunately it doesn't snow much around here, but I'd imagine that the right time would be somewhere in between January and February?
Speaking of the right time to tend to the plants, did you know that the best time to take cuttings or prune most plants is in the spring, because the plant is no longer conserving energy for its dormant cycle and can use its energy to heal wounds and make new growth?

So many people notice brown spots in their lawn after a dog had peed there and they assume it is bad for the lawn. Truth is it is really good for the lawn but it is too concentrated. If you see a dog (or anything else for that matter) peeing on your lawn, don't get angry, get a hose and spray a little water on the patch. That'll dilute it and the spot will grow fine!

Coffee grounds make good compost and help keep bugs and slugs away if you put it around your garden and plants.
