Tezca Frost Not sure what kind of owl it was? Did not kill our cook the owl. Suppose should count it then as the strangest food I've ever eaten? If its any better this was some time ago,but much like hakarl its a food will not forget. Said you also have had rabbit what did you think of it? We had it in a light stew. It was pretty good and very tender. Hard to describe the taste but I would have it again. heart

I wouldn't exactly call them weird, but I guess the most different things I have eaten are moose and smoked ptarmigan.
And a lot of traditional Newfoundland food is considered to be very weird by many people. Such as Jigg's Dinner or Fish and Brewis.

Generally moose tastes a lot like beef (just a little more 'woodsy' rofl ), especially when it is prepared like that. I'm not a fan of beef, so I don't really care for moose either.
There are a lot of moose in Newfoundland (actually more than the population of the island!) so its a common meat, and I've heard of people using it in everything from stew to lasagna.

Ah, I've eaten caribou jerky. My uncle lives in the Yukon and loves hunting, so he sent us some he prepared himself one Christmas. Don't think I've tried moose though.

I don't think I've eaten any bizarre food, but blood pudding (or black pudding as we call it here) might seem bizarre to some people. It's basically cooked blood, with seasoning and grains and so on added. It's very tasty, even if it is gross lol

Another weird combination I like is mustard on bananas.
I've had squid (its really popular here), but didn't really like it. Too chewy. How did you find it?

Hmm mustard and banana? How interesting, it doesn't sound so bad seeing as banana can be used in savory dishes too. I had it in sushi, I really like it smile
