Falcon and her Pokemon had taken a few days' break; Cale had suffered from burns in his last couple of fight- some of them bad- and although the nurses at the Pokemon Centre had healed him right up, they had all needed a break. But that break was over now; and Falcon stepped into an arena, ready to get back into battling. Cale nuzzled her neck slightly; before unwrapping himself from his usual place across her shoulders and around her waist. Kiliina, Falcon's Delcatty, sat up in interest as Cale floated into the ring to await their opponent.

The red haired trainer, Storm, stepped into the arena. She had to admit she was pretty nervous since this was her very first battle with her very first pokemon. She had heard the battles in Gaia were pretty tough too, but it wouldn't stop her and her droolicat from battling. She looked around the arena and clutched the pokeball in her right hand a little bit tighter. "Here we go," she said quietly. She spotted her opponet and smiled a little. "Come on out, Santino!" she called out, throwing her pokeball out for battle. The little cat popped out, landing on it's feet. His tongue stuck out of it's mouth as always while drooling away. The droolicat, Santino, stared at it's opponet for a moment and got ready for battle.

Falcon Samilka Falcon assessed the Droolicat; one of the newer Pokemon discovered, it was apparently a native to Gaia, unlike most of the others. Falcon bit her lip; it looked like the Trainer was nervous- perhaps her first battle?- but whether it was experience or pure skill, their opponent's stance was defensive. "Okay, Cale; just do your best!" Falcon called. The Dragonair let out a little rumble; and wriggled a little to loosen up his muscles. "Start with Dragon Breath!" Cale inhaled deeply; stoking the fires within him and forcing the blue and gold flames out of his mouth. (Dice roll) Falcon narrowed her eyes; a small smile played over her mouth. Winning was never important; but it filled her heart to see her Dragonair really focus on his attack and try hard. 7 Damage! Roll * 14 / 17 = 6.5 = 7

Santino was hit by dragonbreath. It had been a pretty good starting hit and the droolicat hadn't expected it. It fell back and then slowly came back onto it's feet. "Dr-droo..." it said. It had plentt of fight left in it and things were just getting started.
Storm had expected this to be tough though. She had her next move planned up however and as soon as her pokemon got up she shouted it out. "Santino use water gun!"
Santino inhaled back, getting the saliva it used for it's water gun ready and soon let the blast of the water gun come out at Cale.

"Cale, look out!" Falcon called; but the Dragonair mis-judged his dodge, and the Water Gun attack hit him squarely. He flew through the air; managing to bring himself to a hault before reaching the edge of the ring. Falcon could see the Dragonair was a little winded; but they had no time to stop and rest. "Give it your best! Use Body Slam!" Cale nodded; and taking a deep breath, he soared into the air; before flipping himself over and diving through the air towards his opponent. (Dice roll) The attack wasn't as powerful as it could have been- after all, the Dragonair had been winded immediately beforehand- but Falcon grinned. He was trying really hard! 5 Damage! Roll * 14 / 17 = 4.9 = 5

Santino was slammed into the ground by the bigger pokemon. It wasn't a full blast, and he was lucky because of that, but he couldn't help but let out a little sound of distress.
Storm saw an this as a perfect chance for one of her pokemon's more special attacks. "Santino, lick attack now!"

Santino licked his slobery tongue over the dragon pokemon on top of him. The attack was one of his best and he pulled it off quite well thanks to his close range.

Falcon didn't even get a chance to call out to Cale before the Dragonair was Licked by the other Pokemon's huge tongue. He recoiled; letting out a cry of disgust and discomfort; his entire serpentine body shuddering. Falcon winced; she had to distract her distressed Pokemon. "Come on, Cale! Don't give up; use Slam!" The Dragonair nodded; still shuddering. He twisted his body; swinging his weighted tail in a wide arc, aiming to heave it into the Droolicat. (Dice roll) His closeness allowed Cale to aim at the Droolicat's face; and Falcon nodded to himself. Despite his distress, her Pokemon was still trying hard; and she felt her chest swell with pride. 7 Damage! Roll * 14 / 17 = 6.5 = 7

Storm winced as her pokemon caught the blow of the slam. She had hesitated too much and it had coast Santino a little. The pokemon was hit right in his face and making him fly some distance before landing on the ground. He slowly lifted himself onto his feet. This was a tough first battle though Santino's last attack could give them an advantage.
"Santino tackle Dragonair!" Storm called out. The smaller pokemon started to charge at the bigger pokemon.

3*18/15=3.6=4)
This attack didn't go as well, but Santino hit on target. Storm just hopped this attack wouldn't coast them the match.

"Cale, watch out!" The Dragonair was still shuddering; and he didn't manage to move before the Droolicat hit him; sending him skidding into the dirt. He got up quickly; despite being off balence, Falcon could tell his opponent was a lot lighter than him- enough to make a difference. "Come on, Cale! Keep focused!" Falcon called. "Use Body Slam again!" The Dragonair soared into the air; before diving down towards the Droolicat. (Dice roll) Falcon winced to see how inaccurate the move was; Cale was obviously distressed enough to start to lose concentration. 1 Damage! Roll * 14 / 17 = 0.8 = 1

Santino was hit with the blow, but it didn't hurt him much. He only winced a little at the slight pain and quickly slipped out, ready to attack his opponet again.
Storm smiled a bit. Was this beginers luck or was she just getting her hopes up? "Sanino, bite now!" she called out.
The droolicat opened it's mouth, revealing that not only a tongue was in there, but fangs as well that he planned to use on Cale for a nasty attack.

Santino bite into Cale for quite a decent attack. Storm cheered mentally to herself. Things were looking good for her and Santino.

"Cale, look out!" The Dragonair turned after his Body Slam attack; but he was tired now, and he couldn't move quickly enough. The Droolicat sunk it's teeth into his lower body; and Cale threw his head back in pain as the blood welled up. He pulled away with difficulty; blood dripping from the wound and pooling in the dirt. Falcon bit her lip; he was nearly finished, but they wouldn't give up. As long as they did their best, regardless of the outcome, they were winners. "Come on, Cale! Don't give up; use Dragon Breath!" The Dragonair tried to focus; inhaling deeply, he prepared the fires inside him; and forced the blue and gold flames out at the Droolicat. (Dice roll) They both knew it was likely his last attack; and he poured all his energy into it. Falcon felt her eyes well with tears of pride as the attack grew in power; and he aimed it carefully at his opponent. 7 Damage! Roll * 14 / 17 = 6.5 = 7
HP: 6/34

Santino was too much at a close range to avoid the dragonbreath attack and it took a tole on him. He got out of the attack, panting and shaking. He wouldn't last much longer, but refused to give up.
Storm watched her pokemon, knowing how bad shape he was in at the moment, but knew he would want to fight to the end. This wasn't over yet anyway and they still had a chance. "Water gun!" she called out.
Santino inhaled saliva again and then shot it out at his opponet. Would this be the final blow?

It was far from the last blow. The attack barely hit the target. Santino must of been too tired to really concentrate on the attack.

"Cale, dodge that!" Falcon's voice reflected the pride she felt in his efforts; he was doing all he could, and that was what kept them going. The Dragonair could barely force his muscles to obey; but he tried to soar out of the way of the attack. It hit him; knocking some of the breath from his body, but not too badly- the Droolicat was tiring too. The water washed some of the blood from his body and Cale slowly turned to face his opponent. Falcon knew that both the Pokemon were nearly out of the battle. She closed her eyes; the movement making her tears of pride spill down her cheeks. "If this is our last attack, Cale- let's make it count." Her voice was low, but Cale heard her words perfectly. He closed his eyes as well; resolving to do his best. "Use Body Slam!" Upon Falcon's command- one way or another, surely the last she would give this battle- Cale rose slowly into the air; and let himself fall through it, down towards the Droolicat. (Dice roll) The attack wasn't very powerful; and it wasn't very accurate. But Cale poured all his energy into making it count; and in her mind and her heart, Falcon cheered her Pokemon on. 3 Damage! Roll * 14 / 17 = 3.2 = 3

The force of the attack was more then Santino could take at this point. "Droo..." he said, weakly before fainting. His first battle was over as well as Storm's first battle.
Storm's eyes widened a bit. She quickly took out her ball. "Return Santino," she said. The red beam of light shot out of the pokeball and returned Santino to where he could rest for a bit. She held the ball up to her face. "I'm proud of you, Santino, and I know you gave it your all," she said before putting the ball into one of her pockets. "Congrats on winning," Storm said to the other trainer with a smile. "That sure was a hard fight."
