Hiro grew an expression of distaste as the two ascended. "If you don't mind me saying so, doesn't 'up' seem like the wrong type of direction for this kind of setting? One would typically find themselves going down in a situation like this. At least I would think so." Every so often, Hiro dropped a dab of water from a glass flask on the steps. A sort of barrier one could say considering that it was holy water he was carrying.

"Either these stairs will lead to the surface and we can see what other way these people are comming in from, or they lead to something else in the mine that's been better dug out. Either way," He kicked the step infront of him." A sign of people leads to people." After taking a few more steps he noticed a light at the top. "Stay close. We're almost at the top."

Dekrin looked around when he reached the last step. It was a foremans office, littered with paper. He bent down and picked up a few pieces by his feet. "These are obituaries." He said as he read. "Some of these are dated years ago. This one was from before paper heralding was even available to the public." He stepped further inside and waved Hiro inside. "Help me search for anything useful. We'll need as much evidence as possible to nail whoever's behind all this."

"Is there anything in particular that you are looking for?" Hiro rummaged through the stack of papers but found nothing but obituaries piled on top of obituaries. "Well, I say that we can assume that the culprit is a pack rat no?"

"We can assume the culprit has connections to the house, likes to keep tabs on who they raise and has probably been without a good woman for far too long. We need to find something that could connect people to raising the undead. These cut outs won't be much. Journals, magical artifacts, that sort of thing usually helps. Even a copy of "Necromancy for Dimwits" would suffice." He walked up to the desk in the middle of the room and began searching through the drawers, breaking the locks off of any that wouldn't open.

Hirotoshi roamed over a couple of the desks that he was nearby and was already skimming over when he came across a rather dark and dismal looking book. "Hmm... this looks like an interesting read." He spoke but only barely audible. "Book of the Dead... must be a horror novel." Hiro began to read through the incantations not aware of what he was mumbling. A low rumble could be heard from outside the walls but Hiro did not take notice but in face continued to read.

Dekrin snapped into action as Hiro heared the rumble around him "Stop!" He rushed over and snatched the book from Hiro's hands and drew his weapon, now in the shape of a longsword. He quickly eyed through the page as the rumble got louder. "Damn," he cursed, eyeing the walls and the floor. He grabed the side of a book case and brang it crashing to the floor. "Keep on your guard, something knows we're here."

Hiro firmly stood his ground and just started where the book did rest in his hands. Once he finally came back to reality a rather snide remark forced itself from his lips, "I suppose it's too late to ask if this is my fault."

Dekrin didn't bother to respond. He could see the walls slowly break away as skeletal hands clawed their way through the dirt and rock. He raised his weapon, now a large flail and motioned Hiro to the stairs. "Don't let anything touch that book."

Hiro didn't need to hear the instructions twice. He shoved the book into the universe that seemingly existed under his robes and with a quick step or two he dashed for the stairs in somewhat of a blind manner.

Dekrin quickly followed, stepping on hands thet began rising from the floors and striking a few of the undead that were clawing their way through the walls. Reaching the stairs after Hiro he glanced back, picked a small vial from his belt and threw it across the room "Run!" Was all he could yell as the room errupted in flames, sending him off his balance and tumbling down the stairs.
