Prior to the Great Sycaran Purge Terra was the seat of power of Chancellor Drando, and was where the New Republic Senate met. It was a heavily populated planet, with a population of about 7 billion.

However during the Purge millions were killed in battle with the Sycara, but many more died in more insidious circumstances.

The crazed Chancellor began rounding up the people of Terra and converting them into mindless cyborgs in secret factories. Billions were converted into cyborgs and the survivors were forced to flee the planet. Following the Chancellor's assassination by his own son the planet was cleansed of the cyborgs by a combined Imperial/ Rebel task force, who generated a massive EMP field around the planet, destroying every last cyborg.

The planet was then resettled by the survivors of the former Chancellor and became a home to many of the millions of refugees fleeing from the further afield campaigns.

Since the war ended the planet's population has grown and it has become the financial capital of the Federation, with several powerful banking groups residing there. Although the governments political capital is on Simian financial power lies with the bankers of Edson Square, the promininet financial district in Terra's capital.

It is also home to the Federation Navy and several ship yards orbit the planet, constructing ships for the forces of Tasha.

It has a varied climate, an oxygen rich atmosphere and wide forests, mountains and plains. It is about 70% water and has several large land masses, a large variety of minerals and metals, and countless species of animals, plants and fish.
