"Well... Physically, it's the same as it's always been. The vampires and werewolves don't like each other in general, and the humans are caught in between. But...I think something big is going on. Smaller conflicts are starting to escalate, even a little is too much. And if I'm reading some of Cedric's comments right, a new war would automatically come out very badly because of something that humans held up as a threat to stop the last one."

Amanda was surprised at all this, "What could humans do? We're not exactly the physically dominant species a lot of us think we are, not compared to you guys..." she lifted her head to look at him.

"True, but while vampires and werewolves were so busy fighting, they hardly noticed for the longest time that humans were developing technology. From what I've heard Cedric say, I think their weapon is some kind of disease that only affects us..."
He trailed off, and his eyes opened wide for a second. "Oh..." he said quietly, realizing something.

There was a sharp intake of breath as Amanda sat upright, "Does that mean...does that mean humans could have done this to you?" she asked, her eyes glimmering wetly as an tear clung to her lashes. Could someone she knew have done this...? No, nobody else knew about them that she knew...yes. But, still...humans had done this? Reduced Erik to lying on a hospital bed in pain?

He shook his head. "Not intentionally. The person who attacked me was definitely a vampire. But...this disease they've developed, it's probably an offshoot of what I've got."

Amanda sighed, a bit of relief in her now. She knew from before that Erik wasn't going to die and if it wasn't humans at fault, well, nobody could blame her. But, if it was just an offshoot, would the real deal be more powerful? She shook her head internally, dismising the thought. She embraced Erik tightly as she dared and stood up. "Thank you," she murmured, lowering her head with a measure of shame. Her anger had gone completely now, especially with her worry. But, she felt a lot better. "Do you want anything? I've heard horror tales of hospital food."

"Sure, they're truly beautiful, a mixture of efficiancy and beauty if ever I saw..." Amanda felt around with her jacket for where she had set them down. She picked them up and handed them to Erik, still unsure of why she would need them, "Why would he give me daggers?"

He looked at the daggers. "Hm...the insignia here looks familiar... in the middle of the hand-guard, see?"
"Where'd these come from? They're ancient," said Dr. Reeve from behind the human's shoulder.
"Ack! How do you do that!?" asked Erik, still not used to it.
"Plenty of training.
These come from a long-deceased, all-human nation that attempted with some moderate success to exterminate both other races..." He pointed at the insignia while he said that, and then the shape of one blade with his next sentence: "This blade is crafted specifically to stab a vampire in the heart, taking advantage of certain peculiarities in their anatomy from the human." He pointed at the other blade and said, "This one is the same, for a werewolf though...
By the way, be careful not to show those anywhere else here. Someone might notice they're valuable and try to 'confiscate' them..."
He wandered back out of Erik's "room".

Amanda looked confused, "The doctor...?" she questioned in slight amazement, surprised that he would know so much about them but, then, if the blades had to do with the peculiarities of anatomy, that might be why...She didn't mention that the only reason given was "just in case".
