"That's the smartest thing I've heard all day."
He shimmied around a hole and worked slowly down what was left of the stairs. The building really was falling apart, he could hear the sound of falling glass and metal, which caused him to increase his pace. He really didn't want to die by being crushed to death in a collapsing building. They sure didn't make 'em strong enough to withstand the force of a slipspace rupture. Oh well.

Spartans 103 and 104 moved quickly through the rubble, passing through an alleyway and finding Spartans 087 and 108 on a spectre along with another Marine. Taylor knew about Logan's Captaincy, though Fred didn't. He snapped a quick mental salute and gave the smile motion. He doubted that Kelly or Logan had known he had even been alive. Unlike Fred and Kelly, who had been so busy with the S-III project, he had been doing things that even ONI sZero didn't want to talk about. Lord Hood and a few others in ONI knew about his existence and actions. Hell, he was one of many Spartans to be marked MIA. Fred nodded to Kelly and Logan, though he noticed a slight alteration of Taylor's posture to something resembling that of being in the presence of an officer. It wasn't much, simply a slight shift in his weight. But every move a Spartan made was intentional, so Fred knew something was up. Something he didn't know about.

"Antares was already taking ragged breaths. Damn it was too long since he was out on the field like this.
"Lip, there was a time when I thought I'd never do this again." He said between breaths as he struggled to keep in stride, and with a wounded man, ******** was he slipping. As hey ran past the central desk, he could tell which line led to the inner city, mostly due to the large sign tat had 'New Mombasa' in bold letters with a large arrow pointing left. He turned with Lipton and continued running.

Axel had just reached the top of the half building when he got the message, he was relieved there was someone else it made him feel slightly safer. He looked out at the area he was in, it was almost empty other than the building and a few scattered covenant, in disarray because their commander had left. Suddenly a marker appeared oh his hud. He looked out one more time and started towards the stairs. "well" he said to himself "it looks like I'm not alone after all then go kick some alien brains out.

"My apologies, Captain." Kelly replied over the private COM channel, at least when he finished performing the task that the lesser ranked Spartan had asked him to do. Spartan-087 heard the marine's question as she slowed the alien craft down before coming to a stop, seeing as two more of their 'brothers' had appeared right their name. "That is up for Spartan-108 to decide." Kelly spoke to marine while taking a second to look at him, and then turned her attention toward Spartans 103 and 104.

While she climbed out of the pilot's seat of the alien craft, Kelly watched as the smile motion of theirs was completed only after a mental salute was given. Spartan-087 returned the same smiling gesture with the fingers on her right hand to both of the Spartans. Kelly noticed and returned the nod that she had gotten from Fred.

But at the same time, she too took heed that Taylor has shifted slightly in his posture. Spartan-087 made a mental note of the movement, but paid no further attention to the movement made by Spartan-103. Instead, Kelly's attention shifted toward Logan who was mounted on the back of the Spectre and awaited to see if the Spartan who was ranked higher than herself had anything to say anything about what was currently going on in the midst of the rubble adorned alleyway.

Jason hopped out of the Spectre and looked ahead. "Permission to scout ahead, Captain?" He had a feeling that even though he was accompanying now four Spartans, that they were going to have to know their surroundings well. The worst was probably yet to come. He needed that feeling of safety to be able to take a breather. He didn't have that feeling.

[ Italics indicate that Captain M. Hunter is speaking(i corrected your post Razgriz. ]

Logan hopped from the Spectre, landing heavily on his booted feet. Seeing most everyone on his peripheral vision, he placed two right fingers over his helmet's visor, then released the pose, acknowledging all the things said.

"Private First Class Ellington, permission denied. Our priority is to reach Lieutenant Mendez's location ASAP. We-". Morgan had been approaching behind Logan with ease, finally catching up. Logan paused for a millisecond as he spoke, and turned around. He had barely noticed the yellow blips on his motion tracker. Six of them. He realized it was a group of five ODSTs and one Marine. Two of the ODSTs waved carelessly, then strode over and looked up at the Spartans. Then, the one towards the front finally spoke.

"Captain, sir. Desperado-" he said, pausing for a moment, finally noticing the rest of the group. "-Er, Captain Morgan L. Hunter, reporting." he corrected himself, snapping to attention. The other four ODSTs followed suit.
"Good work Desperado. It seems we have everyone here? Good. Now, as I was saying. Ellington does make a point though. We'll need a forward team to disperse any threats, then we can have a fire support group behind on the Spectre. We'll put-" he paused, for a moment, checking the list of people as he placed names onto his squad. "-Sergeant Graves, Private First Class Ellington, Master Gunnery Sergeant Stonecypher, and Lance Corporal Klingensmith, mount up on the Spectre as the Alpha element. Stonecypher, take Segafe with you, he'll help you pilot the craft."

After a moment of pausing, Logan gestured to the remaining seven soldiers.

"Staff Sergeant Esqueta, Spartan-087, you two can scout ahead the furthest, as you are the fastest of the group, one Spartan, one non-Spartan. You are the Beta-A element. Spartan-103 and Spartan-104 and myself, we will follow up behind the Beta-A element, and give them support fire. We are the connection between Alpha and Beta. Sergeant Parker, and Desperado, you are on over watch, scale the rooftops and alert us if we come under any flanking maneuvers, and try to prevent them. Any questions or suggestions?" he said, wanting to consider possible options that had been left open.

Jason assumed his previous seat, this time, getting a better grip. He still couldn't activate the weapons, or he would've taken the turret. And Spartan-108 already designated a driver.

The two Spartans nodded, they would never salute in the field, not that it mattered. The Covenant wouldn't waste plasma shots if they saw this gathering, they would probably call in an orbital strike. One Spartan on its own was dangerous but a squad of four? It was suicidal to attack a group of four! Taylor and Fred assumed a phalanx formation behind Logan, once he gave the order to move out, they would move. They didn't act, they thought, which in turn led to their actions. Every movement they made was controlled by thought, so they could be impossibly fast if they really wanted to be, though Kelly was and always would be the fastest of the Spartans.
103 boosted the motion tracker range to 20 meters, the extra five would help in the Close-Quarter street fighting. Even with the Spectre, the Covenant would have the upper-hand if they walked into an Ambush. One well-placed plasma grenade was all it took to kill a Spartan.

Glenn stepped out of cover and took a beam rifle round to the chest, impaling him.

Miles wasn't one to complain about a situation but flying in on a Pelican into New Mombasa, a place that is littered with Covenant wasn't exactly his idea of a good plan. "How long until we get to HQ anyways?" He radioed to the pilot. "Just another ten minutes out." The pilots voice chimed in the ear piece that Miles was wearing. "Nervous Rookie?" A soldier on the bench opposite him chuckled at Miles, but he just shrugged it off, "Not at all, I can't wait to fight for humanity." In his hand he held a single SMG, and had his classic M6C Pistol holstered at his side. He couldn't wait for his first chance to see some action.

After watching Logan remove himself from the rear of the Spectre, Spartan-087 looked away from him for a brief moment and was looking at her former seat in the alien craft. From there, Kelly reached out with her gauntlet covered hand and plucked the S2 AM from the position she had placed it in prior to their arrival in this very spot. While the spartan held the far range weapon down at her side, she became aware that four ODSTs and one marine appeared on her radar and showed up infront of the group a second later.

While Spartan-108 continued to shell out orders to the ODSTs, Kelly had remained standing firm in her current position, even as Logan switched his focus onto herself and the Staff Sergeant. A small concealed smirk momentarily appeared beneath her visor while she boosted the range of the motion tracker up to twenty meters, in order to compensate for this enclosed area. "No suggestions or questions from me." Kelly replied in a monotone voice, for her mind was allready focused upon the task of scouting ahead. While she patiently awaited for the order to move out to be given.

Logan's adept hearing caught the sound of Covenant weaponry, and before he could act, Sergeant G. Graves was shot in the chest. "Baal, get him out of the line of fire!" he called out, dropping to one knee and scanning the area, then boosted his motion tracker. Covenant snipers had already found them? Not good. "Mephisto, Desperado, get on overwatch, NOW! Everyone else, take cover!" he yelled over the external COM. Even the Spartan's armor wouldn't be able to stop a direct shot to the head like that, especially if the they weren't sure where the enemy was. He ran back, and dived behind the Spectre, bracing against it, but not too hard.

Morgan and David stopped for a moment, then rushed towards the nearest building, entering it. It didn't take them long to reach the stairs and ascend them. Morgan held his Rebel AP Assault Rifle at the ready, as David jogged behind him, hefting the 78D-SM Long Gun, an amazing sniper rifle is there was one.

Jason jumped down to take cover beside Logan. I knew we weren't safe. Jason's thought finished right before a Beam Rifle beam hit the Spectre above his head. He ducked down further and drew his M6C pistol. He looked up across the building he was facing to see if anything was up there.

[[Yeah, your not the only one who had missed that before. xp ]]

The spartan's focus at the task at hand was shattered the moment a covenant sniper had opened fire, and had hit Sergeant Graves directly in the chest, puncturing his armor in the process. The moment the order to take cover had begun to leave Logan's mouth, Kelly had allready swiftly jogged over to the area behind the spectre and lightly braced her back against the vehicle.

With her hands gripped tightly on the holding points on the rifle in her grasp, Spartan-087 waited in a defensive position which would permit her to switch to a offensive stance if needed and quickly at that. But for now, Kelly was paying attention to both her motion tracker and her gaze was slowly looking around, even as Mephisto and Desperado made their up to the 'overwatch' position upon the many rooftops above them.

The roar of the engines was overwhelming. Unless someone was on the radio in Miles' ear piece all he could hear was the sound of the air resistance from the nose of the Pelican and the sound of the engine on the wing which was through the solid titanium behind him. He sighed, he hoped that he wasn't a coward in battle, he hoped he had some courage. His thoughts however were broken by the sound of a voice over his radio "Mephisto, Desperado, get on overwatch, NOW! Everyone else, take cover!" Miles was glad to hear the unfamiliar voices. At least their were allies in the region. He spoke to his allies on the Pelican, "Sounds like we're not alone eh?"
