An excellent question. From watching, it is my honest believe that lesbian lovers are the most passionate lovers on this planet of ours. They are kind, caring, considerate, and understanding. To see such interaction allows me to feel a small facet of that, and it gives me hope that someday I shall find someone who can give me that feeling. There is a cerebral element to yuri that no other romance can match; the intricacies of the affairs and mindsets and the processes of their feelings toward each other are far more complex, and easier to relate to. Sometimes, there is a sense of loss. Sometimes, there is a sense of joy and wonderment. Sometimes, there is the pleasure of learning new things, and of sharing that experience. Surely anyone can relate to that. And yuri of course also teaches the basic life lessons, and features settings and characters easy to identify with. All in all, I like... nay, LOVE yuri because yuri is a microcosm of utopia.

As a matter of fact, this is what I posted in the 'Guys and Yuri' thread:
Love is beautiful in all forms. One must merely tolerate the Philistines who cannot understand that and hope that they learn. It's not about the sexuality; if it was, it would be hentai, and everyone needs a little bit of that sometimes (No excuses). It's about passion, compassion, and the sheer wonder that is love, and the feeling one acquires when lost in its infinite intricacies. It is the risk of breaking hearts, of getting hurt, of hurting. It is the devotion, and the faith in each other. It is an understanding beyond words, beyond gender. To those who are incapable of realizing that, I feel great sorrow and pity. To not know what love is is to not love. You are not wrong to love yuri... *begins to sniffle* You are far more right than a great many people...

I used to to look at hentai (shameful days...well to me.). I then realized that was looking at garbage (Don't get me wrong some hentai is alright, but most of it's not. >_>). I then began to look at shoujo-ai and yuri, and I'm so glad I did. ^_^
I like it because it goes beyond traditional pairings. (Ex: MxF pairings)
I find much cuter than MxF pairings, as mentioned before, the emotion is there. It's much deeper and the love is true, it's just so KEWT! whee

Jhay-R Well, I guess it just rocks me like a hurricane I guess. See, at first it was just because I was a pervert. Then, I went deeper into it. A girl that chooses to love a woman has to go beyond the normal terms of love. When a male and a female fall in love, there maybe a little disagreement from the people and parents, but that is only if they feel like they are surprised they're a couple, and for parents it's human nature. However, if a girl falls in love with another girl, a whirlwind of emotion and questions comes up. "Is she a lesbian, too?" Not only that, but if the person she loves is a long time friend, she might ask, "If she's not, then what will happen to our friendship?" If she loves her best friend, and she doesn't love her the same way she does, then it is going to be awkward just meeting each other again. So, the one who loves her may just keep it inside, rather having them as good friends than risking their friendship and let her true feelings out. And even the first question is answered with a yes, and she is also in love with you, this next question comes about. "What will the people think... Not only that, but my friends and family? Will they accept me and my girlfriend? Or will they hate and reject us?" To go against the commonly made Male/Female coupling and to choose someone of the same sex as your partner because you truly love her more than anything in the world, despite what the others may say, that takes a lot of courage and a hell of a lot more heart to do. That's why I guess I'm into Shoujo-Ai along with Shonen-Ai. Don't get me wrong, I like M/F along with F/F and M/M, but just saying... And I'm not saying that M/F has it easier than F/F and M/M, all three have their own share of problems, although each group has different problems all three groups may have in common, or are lone to that soul group. I got one last thing to say, "Love, it'll rock you like a hurricane!" marry me! blaugh

my answer might not make sense but here goes.
Im a crossdresser but Im heterosexual so Im only interested in women sexually. But as a crossdresser I also have a high attraction to femininity, like I have cute faerie statues around my computer, and I love magical girl anime and stuff like that. I think this has to do with my interest in yuri since yuri is completely feminine with no masculine elements in it. I would love to be one of the girls in the yuri pairing.

Well...I've always loved romance stories/movies/tv shows/etc, but always hate the guys in them. They're just always so annoying/rough/brutish in comparison to girls. Shoujo-ai and Yuri do away with that by not having the guy in it. So it's practically the ultimate romance story, and as stated above, I've always loved romance things.
Also, if I may quote a character from the shoujo-ai manga Kuchibiru Tameiki Sakurairo: "I really admire the idea of a love so strong, it overcomes the barrier of gender."

I came to this guild looking for a refuge to write in. I am a guy. I do lean toward girls, but I may be bi. I write my stories (RPs, novels, short stories) from the perspective of the female. I love, I live, but I have never been accepted for who I am, until I was accepted here.

a combinaion of many reasons. he fact that the te love between two females in a story seems so much more pure. The fact that i am completely straight and thusly a guy is always unappealing. It always seems that a same sex relationship is so much more pure than one not (atleast most of the time). I of course support both genders of same sex relationships, but only prefer the female side. Also, where i live atleast, 95% of the guys who would be in a relationship with a girl are perfectly despiseable. It seems that the popular genres of things, such as sports and rap and the like, all breed hate towards gays. The opposite holds true for anime/manga, which thrives here.
