Jen walked into the arena. Today's venue took place in an open arena. The breeze rustled her hair softly as she pulled out a pokeball and flung it open. In a burst of white light, a gastly appeared.
Droga smiled and she hovered about and turned back to Jen. The gastly darted around lifting into the air and then diving playfully back down.
"You've got to focus Droga." Jen smirked as she thought of an attack. "Droga, use Nightshade!"
Droga flew forward and sent out a burst of darkness towards Emi.

A seventeen year old girl walked confidently onto the Battleground, a Raichu on her left shoulder. "Alright Emi, it's time for yet another battle. Remember, do your best, winning isn't everything."
The Raichu gave her trainer a funny look at that. "Yes it is, winning is everything." She said in her pokemon language before hopping off her shoulder and walking casually, yet determinedly into the arena. She looked at her opponenant and saw to her disdain a Gastly. Emi remembered her last battle with a Gastly, and how much she now loathed her. Hopefully this one was different, it seemed to be because she was playing around. How can someone take battling so lightly? The Raichu thought.
But she was preoccupied with her thoughts, and didn't hear her trainer in time to dodge the Nightshade. She held back a shriek of pain and surprise as she rounded on Droga.
"Emi, attack with Zap Cannon!"
Electricity shot out of the Raichu's yellow cheeks and began to form a ball. With a surge of energy she launched it forward, hoping this would make a better impact on her than it did the last Gastly.

"Dodge that zap cannon Droga!" Jen shouted. She watched as Droga snapped to it and spun to avoid it. She didn't completely get away, but it could have been a lot worse. Jen nodded to her gastly as it floated back to attention.
"Droga, use Lick!"
The gastly had a great grin upon its face as its mouth opened and a large pink tongue shot out. Now its getting interesting, and a little fun, Droga thought as she chuckled.

Emi cursed to herself at the effectiveness of her attack. Just like the last one. At least this one isn't hurling insults. It was quite a few steps up from her point of view. She saw the Lick attack coming and was, to her surprise, pretty creeped out by it. That's even worse than the Drill Peck! She thought as she ran away, the end of the Gastly's tongue licking the back of her head a bit, sending shivers throughout her body. Nasty!
"Try Shockwave!"
Electricity flowed from her cheeks again, this time flattening out, it's blue and yellow color almost blinding. The front of the electricity rose into the air and seemed to chase the Gastly down the field to crash down on her.

Eww, raichu taste gross. D: Was the thought Droga was thinking before the shockwave crashed on her. She spun for a moment or two, trying to deflect some of the damage. Eyes were buggin out a bit as she blinked.
"You can shake off the static, don't worry about it." Jen smiled and nodded at her gastly. She needed a good, solid attack to use. A smirk spread slowly across her face as it came to her.
"Blast 'em with a Shadow Ball!"
Droga nodded and darted towards Emi. Eyes narrowed in concentration as a ball of dark energy slowly grew in front of Droga. She closed her eyes for a sec and when she opened them she sent the darkly glowing shadow ball hurtling at the raichu.

Emi was beginning to get frustrated at her attacks having little effect. What was it about Gastlys? As she thought about though she didn't see the Shadow Ball until too late, taking a pretty good hit and falling to the ground. She got up determinedly and glared at Droga.
"Alright, try Volt Tackle.
The Raichu sped towards the Gastly, lightning covering her body and hiding her form in it's blazing yellow light, turning her into what could be called a mini-lightning comet. When she was close enough to Droga she launched herself into the air.

When Emi made contact with Droga, Jen had to shield her eyes from the bright light. After the flashing had stopped, she watched as Droga, who was now glowing nicely and had little bis of electricity dancing over her, went hurtling into the ground.
Droga sat there and twitched for a few moments, not looking inclined to hurrying it up. Ouch... Was the only thing running through Droga's mind at the moment.
"You okay Droga?" Jen looked worriedly at her gastly who was slowly floating back up. She watched her pokemon nod slowly before smirking. Jen knew she could recover. "Droga! Use another Nightshade!"
Darkness once more shot out of the gastly, hurtling towards Emi. Droga was not going to back down just yet.

Emi smiled as she fell back to the ground, rotating in the air to face the Gastly and landing safely on her feet. That had been the most perfect hit so far this battle, she loved using Volt Tackle. She watched as the Gastly slowly rose and shot another Shadow Ball at her. Emi jumped to the side, but it struck her hindquarters. At least she knew she had what it takes to defeat this Gastly, and that if she could beat this one she could beat Shadowcrusher as well.
Spinel knew she was fine, she had taken and shaken off more powerful hits before and she'd do it again. "You're doing great Emi. Use Iron Tail!"
The long tail began to glow white, iron coating itself around the tail, the lightningbolt now resembling a blade. She charged in zig-zags and leapt into the air again, over the Gastly and flipping forward to hit her in the back.

For being a ghost, iron tail was surprisingly effective against Droga. The blade cut clean through her as she hurtled about the stadium. Another powerful hit.
Jen frowned as she watched Droga hovering barely above the ground. This battle had certainly turned around. But it was also very close. However, Jen knew that all was not well and Droga wouldn't be able to keep up if another heavy hitter occurred.
The gastly was now floating back up and gave a slight smile of encouragement to say she could continue.
"If you're up to it, use Dark Pulse!" Jen shouted looking hopefully at her gastly who leaped up and blasted out a wave of dark energy. A heavy hitter is needed if Droga wants to win, thought Jen.

The Raichu was certainly pleased at how well her Iron Tail worked on a ghost type, it certainly hadn't faired well against Shadowcrusher. She landed on all fours, tail lashing happily at the battle, even if she was slightly fatigued. She turned in time to get partially out of the way of the Dark Pulse, herhindquarters once again taking the damage. This was one of her more pleasurable battles, she had to admit.
"Use Zap Cannon again Emi!" Spinel called, her hands clenched.
The ball of electricity fromed before her again, shooting out at the Gastly when the Raichu thought it big enough.

Droga was so exhausted she didn't get to avoid much of the zap cannon. Bright flashes of light illuminated her to her core as she fell back towards Jen. Jen looked at her gastly, and knew it was pretty much over. "Droga, you want to mellow out, or give 'em a last minute blast?"
The ghost floated up and chuckled at Jen. The blast of course. Thought Droga, and she could tell that her trainer got the jist of it.
"Droga use Psywave!" Jen shouted as the gastly shot out a purple blast of psychic energy towards Emi. She figured this would be her final blast for the battle, no matter how weak or strong it was.

Emi's luck had definately picked up, but she was still in danger. She looked up in time to see and dodge the purple energy that was the Psywave, but only just as she was nicked on the side.
"Shockwave, I know you can win this buddy."
Buddy? Am I a guy now? She thought as the electricity from her cheeks formed another bright wave that flowed gracefully, yet dangerously, across the floor at Droga again. All things considered, she liked Droga the best of all she's battled.

Jen gasped as Droga was hit. The gastly rolled over as she floated up wheezing, the grin wasn't there as had been earlier. But, Droga was still up. With only 2 HP to spare, it was looking grim. She had to use the last of her power to try and knock Emi out.
Jen smiled and pointed at Emi. "C'mon Droga! Use Nightshade!"
The gastly panted and puffed as she charged towards the raichu. The comforting darkness of Nightshade burst forth from her and flew at her opponent. Droga felt drained.

"Dodge and counter with Volt Tackle!"
Emi dodged the attack, taking a little more damage than last time as the Nightshade came at her. She spun around, the lightning flying wildly from her cheeks as she ran towards the Gastly again, hoping it did at least just enough damage to knock Drogan out.
