Ah! I was so upset! About a year ago, they did the best thing in the world, they made Lestat a musical on Broadway.

I was so excited, I wanted to see it soooo bad! The actors were amazing, specialy the one that played Lestat. He was an amazing singer.

But, when it went out, it was a hit for about......2 days. But then it died, and they had to pull it. I was so angery.......ah!

Do you guys think it should have stayed on Broadway?

The cast did vidoe entrys as well as they got ready for the musical:

It was cancelled because it was worse compared to the San Fransico version. The SF was word for word the book. The New York version was changed because of the homosexual air, even though there was still a lot of it. It was good, but for some fans it was horrible. I personally liked it.There were of course things I hated; the screwed up Nicki with his assissted suicide, and most of the characters never actually met. It didn't cover as much.
The music was excellent, and the actors amazing, but it still didn't bring in the revenue. I think a major factor was that it was released at the wrong time. It was set in Spring. Most people don't go until Summer and it would have made a better fall show, since October has Halloween and vampires go nicely. There is a petition to get it back, and once I find the link again I'll post it. If they had kept the original script, it would have survived. Though some of the additions to the NY verison (Right Before My Eyes) were beneficial, over all, the mass changes killed it. I spoke to Drew Sarich, who played Armand, and he was very disappointed at how it turned out. He was excited to play Armand after Jack Noseworthy left, and he would have loved for it to last a lot longer.

You are one lucky girl to have seen it!

Do you know if they have any soundtracks of it? I wanted to get one, but I had a friend who said they weren't selling any.

They never produced it officially, but I do have one. I'll upload it it later for you. I have both the SF and the NY. I'll PM you once I get it up. I think they should have released it, because they did spend the entire day in the recording studio. Mine is a live copy, so there are some minor sounds (in one song there's something rewinding that sounds like a dental drill) but it's all good quailty.

I thought so. I was actually supposed to see The Phantom of the Opera. My band went on a trip to New York, but they messed up the dates when we placed the first ticket order, so the shows we wanted were sold out. Our choices changed, and it was Lestat or The Drowsey Chaperone. My mom went with us, and she complained about the entire time. I thought it was good for what it was worth (hell, Anne Rice loved it), but it did have it's errors. Sadly, since it was a school trip, I didn't get to meet the cast. Then I heard it closed, and it was a very sad day. It actually made more revenue than Wicked, so I dont fully understand why it closed.

I would love you forever if you put up the soundtrack for it. I have been trying to get my hand on it forever but it is near impossible to find.

I too believe it to be an awful shame both for it to have been modified and also for it to have been canceled so very quickly. It did not really give the play a fair chance as far as I am concerned.

I should start charging. I could make a nice little profit..but it's technically illegal...damn.
