Ok, so i told my mum last night that i was gay, but it was fine cause she really didn't care if i was or not, as she is an open minded person. but then she said to me if i were you i wouldn't broadcast that fact too much, as it may just be a phase and that you might grow out of it then you might turn out straight and then every one would be wondering about why you weren't any more. Then she told me how she thought that she was a lesbian for a little while, when she was 14 or 15, but then got over it. now I'm confused about if i am in a phase or not. she told me this stuff just when i had planned to tell my friends like the next day, now i don't know if i should or not or if I'm just in this "phase" she spoke of.

Even if you try your best to subconsciously convince yourself you're gay when you're really straight, deep down you'd still know. If it is a phase, usually it happens because of something dramatic going on in your life causing it, say for example feeling like there's no chance in hell to get a girlfriend, so you try guys and try to convince yourself you're gay. There's a lot of different ways it could just be a phase, I won't go any more into specifics, because if you look really deep down, and you know that your liking guys isn't actually based off of being attracted to them, then there is a chance it could be a phase.

Often times people in general, not just mothers with gay sons, will try to use coping mechanisms that will still allow them to hear the truth, but interpret it as they see fit so they don't have to deal with it entirely. I myself once insisted that when my friend borrowed my favorite shirt, he had every intention of returning it some day, though I now have come to realize I'm never getting it back. I simply bought a new, matching one though. However I don't think she'll be able to trade you in for a new, straight son. I believe the government frowns upon that.

It's possible, and more likely than you think, but usually it's more of a "bi, leaning towards guys" phase. I read a study, but I can't remember what it was.
They just said that like 15% or so of gay teens turn out straight, when they "grow up," but they didn't call it a "phase"

They all are supposedly experts, and they all say different and comflicting things compared to other experts. I have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a gay phase until I actually find someone that went through such. This does not include someone that claimed to be bi in high school or whatever, they need to actually have had a relationship....a...physical one at that. xD

Show me someone who went through a phase and Ill believe it. And as for you Prince of Pain, just let time take its toll and your feelings will work themselve out. You'll either find a guy to be in a relationship in or maybe youll just like girls(ick). Just wait and see what happens. -nod- ^_^

Well...its more similar to Buddhism since there isnt really an uber God of death. But it could pass as a religion since we have faith in The Way of the Gay.

well i guess it depends on ur age and stuff, i thought it wass a phase cause i like girls and stuff and then i got a gf and loved her and then she broke my heart lol sorry for the pathetic love story....anyway, its been a year and a half now and i finally realize that im bi and like guys and girls lol tho it depends on my mood cause sometiems im gungho guys and then at other times im like eeew guys lol....i think that whern ur younger its possible to be ust a phase where u think u might be and then u eventually realize what u want, unless ur bi then ur always changing lol wink
