"Start from the beginining, please. Tell me how you began, only then can this really work and you can be truly free."
In hate, the hate between that bitter man and that foolish woman I was conceived. Through their actions, I was born.
Kelis Morgan ran up the stairs to her room. She jumped quickly under the bed with an excited squeel. She knew today would be the day she would win their long going game of hide and seek. Since Kelis was about five, they'd played hide and seek everyday but, never declared a winner. Until, that day no one had won for those two wonderful years between mother and daughter.
Kelis knew instinctively that today's fight would be long as many children do and she put her stuffed white bunny to keep her company. "Mommy is taking a while Miss Bunny. Don't worry though, I'm here and we'll just play until she gets here. Then, we'll win for sure I promise," she said in an excited whisper. Downstairs though, things had only just begun between Kenith and Lisa Morgan. It didn't matter though, the fight would not last too long.
"I'm sick of this lie Lisa! She has blond hair and blue eyes for heaven's sake! She only has your eyes and nothing else! Do you think I am stupid? She looks just like that artist you dated in high school. You cheated on me and then named your love child after us. We both have always known it! I'll never forgive you for this!" Kenith screamed loudly at her. Lisa shook her head desperately her black curls covering her lovely face. She shook violently and hugged herself. "Kenith, don't do this. She is your daughter and you love her. Just the way you'll never love me," she added in sadly.
I don't know what she said to set him off. I wasn't born yet, and wading through Kelis's memories is difficult at best.
Kenith looked at his wife with a contempt he never even knew he had. His eyes widened and he took a deep breath and held it. "You...say that...I loved you so much Lisa. How could you say that why," he asked in a choked sob. Lisa looked at him sadly then, with renewed will she whispered a reply. "What do you mean loved? Oh Kenith, there was never a love." A flash of silver went down on her arm and she looked down at it. All she could see was red then, her own feet pumping furiously.
Kelis was about to fall asleep when she heard the footsteps. Her smile returned and she held up the bunny. "Told ya! Let's get ready," she whispered. She adjusted her position to allow herself to jump out quickly when she heard her mother's labored breaths. Even a little girl as naive as her knew what was happening. Their was nothing normal about this fight, not in the least.
It seemed like a hour but, in truth is was only a moment. One swift movement, the man who raised her plunged the knife into her chest. The knife went down so slowly to Kelis. Her mother fell back onto her bed with a stunned expression on her lovely face. The man who raised her looked down in horror and pride at what he had done. He left the room to go looking for Kelis but, she was gone by then.
In the moment the knife hit her chest, I was released from my womb, her mind. I got to hear her mother's, my mother's final words.
Lisa rolled off the bed and hit the floor with a thud. She looked over and spotted her daughter. She smiled so sweetly, she was trying so hard to make Kelis think everything was going to be okay. Too bad Kelis wasn't there to appreciate her efforts. "My little bunny, it looks like you won. I never saw you coming. Now, I'll hide for a little while and you have to find me when you are all grown up and have lived a full life. Oh.....and have had lots of babies....and...have loved....don't forget th..."
I looked at this woman and knew she was our mother. I didn't even have time to absorb much of what happened all I knew was what I had to do.
Bunny crawled from under the bed and kissed the Lisa's forehead. Her gaze then turned to the knife she quickly plucked out of her mother's chest. Bunny looked up and saw Kenith staring at her from the doorway. In what was like a hour to Kenith but, in truth it was more like fifteen minutes. She repeatably stabbed his face not knowing why, it didn't matter though. His terrified screams had attracted the neighbors and the police were pounding on the door. She picked up her stuffed bunny and dropped the knife. The police broke through the door and she looked up in a clearly terrified officer's eyes. "Who did this little girl?" he asked quietly. Bunny looked up at him with empty eyes, void of all emotion. Her mind flashing back to her mother's final words. "The name is Bunny and Daddy killed Mommy so I killed Daddy."
They brought me here to this place a few minutes later, the asylum. I was still in my pajamas and holding that bunny. After that, I remember everything but, before that well...I just told you. I can still remember her face though and her words. She gave me a name, an identity. I will always love her for that and hate her. She gave a name to the sickness that I am.
