May 10th-1775
Geno Roads aka Colonel Ethan Allen stood proud as the sun broke the morning mist. It was early spring of 1775, beginning of the American Revolution. The Colonel's musket butt was dug into the soft ground, he was leaning on it. His muscled frame seemed to make the gun groan with protest. Ethan grinned happily as he scouted the dark waters that encased the British controlled Fort Ticonderoga.
Benedict Arnold led his men quietly next to Ethan. "The Sun is rising, we have to move now our we will lose the element of surprise." He pointed out to Ethan. The Giant of a man sighed loudly, removing his musket from the dirt and checking it. Ethan removed his cap and rub a hand through his short brown hair before walked slowly over to his Green Mountain Boys.
"Men and brothers in arms," He spoke, gesturing with his hands, "today we make history and take one step towards freeing ourselves from the clutches of Great Britain." He gripped his sabre at his side and removed it, holding it high in the air, gesturing a hopeful and great victory. He then sheathed it once more and motioned to the boats.
The great Ethan Allen led his Vermont formed Green Mountain Boys to the small boats that they had secured. Each boat held roughly 10 men, Ethan in the biggest, one leg resting on the seat and the other on the boat floor. There was 5 boats in all and they sailed gracefully across the dark waters towards the Fort. 50 men in all is what they had brought to capture the fort. The boats reached the shore without a sound, the men quickly but silently removed themselves from the crafts and started their ascent of the hill that laid before them.
It took them roughly 20 minutes to make the hike and soon they had penetrated the fort. Ethan had knocked one proud office out and told another to lead them to their commander. Minutes later, the Commander surrendered the Fort to the Green Mountain Boys and Benedict Arnold. There were no casualties except for bump caused by the sabre.
Ethan, his men and Benedict Arnold were overcome with joy; they had literally just waltzed into a British held fort and took it, no man had lost his life. That night was one of celebration and drinking. Ethan, being a religious man, drank but not for the sake of drinking but to the victory and the eventual freedom of America from the empire that was Britain. Colonel Ethan Allen had made history and given every rebel in American hope for years to come.
