[ Tell me about it. Just act like you were aboard an NPC Pelican the whole time. Backtrack, and start your post from when I had Logan say, "Dust off in two minutes." Or whatever. xd Then continue from there.]

((I have another idea.))
Antares grunted in the Medical pelican. He was about to bust a fuse. He was switched from a squad about to be deployed...to medical. he knew he shouldn't have been a medic. First Slavik gave him hell for it, now the Corps. does. He swore and went to light a cigarette before a fist hit him on the shoulder. A concerned looking private shook his head. Under normal circumstances, he would've flipped the boy off, but he was too lazy. His mind was on something else. As he cursed the brass one last time, he saw gold. A gold leaf.

"Shame we can't smoke in these things. I'd kill every Covenant in New Mombasa for a cigarette right about now." Lipton grunted as he shifted to a slightly more comfortable position. Damnit he was a Major not a civilian! Why the hell did he had to be treated like some sort of VIP medical evacuee? His injuries weren't that bad, a few broken ribs, some internal bleeding, lots of bruises and a collapsed lung that had been replaced with a flash-clone. "Sergeant, Antares right?" Lipton hadn't actually seen the man much. Sure he had been present at company briefings and all, but he never really bothered to introduce himself. The reason that Lipton was still pissed off about the Fort incident was that he knew most of the men down there. Hell, Slavik had been his old C.O. and eventually his platoon Sergeant when he became a First Lieutenant. He stopped reminiscing, Slavik would kick his a** if he were alive to do it. Instead, he focused on the task at hand. If the Covenant were coming to Earth, why send a single ship to attack a useless base while the rest of your fleet attacks a city on the other side of the planet? If they had wanted to create a diversion, they could have easily done that. Perhaps the CCS cruiser over the fort had not been there under orders. Was there conflict within the Covenant ranks? He prayed to god that if there was, one side would be sympathetic to the Humans. They needed all the allies they could get. Even if they were split-chin freaks.

"Hell yes, sir." Antares said as he edged closer to the man, then eyed the man's ********, thought you were made up, Lip." Antares said, smiling. "Slavik was my squad lead before you got transferred. He said you were a good kid, just got thrown up the ranks too fast. However, he did say you were always too serious. So, I guess Major suits you...Speakin' of, where is Slavik. You'd think the old hellhound would be on the first boat planetside." He got lost in his own ramblings

Lipton sighed. "The all knowing, all seeing powers that be decided to nuke a certain fort where our mutual friend was. The ******** also neglected to tell me about it until they had already given the orders to pull out, and they kept me from mounting a rescue op." He would have made some sort of violent movement, but that would hurt, so he was forced to sit and brood.

Antares's eyes widened at the news, but his mind quickly rationalized ******** ,I bet you given enough time, the b*****d would've slugged it out of there himself." He looked down to the bulkhead, the heard the pilot say something before the pelican started getting jounced around as they entered the atmosphere. "Recommend you find yourself a handhold, Major." Antares said as one of his hands grabbed onto a handle in the bulkhead, the other onto his medical supplies. A biofoam canister bounced out of the pack and rolled into the cabin.
((What say we take this to New Mombasa, Hege?))

Spartan G232: Alex, code name: Caliber. He smiles to himself under his helmet. He felt the tingle in his flesh as the energies flowed through him. He shouldered his weapon onto his shoulder and stepped into the nearest Pelican. He looked over the Marines who gawked, the Spartans seemed to have that effect on Marines lately.
He shifted in his armor as he stood, the Pelican seats not exactly built for the large posteriors of the Spartans. He activated the inter-squad comms "So what is our ETA?" He asked, having been uninformed of anything.

Captain Spiers leaned in the doorway, not exactly surprised that there was a Spartan aboard. "ETA, five minutes from dust-off. We're going directly to New Mombasa. No touch down, HALO insertion, get your gear ready. We're going in hard and fast." The ODSTs aboard the Pelican were being sent in via Pelican airdrops rather than drop pods. That was happening too, but the drop bays weren't large enough for everyone. The Pelicans were skimming the surface, popping their hatches and dropping the Marines into the combat zone in a perpetual cycle. Pelicans would make the drop, turn around, and come back home. It was an effort to get as many people on the ground while using as little ordinance as possible. Drop Pods were expendable but expensive, and the UNSC didn't have refineries on board their ships to make new ones.

"Copy that Captain, lock and load Marines." He said in his cold voice. His hand pulled the rifle from his shoulder, and his other hand slid onto the bolt, and jerked it back, causing a round to slide into the chamber. He looked around to the faces through his reflective visor, taking note of who they were, and tieing them into his personal communications. His on board computer ran a scan on a simple thought, one thing he appreciated was how fast the new tech ran, and smoothly at that. He smiled under his helmet thinking back to the conflicts he had seen, and those he could only imagine.

"Captain Spiers!" Ssgt. Connors yelled while running into the shuttle bay and gearing up. "Is their anymore room on that pelican, sir?" he asked.
