Hiro smiled to himself as he held Rikku. "I... Guess we could go to the springs... But no taking my swim trunks this time... And at least wear a bikini okay...?" Hiro said quietly, remembering the last time they went to the springs. He had been so embarassed he went invisible to sneak out of the whole mess. He actually wanted to go to the springs, but this time he didn't want any unneeded attention.

Nerus had been sitting in the shade of this tree for some time now, he hadn't really been keeping track. He hadn't been attending his classes, not really believing there to be much point in it. He sighed and looked out at his surroundings. There weren't many people around, and the few that were within sight didn't seem to take any notice of him. Nerus wasn't phased by other people ignoring him, in fact he was quite used to it. He often ignored himself as well. It seemed lost to him that it was hard for people to notice him when he wasn't visible. He spent a lot of time out of sight, not really wanting to be noticed. He sighed again and looked down at his feet.
"Typical," he muttered to himself, "no one notices that I'm here. Then again, maybe I'm not really here," he said with another sigh.
He looked up again, still unnoticed by the few people that seemed to pass by occasionally. Time passed slowly for him, but he didn't pay it any mind, not really caring, dozing periodically. He looked up from time to time, secretly hoping that someone would notice him, even though it seemed more evident that he wanted to be ignored.

Akane was sitting a short distance away. Her knees were drawn to her chest, her face hidden against them. Her large brown cat ears were drooping on either side of her head, thick brown hair draped around her shoulders. She was ignoring everything around her, including the black kitten that kept swatting at her shirt with his paws. He even pounced on her limp tail a few times, but this also provoked no response.
So, bored, the kitten wandered off. Only then did Akane lift her head, staring after him through dark red eyes. Great, he's leaving me too now... she thought to herself. Then, heaving a sigh, she pushed herself up and followed him. She was unwilling to lose the last bit of company she had.
Kuro, the black kitten, wandered over towards a person who was sitting at the base of a tree. His dulled, golden eyes focused upon him and then he crept forward, pawing lightly at the man's leg, just staring up at him. Akane arrived a second later, stopping short as she watched Kuro and the man. Then she frowned as she realized something. Great, another ghost. "What are you doing?" she asked, her voice cold, emotionless, along with her very expression.

Nerus had been about to doze off, but was startled when he felt something on his leg. He looked down to see a cat pawing at him. He sighed, and decided to ignore it, not really wanting any company right now. He was about to lay back again when he was startled by a voice that seemed to be adressing him. He was so startled that he phased back into the visible spectrum, roused by a moderate curiosity. He looked off to his side to see a girl with cat ears wearing dark clothing standing close to him. He looked form her to the cat and realized (or so he thought) that she must have been talking to the cat and it probably belonged to her. He sighed, figuring he should have known better than to expect anyone to notice him. However, he had revealed himself now, so he figured there would probably be some sort of explanation required.
"Is that your cat?" he asked quietly, that being the first question that popped into his head.

Akane watched the male impatiently, waiting for him to reply. Instead he first stared at her, then towards Kuro, before sighing. Her tail gave an irritated flick behind her, then fell back to its normal, strangely limp position, like she didn't even have the energy to keep it moving like a normal cat's would. Kuro's tail, however, was never still. She placed one hand on her hip, the other dangling by her side, as she fixed the man with her emotionless stare.
"Obviously," she murmured upon hearing his response. However, her voice was still toneless, monotonous. She walked forward, kneeling by his side and gathering Kuro back into her arms. She was silent, then stared into the man's eyes. "You didn't answer my question," she mumbled. "What are you doing?"

Nerus was about to stop paying attention to the girl and her cat, when her comment intrigued him. Apparently 'he' hadn't answered her question. This was slightly confusing for Nerus, seeing as how he had been invisble at the time the girl had first come up to him. Was she able to see him while he was shifted? Nerus had never encountered anyone so far who could notice him while he was invisible, and had believed he never would. Nerus was not a normally curious person, ut he was intrigued by this and decided to inquire about the how before he went back to ignoring everyone.
"Obviously," he said with no intended sarcasm, "I'm just sitting here alone. Or I was, until your cat came along. However, that's something I'm a little curious about. How did you even know I was here?" he asked.

Akane regarded him silently for a moment, wondering what he was thinking about. Since he must be thinking about something. What other reason did he have for delaying in his response so badly? When he finally replied, she became the one who started thinking to herself. What did he mean? How did she know? Well, she guessed that was a normal question. It'd just been so long since she'd met a new ghost that she wasn't used to being asked that anymore.
"I can see..." she murmured quietly. "I can see spirits and ghosts. I can raise the dead. I deal with the dead, so I can always see the dead, even if they attempt to hide. Kuro is dead, and was thus able to sense your presence. I'm not sure if he could actually see you himself." Then, abruptly, she fell silent again, dark red eyes staring into the male's. He was different than Sei, and she was glad. If they were the same, she wouldn't have been able to take this meeting. But, they seemed to be opposites.
A few seconds passed, before she suddenly spoke again. "Akane." Then, as an explanation, "My name."

Nerus listened as the girl explained her awareness of his presense. Nerus found it interesting, to know that there was someone who could communicate so well with the dead. When she mentioned that the cat was dead he looked down to her arms where it was currently being held. 'It doesn't look very dead he thought, seeing as how it was moving around and had been the first to notice him, possibly. Nerus was intrigued when the girl introduced herself by name. Not once in his memory did he know of anyone that had introduced themself to him, let alone by name. Nerus looked at her as she seemed to be looking into his own eyes and thinking about something. He then turned away and lay back against the tree again.
"Well, I don't remember asking for your name," he said, a toneless expression hiding whether or not he was being sarcastic, "but it does suggest something. Maybe I do exist after all, and it's not just my imagination." he muttered, not really believing his own words. He then looked back up at her. "I don't have a name, at least not one that I can remember," he said quietly, "I call myself Nerus though, but I'm not entirely sure why I bother."

Akane frowned at him when he spoke. "Well, I didn't ask if you'd like me to give it," she replied, her voice also emotionless, however there was a hint of irritation now in her eyes. "Yet I felt like stating it, nonetheless." She fell silent for a moment, listening to him speak. She didn't really understand what he was saying though.
"What do you mean? Of course you exist. You're sitting right there and I'm talking to you. I don't speak with things that do not exist." She shifted Kuro in her grasp, frowning now, her irritation finally showing.
Meanwhile, Kuro had noticed Nerus was staring at him previously, and the cat stared back through his dulled golden eyes, meowing quietly after a pause.

Nerus could sense that the girl seemed to be on edge from what she said, not the way she said it. He wasn't surprised, people always seemed to be on edge when he was around. He didn't really care though, because it didn't concern him, nothing did really. He sighed and looked back at the girl when she said that she didn't speak to things that don't exists.
"How do you know that?" he asked, "How do you know I'm not just a figment of your imagination? Many people talk to things that aren't there, and others even have imaginary friends. Then again, maybe this is all a dream that someone will soon wake up from. How do you know?"

Akane rolled her eyes, her irritation quickly growing. Or rather, now she was letting it show. She shook her head, ears flattening back a little. "No," she said flatly. "I don't have imaginary friends and I'm not asleep. I don't hallucinate either. You are there and I am speaking to you. Why do you have trouble believing this?"
Her angry eyes softened just slightly, peering into his own. She didn't understand why he was saying those things. "...do you really think you're not here? Enough to doubt me, even though I'm completely sure that you are?"

Nerus listened to what the girl speak, but didn't put a lot of effort into taking it in. He didn't really care much for what other people thought, nor what they said, usually he didn't care about his own words or thoughts that much either. The woman seemed to have a look of irritation about her, but Nerus paid no mind to it, leaning back against the tree. He looked up to the sky through the tree branches and sighed.
"Why not?" he replied rhetorically, "for all I know you could be a figment of my imagination, this whole world could be my imagination, or someone elses, I can't really say. As for me, I have no memories, no name, no history, nor anything else that would suggest I am even real at all. Well, there is something, but it's really nothing worthwhile."

Akane stared at him, the softened expression turning once more into irritation. "Stupid," she muttered. "Maybe I am a figment of your imagination. But at least I'm not sulking about it." She reached out suddenly, smacking him hard on the arm. "Your figment just hit you," she hissed, cat ears flattened back again.
"Just because you don't remember anything, doesn't mean you don't exist," she added a second later. Then she fell silent, thinking to herself. Her ears drooped slightly, then flattened back like before. "Maybe I don't exist either. I mean, who can exist with something like this?" She hesitated, then lifted up her shirt partway. On her side, standing out strangely against the nearly white skin, was a huge scar running jagged. It went into her stomach, then disappeared beneath her shirt higher on her side. It actually looked almost like something had simply bit a huge chunk out of her side, and then it'd been replaced.
She gazed at it for a moment, then towards Nerus in silence.

Nerus was about to stop paying attention to the girl's ramblings. He leaned back agaisnt the tree and closed his eyes, but was jolted from his lyings when the girls smacked his arm. He looked at her, puzzled, wondering why she had done that. She seemed to be in a bad mood, but Nerus didn't understand why she seemed so intent on venting it at him. It seemed that she was being irritated by the things he was saying, but it was beyound Nerus as to why. He was only saying things that he thought to be true, was that so wrong?
He stopped briefly when the girl began to pull up her shirt. She revealed a massive scar along her torso, like something had taken a huge bite out of her. Nerus was slightly intrigued, since so far as he knew a wound like that would be more than enough to kill someone, but then again he didn't know alot, as he tended to avoid people.
He looked up at her as she looked at him, and spoke silently; "Well, that's a pretty nasty scar," he said, "but at least you're still here, whereas I'm really not." He was referring to the fact that he was a ghost whilst she was a living being. "You seem rather intent on proving to me that I'm really here, so maybe you should see this." He then pulled the large pendant out of his coat pocket and tossed it to her. He figured once she found she couldn't open it, she'd leave him alone.

Akane let her shirt fall back in place, covering the huge scar along her stomach and back. She stared silently at Nerus, still obviously annoyed. Kuro, her black kitten, sat beside her in the grass, tail flicking idly behind him as his dull golden eyes shifted continuously between the two.
Wordlessly, Akane reached out and caught the pendant that Nerus had tossed, turning it over in her hand a couple times before seeing that it appeared able to be opened. However, when she tried it, it didn't work. She frowned, ears flattening back uncertainly. She was very tempted to claw at it, but that may damage it, so she decided against it.
Slowly, she held it back out to him. "...what is it?" she murmured, her tone dull and monotonous again. Her face lacked expression as well, as she'd begun to calm herself. She sighed, then reached down and tugged Kuro into her lap. "He's dead," she said suddenly. "But he exists."
