Forbidden Forest

Tatsuko entered the forest, gliding threw the tall grasses like a spirit. It was nightfall, and the blazing red of the dying sun covered the sky, slowly turning into purples, pinks, and blues. Lately, the Call had been getting stronger. The Call ran through every wild things blood. It was powerful, strong, and no beast could deny it. Tatsuko was a demon, yes, and she could take the form of a humanoid. But she was, first and foremost, a fox. She was first and foremost, one of the wilder breeds of animals, the breed where the Call ran the strongest. And try as she might, she could not deny it. Her footsteps sped up. It was getting stronger even now. With barely a thought in her mind, she shed the human form she chose to take, and soon, a horse sized Youko, a nine tailed silver demon fox, was racing through the forest. She howled, the Call ran strong tonight. Any other day she could be a human, but now she was a fox, and she was free to race as the Youko she was inside. She paused on top of a grassy hill, before surging forward. The Hunt was in her blood. She was the Youko, and for tonight she would be free.

{This is Instincts talking}
This is Mind talking

Tatsuko stalked through the tree's, watching in amusement as the humans raced through the forest and interacted. {Silly humans,} her instincts whispered. No, argued her mind. Humans are not silly, just young. Ever so young. Her Instincts were silent for a moment, thinking. {Yes} agreed her Instincts finally. {Humans are young kits} Tatsuku's mind silently celebrated Yes! They were getting somewhere with her instincts! Yes, and kits must be protected Her Instincts nodded, and hummed in agreement. {Yes, kits must be protected... My kits.... My kits my be protected.} Tatsuko's mind agreed. Yes. Our kits must be protected, but only the ones of this den {Yes. Our kits are those from this den.} Tatsuko, mind and Instincts in agreement, watched the two humans, before turning, and leaving the clearing, leaving just as she had arrived. Like a ghost.

Tatsuko raced through the forest, gaining in on her prey. She pounced suddenly, landing on the back of a unicorn. Her mind laughed as her Instincts caused Tatsuko to fall. Tatsuko blinked at the snorting unicorn before she started laughing. No animal deep in their Call, could be so overridden in their instincts, that they did not recognize a unicorn, an ally. She shook her head snorting as the unicorn pawed the ground, and bobbed his head before rearing up. No Whispered her Instincts. For now I am done The unicorn seemed to think about it before nodding and racing away. Tatsuko shook her head, before she suddenly froze. The were-creature, the kit, seemed to be racing through the forest near her position. She crept forward, stalking to the position the kit would soon be at, before lowering her body and waiting. She waiting, and suddenly heard the kit racing forward. Right... about.... There! She raced forward, crossing the kits path, and picking the kit up in her mouth. There... She ignore the wriggling and squeaking of the kit in her mouth. What, is the kit doing here, and smelling of the were-creature? Her Instincts questioned. Her mind seemed to pause before answering. {There must be something in the forest he eats to not transform, or he transformed because every month he does at certain times, like a were-wolf. I was unaware that there were any were-kits.} Her Instincts agreed, deep in thought still holding the kit firmly.

Tatsuko blinked slightly, as the kit nestled trustingly in her jaw, dead to the world. She gently set the kit down between two roots of a tree. She looked at the kit. So cute. She shook her head slightly. Focus! She forced a large dome of roses to cover the area, large enough for her, who was as large as a cart horse, to comfortably walk around in. Exiting, leaving the kit safe, but still trapped, in the rose bushes, she forced Okunenju Roots, Sinning Trees, Vampire Plants, the Death Tree, and various other demonic plants to grow around the roses, to keep the kit safe from predators. She sat, pleased with what she had forced to grow. Now Her Instincts remarked, To Hunt {Yes} Answered her mind. {To hunt} Tatsuko turned and raced to the darker areas of the forest, hunting food. After eating her fill, she hunted a large rabbit, and carried it, still living, to the plant dome. She smirked. It seemed like some Acromantula's had thought to prey upon the kit. She commanded the plants to move, and the plants allowed her entry, before closing behind her. Good, the kit was still asleep. All the better. Tatsuko's mind worried. {What if the kit woke up while we were gone?} Her Instincts scoffed at the idea. Don't be a fool. Unless the kit were incredibly brave, or had a more human mind about it, the kit would have been terrified upon waking, and would have tried to escape, causing pain, and the scent of panic. No wizard or being can erase that scent, and the scent of pain. The kit did not wake up, and if it did, it recognized that it was safe. {What if the kit was terrified for only a few seconds before calming down?} Questioned her mind. Her Instincts seemed to think about the question. Then there is the chance that the fear did not leave any scent. Tatsuko's mind smirked victory! She placed the terrified rabbit on the ground in front of her, her tails swishing behind her. She was beautiful, terrifying to enemies and humans, but beautiful to the foxes, and the allies. She sat patiently, basking in the moonlight. Now remarked her Instincts, We wait for the kit to wake.

Tatsuko watched the kit eat. She turned her head to the side. It smelt like the were-beast, yet the were-beast was too gentle to eat the heart of such an innocent animal.... Perhaps the Instincts of the new form overwhelmed the human half. "I am Tatsuko, the Youko Princess of the Demon Kitsunes, Lady of the Southern Lands. Your scent resembles that of the were-beast.... Explain how such can be." {Perhaps} Whispered her mind, {There will be enough fox in him, so that our ruler ship over the foxes extends upon him.} It will, answered her Instincts. He had the blood of the Kitsunes in him at birth, no matter how faint. His Were-side only strengthens that blood bond. To the foxes, he is a half-blood, and only those who have less then a fifth of the fox blood are not under our power. He is one of our people. They waited for the kits answer, her silver fur glistening beneath the moon beams.
