Hiya folks, hope a few people are still around. I finally got my internet back and intend to be online a lot more!

I was nosing around the internet and found this gem:

So what do you think? Do you think he covers the subject well? Anything to add to his overview?

Easily one of my favorite Shermer talks.

"You can't miss it when I tell you where it is."

I have to say, I really liked the talk (along with his magazine and books..lol). I think that he manages to present his case clearly and respectfully of those who believe strange things.

Were that the human mind be infallible! But alas, tis not so!

Discouting people lying for whatever reason, I actually understand how people who believe they saw something or that something happened, when the rest of us 'know' better. Sometimes really strange things happen and our minds cannot cope, or they lack all the appropriate data to identify something accurately, and our imagination kicks in. As much as scientists hate to admit it, there does appear to exist such a thing as ball lightning...and if a person sees a ball of lightning fly by their house, who am I to argue that it wasn't a UFO?

It is such events that can often lead us to the wrong conclusions, whether it be strange phenomonon or a bump to the head screwing up our brains temporarily.
