I was drooling over the blouses on the Baby, The Stars Shine Bright site, when I saw a sleeveless blouse. I was a little surprised, and most gothloli stuff has sleeves, but then I started thinking...

A lighter, less traditional gothloli outfit, featuring that sleeveless blouse and bloomers, knee socks and mary janes, maybe some button-on gloves and a headdress or a little hat.

What do you guys think? Or does it cross the line to boy-loli?

Oh, I don't think so.
I know how hard it is to find Lolita you can wear in the summer. (I live in Missouri, and it gets rather hot here. gonk )
Sleeveless is totally an option, as are bloomers or little aristocratic shorts.
If you don't want to look too masculine though, make sure you have on plenty of lace....and pink, if you're into sweet Lolita at all.

It's just my opinion, but a headdress looks more feminine than a top hat. smile

Hmmm... I'm glad you like it! ^_^ I like headdresses a lot... they look good on my round babyface. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. I'm looking forward to making this stuff! User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

It's not that hot in SF most of the time, but it can be... ~n~

I think that a look similar to that would be fine, but it would be crossing over into more of a boy-style. Personally, I adore the boyish counterparts to Lolita fashion, as well as the more feminine side.

You have to be careful, though, as bloomers are first and foremost an undergarment and, aside from the very slight and occassional peek beneath a skirt, they are not meant to be seen. If you were to go after such a look, I would suggest some knee length "prince" pants (such as these or these).

If you were looking for more of a general summer style that is still more fitting to Lolita in a feminine manner, I would suggest something more along the lines of a sundress (of which Baby has plenty) or pairing the sleeveless top with a skirt.

.::Well, in the summer I would wear a sun dress (with a few alterations) with a petticoat and light blouse underneath, with normal Loli accessories. It would keep you cool and still have the basic Lolita elements in mind. I guess. But I could be completely wrong. ^^; As for what you already have planned, that sounds good so far, but the thing is, bloomers are an undergarment, so what you could do is get a really, really light skirt and wear it with out a petticoat. That might work.

that sounds lovely, although I have an aversion to bloomers (they used to be part of my school's gym uniform xd ). Perhaps a knee-length button-down skirt with a lacy ruffle on the bottom would do, although they tend to be very heavy fabric.

lol it's Winter NOW but...

Bloomers are underwear so I would highly contest that aspect of your outfit. The summer staple is the sundress; they are made of lighter fabrics and generally cost less to buy than the average winter Lolita ensemble, so I would keep a few around heart
