What is your stand on religion? What are the pros and cons, and what do you believe?

well, i was raised a Christian, but i got kinda weary of it.
Instead of becoming an athiest, I decided to study(not practice) all religions, not only for morals and knowledge, but for credibility, if there is a true religion that takes you to the afterlife paridise ^_^

I was raised Christian but I'd say I'm a really bad one.
I try my best to go thru life following God's teachings.
I haven't read the Bible and I always fall asleep or just don't hear the sermon during worship.
As of my outlook on other religions........I don't care. They can believe whatever they want. It's not like they're bothering me.
Except for this one church that's near my house. They annoy the crap out of me!
They would set up this tent and ppl would come and listen but they were so loud. If you went outside you could everything the preacher was saying and you could still hear it inside. It was just muffled.

I've tried for years to be Christian, or anything at all. I have major problems with believing things that cannot be proven. I also have some problems with some of the moralities. The best example is "Thou shall not kill". More people are killed because of religan than almost anything else. I'm really starting to think that religan is a means of control for some, or a means to give hope for others. As for me, I'm not sure what I believe in.

I'm con religion. Not because I hate it or anything but because people should believe more in themselves. They are capable of many things but take no credit, or use religion to hide under or as a shield for problems. I believe beliefs make people stronger, and their morals are given to them by their family life. Religion just brain washes people into unison thoughts. I can say I've studied religion and what I have come up with is I do believe there is something above our control, but it does not have to be god, nor are we meant to be perfect beings without sin, we wouldn't be human without our imperfections.

I agree with Beowulf, although I have a few different problems. Mostly, two big ones. People who flat out refuse to be open minded. "God said it, therefore it is so!" And people you attempt to shove their own religion on other people. I don't care what you believe, as long as it does not involve the suffering of another human/animal, just leave me out of it!

I agree with you both on that, but there are morals in it, and Though I have a hard time believing, I still look. The bible says according the the life and rule of old kings, the worlds 4000 years old, but we have alot more proof that it's otherwise....and IF there is a god, It's everything. Its the atoms, the cells, the planets the air and stars, and Has no feelings or mercy. Earths tectonic PLATES rupture causing WATER to rise up and cause a tsunami...little sue can't get out of bed because of her illness( the CELLS of her genetics), and because of where the other people left their forms of transportation, many will die(the caps words are nouns of the theoretical god's manifestation). THere's no such thing as destiny, and the future can't be accurately predicted.

uh raised christain..i dont agree with half the ideas in the bible tho i've never read it. i've just heard passages from church. uh i dont want to go to church and i try my hardest to avoid it but yeah....half the time i lose and end up going....i ignore the pastor 99.9% of the time. and doesnt the bible say no cussing?? screw it that one. or whatever that one was i say screw it
