I'm rather tolerent when it coems to pairings -- alot I don't like, but I won't bash anyone for them.
Though back when KHII first came out, I was assulted every day with Axel x Roxas stuff, and THAT I had to vent about.
But yeah, I can see some of these pairings working out, but what makes me mad is when fangirls put them together just because they're hot. Oh yes, they just completely forget the angst that would run wild in Ed/Envy, the confusion of two brothers being in love in Elricest, the admonishment that would transpire in Roy/Ed, that sort of thing. Heck no, all they wanna see is one of them getting a p***s shoved up another's butthole.
Sorry to be blunt, but it's the truth, and it can't be denied, really.

Yes, it's true, that a lot of fans for a lot of pairings are complete dingbats and don't really think things through when writing fics and whatnot. However, on the off chance that someone writes a fic about the pairing that's in character and still beautiful, I really don't see what's wrong with it. There are some slash pairings that are written more beautifully than canon pairings. In the hands of the right author, anything can be made beautifully but I think a lot of times this fact is vastly overshadowed by the uneducated fanbrats who, as you stated, just want it for the sexiness factor. I am happily not one of those type of person, though. So...Yeah. ^^

It is true. I really prefer storyline above anything else.
When I attempt to write Elricest, I try to make it more like exploring the taboo of incest rather than make it all hawt and about the buttsecks.

What makes you think that it'd work? Theres already a lot of caring there, I mean, its not all that hard to see in the later episodes....and even in some of the artwork, its there. Theres one that I love in the booklet for the tenth DVD with Winry dragging Ed off and Roy and Riza in civvies.
