Blujay suddenly growled. "I may not have seen my entire race die by my own blood and kin but I know what it is to be mocked by my race and those who have heard the rumors. I have been betrayed many a time, by those I have both trusted great and little. And all this I have bore with nary an ill word or slice of anger. But now, assuming that just because your life has had it's troubles that no one else has had much the same, that has for once made me angry." She bared her teeth, eyes glinting a frosty cobalt.
The sheep strained vainly to escape, or at least get out of reach, but Blujay pulled him close with a quiet word, "Ελάτε."

Stepping back on the limb, Kaaren faded into the shadows, her voice echoing throughout the clearing as she vanished into the dark trees, "You shall see." Silently sticking to the shadows, she made her way to the caves, her home. Navigating the maze of tunnels, she found her way to the deepest cave, curling up on the stone floor and closing her eyes to the world.

Blujay found a nice old elm tree and curled up nestled in its roots. Baab lay down near her, and soon the two were asleep. Strange dreams and memories swirled around in a haze of color before one in particular jumped out.
"Blu! Hey Blu! Why do you let people get under your skin like that?"
"I don't!"
"Yes you do. I can see it. Your eyes tell it all."
"R-really? Sen, you're joking, right?"
"Believe it, kid. I can read into your soul. Don't mind Cliss, she's just jealous."
Her eyes snapped open as the dream-memory faded.
"περισσότερο από you γνωρίζω Sen" she said quietly to herself.

Blujay wasn't the only one to have dreams of the past, Kaaren tossed and turned, chained into the memory replaying in her dreams. Memories first of happy times, days spent playing with her brother and cousins, wrestling on the cliffs, daring each other to jump off as their wings grew stronger, feeling the constant winds buffeting her feathers as she stood on the rocky ledges. Watching her father emerge from their cave, a strange chill rushing through her. That was the last she would see of her father, after that day she heard only rumors of his betrayal and saw the effects. Her dreams reminded her of the other gryphons, young and old and how they looked at her after that day, as if she was a disease-carying parasite, a burden not worth their time to kill. She watched as the wounded soldiers returned, their ranks thinned out by bloodshed and their familes looking to her as the source of their loss. She watched once more as the war came to their home, heard the dying screams of her former friends and family, watched as those who slaughtered them thanked her trembling form and left her to die.

As hard as she tried, Kaaren could not wake from her nightmare, trapped in her memories she tossed slammed against the walls and floor of the cave, trying to end them.

Waking again from a nightmarish memory, Blujay heard thrashing from the waterfall cave. She slipped into the cave, concerned for the angry she-gryphon despite the mutual irritation, and charmed a ball of yarn she kept in a pocket of her sweater.
"καθοδηγώ" she whispered, as she set it down. It started unraveling, rolling deeper into the caves until at last she came upon the thrashing Kaaren.
"ατάραχος κοιμάμαι!" She growled, casting a spell to stifle dreams. Checking to be sure the spell worked, she backed out of the cave, the enchanted yarn following her out, and settled back where she had been.
"Nightmares." she cursed under her breath, eyes drooping from having to cast such a hefty spell for her.

An odd peace settled over Kaaren and for the first time in ages she slept peacefully. The next morning when she awoke she sensed someone had been in her cave the night before. Could it have been the intruder? Was she responsible for the peace? Curiousity took the best of Kaaren and she glided down to the forest's edge. Spying the stranger sleeping, she looked around for something she could do in return. 'She probably hasn't eaten in a while, but what does she eat?'
Looking around she finally found some large leaves, washed them in the clear water, and laid them out on the ground before the sleeping form. Then she dived into the lake and within moments had three large fish laying on the leaves before the stranger. Seeing her move slightly, and her work done, she ambled into the forest's shadows, unable to fly with wet wings and feathers.

Immediately noticing the fish as she woke, Blujay looked around.
"I don't suppose it was you," she said to the still sleeping ram, "Ah well. You're a vegetarian anyways." She searched for a flat rock, washed it, and built a neat little fire right beside the lake, making sure to dig the pit deep and line it with sand so the fire could not escape. She grilled the fish and ate two, keeping the third warm on the rock by the fire.
"Thank you, wherever you are. I appreciate the gesture and hope it can lead to peace and friendship. In any case, my name should be known. I am Blujay of the family Thene." She called out from beside the fire, "If you are hungry go ahead and take the third fish. Two was plenty for me."

Somewhere... in the forest, there was a cocoon like thing. It had a strange aura around it. Inside was Stephanie. She had never disappeared. That say years ago the Goddess had taken over and put her in a slumber. Soon... Very soon she would re-awaken. The time draws near.

Feeling a little better after her first night of real sleep in ages, Kaaren silently emerged from the treeline, padding up to the fish before laying down warily. Her eyes never left the stranger as she ate the remaining fish.

"Do my eyes deceive, or are you from an ancient family as well? Old magic runs through your veins, as in mine." She said complacently, retreating away from the gryphon and her food out of respect. She had found in the past that that was one of the easiest ways not to get one's face sheared off, being away from others' food.

Pride got the best of Kaaren and she puffed up her feathers to speak, "I am not surprised you don't already know the answer to that question. My race was once known throughout, but that was eons past. Not only is my lineage ancient, but myself as well. As far as gryphons go, I am still young, but by the standards of other races, I am quite ancient." Head raised in pride, she looked down her beak at the stranger. "So. Who are you and why have you come here?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:42 pm

"As I have said, I am Blujay of the family Thene, one of the oldest lines of sphinx there is. As for why I have come, your guess is as good as mine. There is a chance I am here to forget, there is a chance I am here to forgive, and there is a chance I am here simply because a higher power decided it for me. In any case, I am here, and that is what matters to me at the moment." the sphinx said, sitting straighter as she spoke her name. "Although your race is not as... obscure as you thought. I knew some gryphons well myself. Never have I met one so troubled, however." she sighed and pulled out some knitting she was doing. The blue and green pattern showed a girl, a gryphon, and a waterfall.
"That's odd. This was supposed to be a red and black scarf, not an urn of future sight." Rarely did her yarn defy her will, never did such a violent change happen though.

"You knew some gryphons?" She had thought the gryphons had died out long before this sphix would have even been alive, regaurdless of how ancient the stranger believed she was. Seeing her new aquantance was focused on something in her hand, she leaned in to look at the scarf. Instantly she recognized the girl in the pattern. "It can't be!" she muttered under her breath. Nervous, she started backing away, eyes tearing up as memories flooded her mind. "No! She can't come back! She wouldn't!"
PostPosted: Wed Aug 11, 2010 9:45 pm

"Oh yes, heavens that was long ago. What is it? I don't know why you are freaking out. Who is the girl?" She started charming the scarf back to the way it was supposed to be, but a small pop and the knitting needles started to get red-hot. Blujay threw the partly-made scarf into the lake on instinct before pulling out another piece of knitting to work on instead.

Kaaren took several more steps backwards as she saw the lake begin to glow where the scarf fell. "No... It can't be..."
