I would rather have a fat horse and I feel sorry for the starved horses and lucky for me that my mom buys starved and skinny horses, she fattens them up and sells them to loving homes, I hate it when cruel people starve their horses like that, it makes me so SICK! crying stressed

Hmm that's a difficult choice.

I feel sorry for starving horses, I'd like to provide homes but can't at this time. I wouldn't be able to afford it... not at this time anyway.

Hmmm its a difficult choice, but I'd take in a starving horse over an very ft/obese horse anyday. They just give back so much more when given a second chance to live.

Well, its one thing to have ribs showing and another to be very underweight and dying of starvtion. Some horses (Like TB's) are very hard keepers and its vey difficult to keep weight on them, so sometimes their ribs tend to show. It doesn't always mean that person is a bad horse owner... and others rescue horses and it takes awhile to put weight back on that horse, every horse is different.

Some easy keepers like mine, and others difficult keepers. Then there are those who purposly starve their horse. Then the generous people who save them...

I wonder why TBs are hard for weight gaining?

I'm not sure, I've always found the hot bloods (Arabs, TB's) to need a bit more than say my Quarter Horse in order to keep a healthy weight.

I see and I heard people feed TBs less in Racetracks so they can run faster without slowing down with so much weight.

Racehorses get fed a lot, actually.
I used to go the Philadelphia Park all the time, my friend's trainer works and lives there.
The horses get fed two huge meals a day, like, one meal was about twice the size of what a regular TB would get off the track. It's all real high-energy feed too. The horses didn't get hay, but they do get a lot of food with each meal.

The day of the race the horses didn't get to eat till after they ran, and they can't be fed and watered after the race until they urinate, so they can run a drug test. 3nodding
That's how it was at Philly, anyway.

THey do? I thought they hold back their feed since they can't be too heavy when running and a drug test? I see and what do the racehorse TBs eat if they don't get hay? do they eat oats and pellets?
