Well, let's see, the pro-choicers claim the fetus to be not alive and to be a parasite, yet, by definition, a parasite is alive. Therefore, the fetus is alive and because it's a human fetus it's a human being.

La Veuve Zin Scribblemouse Actually, I hope they just don't exist, because the only Jehova's Witness aspiring doctor I've ever met had the bedside manner of a wolverine. Actually, no, that's not fair on the wolverine. This girl was much worse. She had a go at a friend of mine because my friend had donated blood. I missed the part in the bible where it says "thou shalt not receive transfused blood." Though I do recall something about drinking blood...maybe they think it's the same? neutral An Adventist wouldn't get very far in a secular medical school...I suppose they could have their own school, and treat other members of their sect, but if my doctor ever criticized me for donating blood, I'd be out of there and demand my copay back. They do. They see it as a form of cannabalism.

this is an interesting thread, to say the least....
I don't agree with Plan B because if indeed the egg DOES get fertilized, and the Plan B makes it impossible for the fetilized egg (hence BABY given the right time and conditions) to implant where it would be able to grow into said BABY then it has been effectively aborted. For the sake of arguement, the other opinion is that it prevents the egg from being released and should be used regularly to 'help these poor women'. Since we don't KNOW and CAN'T know when or if the egg has already been released in the cycle, then we must assume that it already has been released and any abortofacient will cause a termination.
If the egg hasn't been released and the sperm can only survive in the uterus for 72 hours, then chances are most of the time it's not needed, but given anyway.
Final thought: we hear much about research that shows harmful effects of HRT or Hormone Replacement Therapy for older women. Since all plan B is is basically taking an entire months worth of the Pill all at once, can this be healthy? There are no long term studies on this, and I am not willing to see young women who have bought into the whole "if it's legal it's ok" lie. This IS being used as a form of birth control, not just as an emergency thing, and as such people need to be more educated about the possible effects it will have on a woman's body as well as to the possible child.

I listed the dosages in some thread around here for comparison. And the adverse effects of birth control are well known. Increased blood pressure, higher risk of heart attack, etc.? I think I'll stick to oral sex, thnx...

As far as i'm concerned, a privately owned institution can do whatever they want. Then, we hold the ultimate power in our hands as People. We and the invisible hand of the market will regulate it. Its really amazing how it works every time!
But, the liberals by their very definition think they know better than anyone else and want the government to institute massive programs that are only favorable to their way of warped thinking. Anyone who argues is considered stupid and a bigot.
Why can't we all just run our own lives?
