A seventeen year old girl walked outside of a dome shaped building. She'd fought within it's walls plenty of times, but only once in the arena's outside. It was time for a small change. Behind her walked one of her dearest friends, as well as her first pokemon, a Raichu named Emi. She had two other pokemon, but they weren't quite as close as these two were, so they stayed in their balls most of the time. "Here we are Emi, one of the grass arenas."
The Raichu smiled happily and ran into the arena, eagerly awaiting her next foe.

Day had forgotten to returrn Aaron to his pokeball since their last battle, thus they walked onto the grassy field side by side. Never had they fought on grass, or even out of a walled arena. "Aaron, let's do our best, especially since we're not used to this kind of battle field." He nodded and walked to his place in the arena, one head sorrowful while the other moved around in excitement. "Let's go, use quick attack!" By then, Aaron was used to usin this move. He confidently strode forward, and about halfway there he sped up and dashed to Emi.

Emi watched the Doduo carefully so she'd know when to get out of the way, but they were just too fast. Right as she was about to move they hit, and powerfully. She restrained a cry of shock and pain as she flew backwards, never had she met an opponent so much bigger than her that could attack so powerfully on the first try. She shook herself forcefully and got up, looking straight at the Doduo.
"Use Zap Cannon Emi!"
Emi smiled as her yellow cheeks crackled and popped, sparks flying. A ball of electricity formed before her and, when she was happy with the size of the bright yellow and blue electric ball, she pushed it forward powerfully, aiming for the thicker body of the Doduo.

Aaron squawked out of surprise as the ball of electricity hit him. It disappeared as it did, leaving his body puffed out from static. He pushed his feathers down with his beak and waited for Day to give the command.
"You're fine, use peck!"
Standing up straight and staying still, Aaron waited until his beaks grew a bright white, and then, smiling invisibly, he came for the move.

Damn this Doduo was fast! Emi didn't have a chance at dodgin the attack and took it full on, taking a couple steps backwards and grunting with pain everytime a beak struck her, a grimace on her face.
"Counter with Shockwave!"
Her eyes opened and sparks flew from her cheeks again. This time, instead of making a ball, it flattened out and widened with a shocking yellow and blue light that intermingled. The electricity rose up and moved towards the Doduo like a wave before chrashing down.

Aaron's skinny legs collapsed as the force of the attack pushed him down. He closed his eyes and waited fo the pain to subside, but the shocking feeling never left him. Dazed, he got back up slowly and looked at Emi with a new respect.
"We may be winning, but you can't get even the slightest bit cocky!" Day said with a trace of worry in her voice. "Use body slam!"
He bounced into the air, both high and fast, and flew without wings towards Emi. Comign closer, he pulled himself down, and with the help of gravity fell towards the Raichu.

Emi grinned at the Doduo as it fell to the ground, satisfied at how much damage her attack had done when her others had been, well, crap. Even when he was in the air he was difficult to dodge, for he wasn't in it for vey long before he came crashing down on the Raichu's hindquarters when she tried to dodge, she was getting slower now. Wriggling out from underneath the bird she heard Spinel yell Iron Tail. When she was clear of the bird her tail glowed white as iron coated it, the lightning bolt at the end looking like a blade as she jumping, swinging her body around and aiming for one of Aaron's heads.

All Aaron saw was the dull-tipped lightning bolt before rolling back to Day from the force of the attack. His once happy head was now like the other, sad and hurt. The whole world seemed to whirl instead of his mind. Day felt sorry for her companion, but she couldn't take the time to comfort him.
"Aaron, mud slap!"
He slowly dug up some mud from underneath the grass, and then got up and flung it to Emi.

( I keep forgetting this is a grass field. xD; )
Once again she made a pretty successful hit, the Doduo falling back, the head that had seemed excited now looked as sad as the other one. Seeing him scrape up mud from the ground she could only think he was going to throw it at her, and she sidestepped, some of the mud landing on her foot. She ignored it though as she waited for Spinel.
"Attack with Volt Tackle." Her luck might have been bad in the beginning, but now it seemed as if it was beginning to pick up. Emi was still in danger though, she had just enough health to hold onto before she fainted. Spinel could only anticipate the final attack the Doduo would unleash.
Lightning seemed to burst from the yellow cheeks and cover her entire body. She couldn't hear anything over the crackling of the electricity, and she bolted forward in a straight line, she didn't normally do that. When she was close enough she leapt, aiming for the underside of Aaron, waiting for the electricity to transfer from her to him.

Aaron's luck really was dwindling, and as the mouse came in to attack, he closed his eyes and waited for the pain, too late to avoid it.
Even though he braced himself, Aaron still squealed. But he got back up, squinting from the aftershock, ready to move.
"Come on, swift!"
He shot stars of a faint shade of yellow at Emi, controlling them to aim for her stomach. His aim was unstable though, due to the massive health loss.

Sweet, another successful hit. It looked like her luck was picking up, while Aaron's was going down. But you never know if things would turn around, they had a nasty habit of doing that. Emi saw the stars coming towards her and was able to move out of the way, but one stray star managed to catch her in the shoulder. "Rai." She grunted in pain, feeling her health dwindle lower and lowe, her becoming slower and slower.
"Emi, you're doing great. Use Zap Cannon again." THis fight was beginning to draw into a close, and most likely with Aaron's next attack Emi would fall.
Sparks coming from her cheeks once more, a ball of electricity formed before her, growing larger and larger. With a Raichu battle cry she launched it forward, hoping that it would be a good, strong and powerful blow.

The blow was strong, but not enough to knock Aaron out. He was thrown back a few feet, but quickly getting back up, he trotted back to his spot on the field. Day was getting worried though, and needed a stroke of luck-badly.
"Drill peck!" she ordered.
Aaron's two beaks spun faster and faster, and when they got to a point where they reached their maximum, he ran forward and tried to aim for the top of Emi's head.

Another good hit, but not great. She needed to knock him out, and fast before he could do the same to her. The Raichu watched as the Doduo ran towards her, it's beaks spinning furiously. Ok, that had to be one of the scariest things she'd seen so far in a fight. Spinning beaks?! Come on!
Emi tried to dodge the attack, but the damage dealt to her was too great. Atleast she was able to save her head, she was struck in the shoulder instead as she tried to move to the side. She fell to the ground, rather limp.
"I knew it." Spinel said, striding across the grassy field to her Raichu. "You battled great Emi, but now it's time to rest." She said as she reached for a red and white pokeball. It was Emi's, but she was rarely in it. A beam of red light shot out as she returned, Spinel standing to look at the trainer before speaking. "That's some Doduo you have, it was a great battle." I'm sure glad Emi was able to control herself this time.

Another unimpressive move had won them the battle, although again it was very close. The beaks stopped, and a miracle made them land in the right place, where Aaron's mouth wasn't upside down.
He ran back to Day, and tapping his pokeball, she returned him. "Good job, Aaron!" she said to it.
"Thanks, and your Raichu was tough too. That was a suspenseful battle, at least for us." Day told Spinel. "We should batle again sometime, bye!" wih that, she turned and walked away.
Inside his pokeball, Aaron heard those last words spoken by Day. And as he did, he wondered if they would be so lucky when they batled again.
