Ok, I know some people here like HT, or hate it. So, this might be a good thread to some who are intrested in debating this issue 3nodding Debate and discussion are now open!~ ( until someone might delete this subject eventually ). For examply, have you ever seen something that resembled loli style there? Did you buy it? How was the price? Was it good or poor quality? <3 or 3 ?

A good example from my recent experiences : Today, I found a Gothic & Lolita book at Hot Topic. =3 I was realy suprized and happy when I noticed it. Sadly, it cost like $30... however, there were some amount of pictures in it, not so much information for a new fan however. And, alot of the people looked mainly visual kei, cosplay-style, or just regular street style or biker. I also got these shoes a whial ago on sale for $15

I remember, maybe last summer or the end of last year, they tried to bring in they're own version of gothloli... I only remember 2 of the dresses, though... One was a toe in for a maids outfit, and dangerously short, and the other was KIND OF cute... But the top of it was VERY low cut.... It was more like HOE-lita actually... sweatdrop
And, sadly, I do, occaisionally shop there... There really isn't anywhere else in my area to go, and until I learn to use my sewing machine better, I'm pretty s-k-rewed... confused

Decora.Doll Hot topic will never be lolita in my eyes. Never. I completely agree to this. The infamous HT JSK has been bashed in many communities because of its poor quality and extreme shortness. HT is in no way to ever be considered Lolita in my opinion.

Overpriced for such poor quality items that, in terms of blouses/dresses/skirts, are nowhere near Lolita. Too short, too cheap, too low cut, and overall just bad. On rare occassions, they have decent shoes, but other than that: No.

It reminds me of a store in Ottawa, Trivium. They are selling cheap gothic/punk/emo/rockabilly/etc. stuff at ridiculous prizes and the sellers are just annoying. Exemple: *me entering the store with my friends (dressed lolita)* The four sellers:*suddent silence* *me looking at the bags* One of the sellers (a skinny blonde with vinyl pants): hey! I have been looking at your style and we received new clothes that you might be interested by... *shows a anthracite grey coton gauze dress with an awfull cleavage, embroidered arabesques and a frilly skirt* *look at the price: 235$ for the ugly dress* Me:.... Seller: whee Me: That's... cute. Seller: And we have a corset and a skirt to go with it! Me: gonk
(Sometimes), the stuff can be nice (especially for the blouses and corsets), but overall, I just hate staying in that store for more than 5 minutes.

Arghh, the people at the HT where I live are like that. My bf buys a lot of crap from there and when I go in Loli everyone just stops and stares. Then if they have Diru on I sing to the lyrics and more people stare. A clerk once asked me "How do you know Dir en Grey, I mean they hard core and you're wearing a big pink dress?". I gave the guy a look that meant he was retarded and asked in return "Do you even know what language Dir en Grey sings in? It's Japanese, the same country this fashion came from, please go study some more and buy clothes that are actually nice whee " He obviously got pissed and I searched in their magazines for Shoxx and the new Gothic & Lolita books they have. I brought them back to him pointed out the people dressed the same as me and smirked as he blushed from embarrassment. I love being an a** in Loli to HT people rofl

There is one or other item on HT that I like, but I don't find that store Lolita at all. Actually, I have seen a few clothing pieces trying to reasemble the style, but failed miserably (in my opinion).

Text Is Hur! Hot Topic is not Punk Rock. Or Lolita. Or Goth. Or Gothic Lolita. D:<
End. Of. Story. It has actually turned more into a Scene Kid store than anything. So, if that what you are going for, Scene Loli, shop there. 8D
I think I just made a new term for Lolism. D: Scene Loli. XD -ponders this thought-

I only rarely shop at HT, and usually for accessories. My hips.....they are too big as well as my chest for their clothes. I bring everything together to make one good outfit. I dunno, they do have the magazines there, and their staff in the one by me are all nice. I wouldn't say it is lolita by far, but it can be a good store.

As I live in a stupid closed-minded little hickville town in Tennessee (No offense meant to anyone from around here), Hot Topic is my only option for shopping. That it why I have a new sewing machine and I am starting to make my own clothes. Of course sewing takes time and if I need something quick I usually have to shop at Hot Topic. As crazy as it sounds I actually did find a nice petticoat there once. And a cute sun dress that (paired with the correct accessories) does look quite lolita. It's amazing that it isn't too short, it falls to about the knees. Though I am a rather short girl so it probably wasn't meant to be that long on normal people.
If there were better stores around I would not choose to shop at Hot Topic. Though for now it's either Hot Topic, or prep clothes (YUCK). You see my dilemma don't you?

I'm also not a spoiled rich girl who makes my parents order me brand dresses from Japan (I pay for all my own clothes). It's kinda the same for me. The mall here isn't exactly that big. Not to mention I'm not allowed to order anything online. My only options of shopping is Hottopic and a quite few stores here.

I don't shop at Hot Topic on principle... that it's too expensive. Plus, it just seems a little... y'know... status symbol for kids who hate their parents sort of thing. talk2hand
Well, I can find stuff much more cheaply in other stores, because I live in San Francisco and have that option. However, it is my personal feeling that it doesn't matter where you get your stuff if it's of good quality and you make it work. 3nodding So I won't hate someone for shopping there, but it's not for me.
I won a game of "I Never" by saying "I've never been in Hot Topic" xd
