As you walk down the hall of the underground, hidden Shin-Ra basement you feel a cold breeze come your way. The sound of air release is heard down the hall. You halt for a moment to catch your breath and continue down. You find yourself standing infront a gigantic entrance to a light filled metallic chamber. Inside you see men/women training, lifting weights, stretching, sparing one another.
You look to the right and notice a sectioned of large room, in which you see a man standing holding his weapon and chanting some words. Suddenly a bolt emerges from his hand and strikes a metallic target on the other side of the room. The man falls to his knee, as he breathes heavily. A woman next to him pats him on the back, smiles and reaches out her hand to him.
Off to the left you notice another sectioned of room. This one is larger than the one to the right. Through a window, you notice a group of men standing in a line facing a large beast of some sort. The beast charges at the men, they leap out of the way. One of the men lands on the beast's back. He quickly strikes the monstrousity with his axe. The painful howl of the beast can be heard even through the thick steel walls, as it slams into ground. The man jumps of and begins to party over his victory. The beast starts to fade away, and soon it is gone - a hologram.
You breathe deep and take the step into Shin-Ra's Training Center.
Kazuo makes his first thread! Alright, so this is how this goes. This place is made for a few main reasons. It will give you something to do, if you are not on a mission, you can train you materia here, and you can challenge people to duels in here.
Dueling -
Personally, I love it. The rush of going head to head with an opponent of close to your own skills. The only thing that divides the line between victory and defeat is luck.
First of all, I will decide who wins the duel. Think of me as the luck. Depending on how well you Rp, I will decide whether you hit, or completely miss an attack, if you dodge a bullet, or get it logged into your throat. All duels will go through me; there will be no free-dueling, because that'll confuse the s**t out of me. This is how one of these duels should go.
Quote:
Player 1: Player 1 leap into the air, quickly readying his spear. The spear points at his opponent and he throws it with all his might. The weapon plummets down with a supersonic speed, ready to feed of human flesh.
Me:
Inside my head - "Ok, well he wrote down what he is doing but it lacks description...The spear misses..."
Pming Player 2 - The spear misses, barely.
Player 2: The spear shoots down like a bullet, its point hissing through the air. It passes Player 2, but the blade manages to slice a small wound into her left arm. Player 2 cringes but doesn't give in. She quickly lifts the now halted spear, and passes it back at his opponent, at the same time she charges with her rapier in the left hand ready to tear apart the man's very soul. Player two runs, feat rapping vigorously as if the unholly wardrummers of hell are playing a ballad of demise for his opponent. She reaches the said destination, fixes her thumb on the weapon and thrusts forth with a fatal plunge.
Me:
Inside my head - "Wow...That was pretty good! She hit him for sure!"
Pming Player 1 - She peirced your left shoulder, you're bleading and have a disabled left arm.
Player 1: Player 1 catches the thrown spear, but is surprised by a charging attack. He attempts to jump out of the way, but is struck. His left shoulder is pierced through, and begins bleeding profusely. The pain sends him plumeting to the grounding, only being halted by his knee.
"s**t!"
He screams as he gathers himself and jumps back, spear in right hand. A tear rolls down his left eye as the pain continues to assiduously attack him. The woman seems to be enjoying her success on the first strike, but he has not failed yet. It would take more than one slight wound to stop him. Player 1 falls down to his knee again, more tears begin to fill his eyes. He rises, and finally balances himself on his feet. He lunges at the woman again, but with less force than before due to his ustable condition, spear pointed straight for the woman's head as an attempt to end the duel with one strike.
Me:
Inside my head - "Good! Hmm, he hit!"
Pming player 2 - He almost missed, but managed to cut a deep scar into the your left cheak. The scar bleeds and gives you a not so pleasant appearance.
Player 2: Player 2 is laughing at the man's weakness, but quickly is stopped by the sight that same man leaping at her with spear in hand. She moves her head backwards, but is cut. Blood splatters across the cold metal floor, as a large gash makes its appearance across the woman's face. She turns and gives a devil's look at the man, who she begins to assualt with a variety of piercing strikes. All her attacks aiming straight for the heart.
Me:
Inside my head: "Ooh! Bad! Big scar on face = much pain! She misses!"
Pming Player 1: She misses all her strikes as you manage to jump away from them.
Player 1: Player 1 dodges the first strike and manages to leap a good two and a half feet away before anymore begin to come near him. He again leaps back, as he notices the woman approaching closer and closer, almost charging at him with her strikes. Getting a good ten feet away, an idea strikes him like a mallet over the head.
"Perfect..."
He whispers, after which he screams and falls to his knees, his spear landing on his right knee facing downwards. He lowers his head slightly and tries to force out some tears, although he keaps his attention focused on the woman as she continues to charge forth. The woman arives close enough at which point the man raises his spear in attempt to impale her on the spot.
Me:
Inside my head - "Ok, I'm siriously running out of ideas for this duel...these weapons are so hard to use and, quite frankly, I think you people get the point of dueling, so I'm ending it now. Hit and kill!"
Pming Player 2 - Because of your semi-berserk state you did not manage to forsee the trap that the man had set for you. You charged straight into the spearhead, and were impaled quite deep.
Player 2:
"Ugh!"
Blood leaks from the woman's mouth, as she drops her weapon to the ground. It clangs down, and is soon washed by the flowing of her own blood. She looks at the man and attempts to reach out, but her strength gives out and she collapses on the spear.
Here are the main rules.
Rules -
Godmodding - GODMODDING IS FORBIDDEN HERE! If this is bad in normal Rps, it is a cardinal sin here. Seeing as how this is a player vrs. player situation, if anyone godmodes, they will, first of, lose the duel, then they will be given ONE warning to not do it again. If they godmode again they will be banned from any dueling at anytime in the future. Dueling is made for two people to enjoy a good clean fight, not to win.
Roleplaying - This decides everything here. No dice, no calculator, no pencils (for all you math-based D&D peeps). This decides whether you win or lose a fight. The better you roleplay these duels, the better chance you have to win. This will not only be a good way to have some fun roleplaying, but also will sharpen up your Rp fighting skills. (Some of you need it.) I will not hold any favorites, because I believe in fair play, but there are some things that sway my attention that could get you some extra points in a duel.
Color Coding - For me to keap track of different duels I will ask for color coding to come into play. This is how it will work. When you want to duel with someone, and the person wants to duel with you, both of you will Pm me. I will then asign you both a color, in which you will have to duel in (type your text in that color). Here are the color combinations.
Red VRS. Blue
Orange VRS. Cyan
Brown VRS. Green
Olive VRS. Indigo
I will only, probably have, up to four duels going on at once, because if I have anymore my head will split into many small pieces.
Underline - All duel text must also be underlined! This way I'll know what is duel text and what is not. If you do not underline, don't expect me to even read it, even if it has your color there.
Materia and Limits - These have not been made yet, but when they are, there will be a rule on their usage in a duel.
Types of Duels -
Casual Versus - These duels are just for fun. To test out your Rp-dueling skills against a friend. Or just something to do while a mission is being prepared for you. There is nothing to gain or lose here. If you get KOed, a pheonix down will be there to raise you.
Casual Co-Op - These duels is like the duel you saw when you first entered the Training Chamber. Three men were fighting a holographic monster. If you want to fight something with a friend in here, I have plenty of monsters I can throw at you. The monster text will be written in Silver. I can only do one of these at a time, because I actually take part in the duel, but as many as four people can duel one monster at a time.
Reality Versus - These are dangerous. They can lead to the death of a character. I will be very strict in these duels. I hope that there will never come a time when a reality duel is needed. Again, Death here = permanent Death.
Reality Co-Op - These are also quite dangerous, because my monsters will not hold back. But these will give you a type of prize, if you manage to tackle them. I want to see some real good teamwork here, or you will die.
Tournament - These duels will consist of a tree chart. When I get enough duelists, I will begin to start up tournaments, where there will be some sort of prize for the top places (depending on how many people attend). The tournament champ will be displayed at the top of the Dueling Section of this thread. S/he will be honoured by all who duel in this thread as the ultimate duelist, until the next tournament goes by and that person loses his title, then another will take the place of champion.
Materia Training -
There is a special room, much like the one you saw when you came in, where fighters train their skills with materia usage. Materia isn't a toy, one must understand its powers if they do not want to be damaged by the materia themselves. What you saw happen to the man in you sight was something called materia feedback. He used the materia properly, but it was too powerful for him, thus sending a shock through his body that stunned him for a brief moment. Materia feedback can be very dangerous. If very powerful materia is used by someone with little or no skill in materia usage, feedback can kill the person and destroy the materia. That's where our training center comes in - to teach people to properly use their level materia.
--- More information to come on the materia section when Materia is in general use. ---
