Falcon cradled Kiliina, her Skitty, close as Cale was sprawled over her shoulders; the bottom half of his body coiled around her waist. Falcon had left a message at the Pokemon Centre; a card inviting a trainer- any trainer- to battle. She had left them details of where she would be; along with who she was.
Kiliina's ears stiffened; and the tiny feline wiggled and leaped out of her Trainer's arms. She stood on the sand; looking back and forth.
"Do you hear someone?"
The small Pokemon nodded her head at Falcon is affirmation; and Cale slowly unwrapped himself from his Trainer's shoulders. He floated in the air next to her for a moment; before swimming through the air and into the ring in preparation.

Falcon nodded; after her childhood friend had got a Growlithe, they had battled her a few times. She didn't know if Cale could win this; but at least he wouldn't stress too much about it.
Actually, it didn't matter; he never stressed about anything.
Falcon shrugged as the Dragonair floated into the ring and started doing figure-of-eight manouvers in the air to warm up. Falcon knew he was also waking up his draconic powers. She thought for a moment.
"Okay, Cale; open with a Body Slam!" Cale rose up for a moment; before diving through the air at his opponent. He was focused today; and Falcon cheered inside as he put all he had into the attack.

7 Damage!

"Cale, look out!" But the Dragonair barely had time to look up before he was sent flying; knocked into the sand with the force of the attack. He skidded along the ground, raising a cloud of sand as he went.
He rose from the sand cloud; looking majestic- an image entirely ruined when he sneezed and shook his head to remove the dust from his face. Falcon hid a smile behind her hand.
"Come on, Cale! Use Dragon Breath!"
Cale inhaled deeply; before using the air to force the draconic flames, blue and gold, out of his mouth and in a beam at his opponent. He couldn't see too well through the cloud of dust; but Falcon was proud to see that he put his all into the attack.

5 Damage!

"Cale, look out!" The Dragonair looked up; and seeing the approaching conflagration, tried to move out of the way. But he wasn't fast enough; and was caught directly in the blaze.
The fire receded to show Cale; curled up against the flames and drifting towards the dusty floor. A hand rose, unbidden, to cover Falcon's mouth; he was covered in burns, some worse than others. Falcon bit her lip.
"Come on, Cale! Don't give up; do your best!"
The Dragonair looked at her; and slowly uncurled himself. He was shaking; and Falcon's heart ached to see how much each movement pained him. Still, they wouldn't give up. They would do their best; win or lose.
"Okay, use Slam!" The Dragonair nodded; and narrowed his eyes. He dove through the air towards the Growlithe; and as he drew close, he stopped the front of his body sharply whilst swinging his tail around in an arc, aiming to Slam it into the Growlithe. But the pain from his burns was taking up all of Cale's concentration; and the swing was wild and lacked any real power. Falcon bit her lip.

1 Damage!

"Dodge it, Cale!" Falcon saw the exchange between Trainer and Pokemon; but didn't understand it at first- or worry. But as Cale rose up into the air- high enough that the Headbutt would have merely brushed his tail- the Growlithe closed it's jaws on his tail.
Cale pulled free with ease; although his tail dripped a little blood onto the sands. Falcon's lip rose in a snarl; underhand tactics? The win was unimportant to her; but the second the battle became less than honourable she felt angry. Furious, in fact.
She called out to Cale; her voice beyond just cold. The Dragonair knew her well; and understood her anger- and that it was not, and never would bem, directed at him.
"Cale, use Dragonbreath!"
The Dragonair nodded to her; and took a deep breath, stoking the draconic fires within him. He used the air he inhaled to force the flames out and at the Growlithe. He was a little distracted by Falcon's obvious anger; but the move made up for it's poor accuracy with the power and energy he poured into it.

4 Damage!

"Look out Cale!" The Dragonair rushed up and over the Growlithe; managing to avoid a physical hit. The flames around the Growlithe, however, licked at his underside and the burns covering it; and he let out a low rumble of pain before flipping in midair, and floating on his back away from the Growlithe.
"Alright, Cale!" Falcon called, thinking fast. She didn't want him to use a physical attack with the Growlithe covered in flames like that; so that left...
"Use Dragon Breath!" She hated to use it so soon after he last used it; but he didn't know any other attacks he could use at a distance.
Cale narrowed his dark eyes; his draconic powers within hadn't had time to recover from his last attack, but he did his best; breathing deeply to shoot the flames at the Growlithe. The attack made up in the sheer determination he put into it what it lacked in actual power; and Falcon's eyes shone with pride, seeing him trying so hard.

5 Damage!

"Cale, look out!" Falcon called; but the Dragonair didn't have enough time to move before the Growlithe hit him hard on the back.
He thudded hard into the ground; throwing up clouds of sand.
Falcon watched as he rose from the ground with agonising slowness; she could see his entire body was shaking. It was a credit to his spirit and determination that he was still fighting at all; and Falcon's chest swelled with pride.
"Alright, Cale! Use Slam!" She knew it was likely the last command she would give this battle; but she was proud of the effort he had put in. That was enough for her.
Cale swung his tail in a wide arc, aiming it at the Growlithe. It didn't hold much power; but Cale was determined to do his best, regardless.

5 Damage.

"Look out, Cale!" But this time, Cale couldn't avoid the attack; and he was sent flying into the dirt, the fire making his burns even worse. He tried to raise his head; before passing out from the pain of the searing burns as they seared his flesh beneath his smooth skin.
Falcon ran into the ring. Cale didn't really like being put in his Pokeball; but she wanted to get him to the Pokemon Centre as quickly as possible- and she wanted to get away from the other trainer. She had not been impressed at all when she had started using underhand tactics.
Falcon pulled out Cale's Pokeball; and after recalling him, she turned and began to walk away.
