Introduction to the Story

“Milune!” Sion cried, shaking his friend. Nothing. She was out cold, and showed no sign of waking up. The rain came down from the sky like bullets.
“Milune!”
He was suddenly aware of another presence, and looked up. A young man, perhaps seventeen or eighteen stood a little ways away from him. He smiled and adjusted his glasses.
“Hello there.” He said, smiling amiably.
Now, Sion hardly thought this was a time to be smiling. He’d never seen this guy on the island before, and it was obvious that this was more a time to be running than introducing yourself. The island lurched again, bits of rock flying everywhere. Sion fell over, almost right on top of the unconscious form of Milune, however the man in front of them stayed completely balanced as if nothing had happened.
“Hey…whoever you are, help! She won’t wake up, I can’t get her to-”
“I know.”
Sion stood up, eyeing the newcomer suspiciously.
“What?”
The man extended his head, a little pink flicker appearing, then slowly taking the shape of a heart.
“You’re looking for this?”
It took him a moment to realize that the little pink object in his hand was a heart. Not just any heart, Milune’s heart. He ran at it, going to grab it from the man’s hands when he pulled it back abruptly.
“Sorry. I can’t give this up just yet. Do you know someone by the name of Kale?”
Sion glared at him, reaching into his holster instinctively and pulling from it his stick weapon.
“Who wants to know?”
The man, in turn, was very calm.
“He has something of mine.”
“Which is?”
He paused, fixing his glasses again before he answered.
“My heart.”
Sion said nothing, waiting for the explanation he was sure was coming with this. As far as he knew, Kale had never stolen anyone’s heart. Granted, he liked a good fight every now and then, but he’d never killed anyone. Had he? And if he had taken this guy’s heart, how come he was still alive?
“You see…” The teen with the glasses continued.
“I’ve only got half a heart for the time being. Somehow your friend was born with the other half. I’d like a whole heart, of course, so I’m proposing a trade. I’d like the other half of my heart, in exchange for your girlfriend’s heart back.”
Before Sion had a chance to protest that number one she wasn’t his girlfriend, and number two he wasn’t about to rip his best friend’s heart out just because he’d asked, the newcomer began digging through his pocket. He produced a tiny white marble.
“I’ll give you some time to think about it.” He said simply, as he tossed it to the ground.
And the world went dark.

“I can’t believe we went all the way to that stupid island and the keybearer wasn’t even there…” The largest of the three men muttered as they exited the portal.
“Don’t cry Loz.” Said another.
The third, apparently the leader spoke up.
“Maybe he’d already been killed. Our job was done for us by a natural disa-”
He was cut off when the first one tapped him on the shoulder, and directed his attention to the place where the portal had been.
“Looks like we’ve got a stow away.”
The three turned to see the boy that had attacked them before, holding his injured arm and glaring at them. He tried his best to look intimidating when anyone could see he was pushing his limit just trying to stay standing. They’d given him quite a beating before, not that the odds had really been fair.
“…Kingdom Hearts…” He stammered.
“Y…you said…something about Kingdom Hearts, I…what is…”
Yazoo smirked and brought out his gun. He shot once, the bullet not aimed at the boy, but instead at the ceiling above him. Before he had a chance to react, that area of the ceiling collapsed onto him, pinning him into the floor, and knocking him unconscious.
“Should I finish the job?” Yazoo asked Kadaj, who walked over to get a better look at the kid they had been fighting for the last few hours.
“No.” He said, after a while.
“But he’s not the keybearer is he?” Loz asked, once again confused.
Kadaj shook his head.
“No….” He murmured.
“This kid has the other half of the Rebellion leader’s heart.”

Aurume hid behind a building and pulled a white cloak over her head, readying her mini staff. Five…four…three…two…
Kale raised the dark blade instinctively, and brought it down on the air the way he‘d seen Yazoo do it. A hole opened up in front of him. A portal! He’d done it. He smiled to himself and stepped through it. At least he could find Sion and Milune again.
Or so he thought.
Aurume pulled up her hood, and raised the staff high.
“STOP!” She cried, just as Kale entered into the world. And it worked.
Everything stopped.
Well, except Aurume and Kale.
“…What?” Kale murmured, looking around. Then he noticed the cloaked figure in front of him.
“Who are you?”
“Me…?” Aurume began.
“I’m just a helper. What can I help you with, Kale?”
Kale gave her a weird look. How did she know his name?
“What makes you think I need help?”
“But you do, don’t you?”
He sighed.
“Yeah. Have you seen my friends Sion and Milune? Someone told me they’d be-”
“Sion…?” She repeated, cutting him off.
“Oh yes. Sion. He left looking for you. Your heart.”
Kale was very surprised at this.
“What do you mean, my heart? I’ve had just about enough of this half-a-heart stuff…”
Aurume was quiet for a moment. She bit her lip, contemplating what she was about to say, then continued.
“…He wants to kill you. Sion joined the Rebellion. He said that he’d get stronger than you if he did…so…he and their leader teamed up. He needs your heart to bring the Rebellion back…If I were you I’d avoid him…”
Kale listened intently. For some reason, it fit. It almost made sense. Part of him was completely accepting of this girl’s words. The other half though, wasn’t. Sion was his friend. Why would he…
“What about Milune…?” He asked, trying to keep any emotion out of his voice. He succeeded, for the most part. But inside, he felt horrible.
Aurume shook her head.
“She’s dead. I’m sorry.”
For a moment, Kale’s eyes turned bright red. His grip tightened on his weapon.
“…Forget finding Sion.” He hissed, more to himself than the cloaked girl.
“I’ll kill him.”
That was all she needed to hear. She raised the staff again. A pulse shot from it, knocking Kale right back into the portal from which he’d come. Mission accomplished.
Backwards Town began moving again. No one had seen a thing. Aurume took off the cloak, and re-packed her weapon. Then she began back to the hotel, head hung.
Kale was fired back into the cell in the Legion base. He didn’t say anything, but anyone who looked at him could tell that he was going to kill the next person he saw. He couldn’t believe what he’d just heard. Sion was trying to kill him? Milune was dead? Well, he’d just have to beat his friend…former friend…to the punch. The black sword glowed, then died down. Finally, someone who could handle the darkness it took to wield such a weapon.
“Hey!” he called to Kadaj, who was still standing outside the door.
“I‘ll join. Just promise that I get to be the one that kills him.”

So Far... -Sion and Aurume meet up with Evily, Vlair and company.
-Evily makes dinner to welcome Sion.
-Aurume asks about heartless, and the group talks briefly about other worlds.
-Loz enters Backwards Town.
-Larsa follows Loz.
-Yuuka wanders around.
-Larsa and Loz end up in combat.
-Kale and Kadaj talk in the Legion Base, then head to Backwards Town to looks for Loz.
-Vlair goes off in search of Yuuka.
-Sion follows Vlair.
-Yuuka continues looking for the group.
-Aurume and Evily eventually decide to follow along.
-Kadaj asks Larsa about Ren.
-Larsa lies, saying that he knows him.
-Sion and Kale run into each other at the scene of the fight, in which Kale attempts to kill Sion.
-Vlair talks to Yuuka, then goes back to the house to find it deserted.
-Larsa manages to stab Kadaj, however Loz shoots him in the arm as he does so.
-The keyblade appears to Sion as Kale goes to strike him down.
-Aurume arrives at the scene.
-Loz threatens Aurume, and she makes a fuss in order to distract Sion from Kale.
-Yuuka runs toward the group.
-Sion saves Aurume, and gets a punch from Loz.
-Kadaj prepares to kill Larsa.
-Aurume saves Larsa with a hidden shield spell, then knocks him out with her mind powers.
-Kadaj has suspicions of another magician, but ends up leaving with his group.
-Sion is unable to stop Kale from leaving as well.
-Aurume tells Sion he is the keybearer.
-Vincent arrives just as the battle ends.
-Evily arrives.
-Aurume explains what happened to Evily and Vincent.
-Aurume gets a signal from the Rebellion and leaves in order to ‘get medical supplies’.
-Vincent gets suspicious, and tries to figure out what is going on.
-Vlair finds the group.
-Aurume, in her Rebellion uniform, finds Kale and talks to him about power.
-Evily tends to Larsa, Vincent is still trying to get information.
-Aurume comes back with medical supplies.
-They agree to go to Aurume’s hotel room.
-The room’s blueness becomes very, very apparent.
-Sion visits Milune, who is still unconscious.
-Aurume lies about what was taking her so long.
-Larsa wakes up.
-Ezzy walks around the hotel, ignoring Aurume’s mental protests.
-Vlair notices Aurume’s staff glowing.
-Aurume rushes to the bathroom to re-adjust her staff.
-Ren appears to Aurume, and they recap the plan.
-Ezzy formulates a plan to toy with Aurume and company.
-Sion senses Ren, but doesn’t see him.
-Larsa asks what happened, Aurume dodges the question.
-Aurume tells Larsa that Sion is the keybearer.
-Larsa goes into an overjoyed rant, then informs him that he will be accompanying them.
-Sion decides to let everyone come with them in the keybearer’s journey, as does a reluctant Aurume.
-They decide to talk to the pirates about leaving the next day.
The Next Day
-Ezzy wakes them up early by setting fireworks and nobodies off at the Aerodome.
-Everyone rushes to the scene.
-The group battles the Nobodies.
-Nakia and Page hear the commotion.
-Areli notices the crowd.
-Aurume ends up being carried by Sion.
-Fran and Balthier arrive, only to find nobodies waiting.
-Kadaj and Kale arrive, looking for Sion.
-Mima and Ren talk at the Rebellion Base.
-Mima comes looking for Ezzy.
-Larsa tries to lead the Nobodies deeper into the town and runs into Kadaj and Kale.
-Sion and Aurume find Balthier and Fran.
-Nakia and Page join the battle.
-Ezzy makes her speech.
-Larsa fights Kadaj.
-Ezzy holds Aurume ’hostage’.
-Aurume is afraid of heights.
-Ezzy gives Aurume a cut across the cheek for show, then leaves.
-Nakia and Page say hello to the group.
-Larsa continues his battle with Kadaj.
-Aurume explains that the group needs a ride.
-Kale interferes with the battle and manages to pin Larsa.
-Page and Nakia officially join the group.
-Balthier demands payment for Strahl rides.
-Larsa struggles to get free while Kadaj and Kale argue.
-Kadaj provokes Kale into going to attack Sion.
-The group boards the ship, all except Sion.
-Kadaj knocks Larsa out.
-Aurume is very wary of Nakia.
-Kale appears to Sion.
-Sion and Kale talk, Kale revelas that he’s joined the Legion.
-Upset, Sion boards the ship and Kale disappears.
-Page and Nakia read a book about Djinn.
-Kadaj and Kale leave, taking Larsa with them.
-The Strahl leaves Backwards Town.
Later....
-Ezzy visits Ren in the Legion Base.
-Ezzy goes off in search of Ren’s heart with the other members.
-Ezzy returns, having been attacked by a vicious beast.
-With the Nobodies’ help, Ren restores Ezzy.
-Ezzy goes off to watch Aurume.
-Kadaj locks Larsa up in the Legion’s dungeon.
-Kale bothers Kadaj.
-Kale bothers Loz.
-Kadaj goes to interrogate Larsa.
-Larsa refuses to tell Kadaj about Sion.
-On the Strahl, the group converses.
-Aurume ask Sion where Larsa is.
-Nakia goes back to Backwards town to look for him.
-Sion asks about the Legion.
-Aurume explains the Legion and Rebellion to Sion.
-Nakia returns and tell the group that Larsa is gone.
-Page tells Nakia to try and follow the portal.
-Aurume decides she must find a way to control Nakia’s power.
-Back at the Legion Base, Kadaj summons wolves to scare Larsa into talking.
-Nakia arrives at the base.
-Spooked by Nakia, the hounds attack Larsa.
-In panic, Larsa uses nethicite to absorb the room’s magic.
-The hounds disappear.
-Nakia is accidentally drained.
-The lock on the cell door fades.
-Aurume asks Page about his abilities.
-Aurume suggests that they tutor Sion in Ivalice.
-Aurume asks about Djinn.
-Back in the Legion Base, Ren tells Ezzy to bring Aurume a book.
-Ezzy arrives, invisible, and tells Aurume of it mentally.
-Yumi the fairy arrives.
-In secret Aurume tell Ezzy to stall Nakia’s return.
-The group converses with Yumi.
-Larsa runs from Kadaj, Nakia regains strength.
-Nakia goes to Larsa, teleports them away.
-Ezzy stops them both.
-Ezzy stall the group with a ‘magic show’, but not for long.
-Nakia and Larsa rejoin the group.
