"The rock?" she asked, momentarily startled "I... just kicked it." she said numbly, "If I hurt the tree, I'm sorry. I was just angry." she said, thinking maybe he'd come to accuse her of that, which he had a right to, she admitted, she had a bit of a short fuse lately. She wasn't sure what he was saying, or if he was making fun of her, but he couldn't help half smiling as well. He was right about the wars though. So was it so wrong of her not to want to be involved? She was about to say something, when she remembered that she was still mad at him from before and shut her mouth. "Anyway," she said to Shift "That's what I need these lessons for. As soon as I'm in total control, no one will find out. What's so wrong with hating this war anyway? I'm just, like, a conscientious objector, or something like that."

"I think you misunderstood me, and I'm not just talking about the rock. But I was serious: if you really worked on it, that rock trick could really come in handy. And as for what happened before, I admit that it was a judgement call, but Ace is a bit too valuable to have his life extinguished by Shift's tail." And Phorce meant it. Besides he'd purposefully toned down the fireball so that it wouldn't have done much but singe Shift's hair. "And for the war...well, you know where I stand. It's just something we have to live through, for the moment anyway. Who knows, maybe we're the ones who'll actually see the end of it." That, surely was wishful thinking, and had probably been said by many a mutant, but it was still hope.

((*forgots about her sub-forum* sweatdrop )) "Conshe-ens-a** whatever," Shift scoffed. "If you don't have a side, you lose. If you have a side, you have a chance of winning. If you ask me, all the regs will be dead by the end of this. And we will see the end of it, not those brotherhood thugs." She stopped walking. "I'm going to eat dinner. Coming?"

Phorce pulls back his sleeve and glances as the digital face. "Isn't it a little early to be thinking about eating?" As if on cue, his stomach audibly grumbles. He clears his throat and glances away to keep his face from going red. "Yeah, well, you may have a point...." He really didn't want to be arguing anymore: who would die, who really would see the end of the conflict, whether or not anyone had to have a side in the conflict. "Do you think that our superiors are going to try and organize a counter-strike? Or just shore up the defences?"

Echo frowned a moment longer, and then decided to forgive him. "Fine." she said. Even though she wanted to get the last word in this, she surpressed a retort, to both of them, and just turned to leave. In her opinion, not matter which side you were on you lost as there were bound to be losses to both sides. She opened the door to the library, when Shift said something about food. "I was.. gonna.." She stopped. She was hungry, but she'd wanted to write to her parents. She hesitated, then let go of the handle and let the dor swing shut. "Sure, let's go get something to eat."

Shift slipped in between forms to her normal self as she entered the kitchen. "I don't know what they're going to do. I don't think they're ruffled enought to organize a counter-strike just because of Ace," Shift said, her voice softer now as she slowly calmed down. She opened the cabinets and rifled through them. Seeing nothing that struck her fancy, she scanned the counter. There was a pizza box. She opened it. Still some left. She grabbed a piece and began eating.

Even Phorce perked up a bit at the mention of food. he was usually a lot better at carry snack bars or something around with him, but today hadn't exactly gone smoothly from the first moment. Especially with how his body dealt with energy, well...he would just have to be more careful. Upon following into the kitchen, Phorce immediately went into the one of the cupboards and grabbed two snack bars. He pocketed one, and tore the other open to start munching on as he went over to the fridge and pulled out a yogurt pack (think of the little pouches that are favored in Japan). He set it on the counter, and pulled loose the wrapper of the already half-consumed snack bar, that protruded for between his teeth. the bar inched towards his mouth bit by bit - one could tell that the manuever was well practiced. Phorce then pulled out one of the larger drawers, revealing a contained, and smaller, fruit crisper, and pulled out an apple. The fruit went onto the counter beside the yogurt, as the last bit of the snack bar disappeared into his mouth. Phorce swallowed the last bit of bar. "So, is it gonna be sandwiches, or i could probably do a small bit of pasta....?" he offered, already starting to dig through the cupboards for other options.

"Sure, pasta sounds nice." she said. She was a pretty good cook herself, but she prefered baking to be honest. "I'm gonna make something for desert, what do you guys want?" she asked, in a significantly better mood now that she was in the kitchen. She really liked cooking; it was so far the only use she had found for an improved sense of smell or taste, which were otherwise completely useless. "I can make brownies or short bread or tarts or eclairs or cookies or fudge or, well, why don't you just say what you want and I'll tell you if I can make it." she laughed, knowing she was rambling again, which she tended to do when she was talking about one of her passions.

Shift raised an eyebrow. Apparently there were advantages to having these teammates. "Yeah, pasta sounds nice. And maybe just some cookies, Emily," Shift said. She continued munching on her cold pizza anyway. It would be a waste to throw it out.
"Who said you could eat that?" a familiar, french-accented voice said. Renauld suddenly materialized in the kitchen, staring at Shift.
"Uh..." Shift stared back at him, pizza still in mouth.
Renauld rolled his eyes. "Ask next time," he said and then turned to the others. "Training session, first thing tomorrow morning. That means 7 AM, outside the danger room."

Phorce found himself freezing in place as he had started to crouch to get into one of the lower cabintes to brag a good sized pot to boil some water in. He looked up and over at Renauld, and found a note of irritation rising inside of himself. He cleared his throat. "7AM it is. But can I ask a simple question? How the heck are you able to mask yourself like that?" Phorce doubted anyone but Renauld would understand what he meant by that. Even before Tobias realized it was a part of his abilities manefesting, he'd always been able to locate and identify people within a cetain range without even looking - especially if he already knew them. Suffice to say, it had creeped out far too many; ever since, Tobias had tried to keep the more passive ability quiet - there has never been a reason to tell others that such a thing doesn't just happen while actively searching for other energies. He wasn't exactly expecting a responce, though, and he figured he'd best not keep himself starving in the meantime, so he quickly chose a pot, and took it to the sink to fill from the tap. He'd need to grab a thing of pasta, the saly, some oil, and start making a sauce; he wondered if the kitchen had a good supply of garlic?

"My energy signature is much more subtle when I'm dispersed, and you are no doubt tired from today's efforts," Renauld replied to Phorce. "Oh, and we may have another student joining us tomorrow for the danger room session. She's slightly more advanced than you all are." Renauld then left the normal way.
