And now, for Maelthra's words of wisdom:

When turnind around on a back road by a river, make sure to think of the following:

- Water + Dirt = Mud. And, when by a river or lake, said Mud is very deep.
- Water is less dense than mud, so you will not see how deep it is underneith.
- Bald tires = Bad.
- Lack of front driveshaft = worse.

Remember, do not attempt to turn around unless you know the ground it solid. and when approaching puddle, Do not shift into 3rd gear and 2wd high, then get up to about 70kph. Speed is good, but unless you know you can get through it just means you'll be digging out your framerails for a tow point.

Lastly: Kubota Tractors are great for pulling s**t. Remember that the farmer is your best friend if you do not own a winch.

you got owned

I just hope you got everything needed for the suspension. That is one thing I would like to see when it's completed, partly because you actually bothered to add things to the appearance unlike everyone else here who love sleepers and only sleepers. So, since it has some looks to it it might be more interesting to see than sleepers.

Thanks Calentar. You're real supportive. :XP:

And J, there's not much I'm doing to the suspension anyway. It's just bigger tires and some paint that has marked the external mods.

Speaking of which: I'm losing my beginner's permit next wednesday, and going for my road test. Wish me luck.

That and 33" tires will be ordered on wednesday night, and delivered on Friday. biggrin

33's are wimpy...come back when you are 38" or bigger. i guess though if you dont have the lift anything more than a 35 will rub....i have 38's on mine xp

33"s will fit with no lift and no rub.

AND I can turn them with a 6-cyl and stock gears. 35"s mean a 3" lift, and 38"s mean that I need 1 ton axles (Dana 60, 14-bolt, etc) or else I'll start breaking s**t left and right. That and I can afford 33" tires, at $180 bucks each.

33"s are perfect. People who say that 38"+ is the only way to go have too much money and too little driving skill.

Big tires = Overcompensation.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 24, 2005 9:43 pm

bullshit on the compensation. just keeps things in proportion for my truck...33's would look retarded on my truck. i have dana's too so yay there. i am getting ready to buy a locker for the front. i will get you some pictures of it. i got a bed comming soon cause the one on it is junk. the cab is getting body work done so i can paint it...it was rattlecanned flat black rolleyes

edit: pictures

keep in mind i got this truck for 300 dollars. no mechanical problems at all. its a highboy chassis and drivetrain(if you know what that is then the 300 is like stealing from a child) has a 78 or 79 f250 body on it.

Do me two things:

1) Link the pictures. Dialup is getting killed.

2) Please, Please, PLEASE weld/bolt those liftblocks down. I watched a F150 slide off the frame one day because tthree body bolts were not tightened on the liftblocks. gonk

Otherwise, yeah. 38's fit a F-250 better than they do mine, and you have all the parts needed already (Heavy axles and engine)
But I'm also short on cash for gas and parts, so what I got works great.

yeah the blocks are welded to the frame and the bed bolts to the blocks...though in this picture the bed is already unbolted...its not even on the truck now.

and you are right about the not having the engine for it part...i cant imagine driving your truck with big tires. my lil bro has a 300 in his f150...talk about being a dog....cant stant it. my truck has a 390 in it but i am considering putting a 460 i have in it.

You also say he's fruity, lol.

I'd love a 390, but They're pretty hard on gas, I've been told.

As for the Power of the 300ci: It prolly wouldn't turn 38s very well, but It'll cook 36's without a care in the world. biggrin So when I get the 33"s they should be perfect, and they'll look great in the fenders.

this truck has 4:10s front and rear and gets 16-18mpg with a 4 speed....and it will light all 4 in first and 2nd and bark 3rd

Well, when I had the front driveshaft in, I dumped the clutch at 3200 rpm, 4wd High, and Second gear with the result of launching the truck, with the rear squatted down to the overloads. When I dumped the clutch in 2wd, It smoked them until I hit about 40 kph.

That was the old 31" Bridgestone Duellers, which are mostly bald and completely dead.

When I was in town the other day I saw a big yellow Jeep that had been lifted up, and had really big fat tires on it, as well as a full cage. It ******** off from the lights. Seemed like a pretty powerful Jeep. *shrug*
