A close friend of mine has been experiencing quite vivid, semi-recurrent dreams for the past couple of years. From what I understand, in the dreams she's a clown or mime of some sort travelling with a circus through eastern Europe, probably in the mid-late Romantic era from some of the clothing descriptions she's given me.

At first, the dreams were very short, lasting only for around ten or twenty minutes in her subjective point of view, but they can now last for hours, and there's a definite progression, almost like a story to them. She's even named towns and such, and I've looked them up. Every description the name of every one has been accurate, and there's even almost a clean route building now, if you were to map it.

As for the person she becomes, he has a small box, sort of like a music box but not designed to play music. There's a small sculpture attached at the top of it, and looking at it fills him with an immense sadness. Despite his profession though, he seems almost aristocrat in his day-to-day dress, and in the types of food he can afford.

That is incredible. Beyond incredible.

First to remember the names of the towns, but then to actually have the recurring dream.

A past life regression?

What is your theory about what it is?

I'm not too sure. A regression seems a definite possibility. It could very well be merely a very powerful communication though. What's strange is that these dreams seem to be fairly spaced apart, in excess of three or four months each time.

So, either something is happening to her on some level every few months that makes her susceptible to a regression, or
A spirit/consciousness is so utterly determined to communicate with her that it actually seems to be allowing itself to build strength for months at a time.

Either is an enigma in and of itself.

That is true.

If it were a spirit though, I'd have to say that she would be much more likely to experience it in the third person as opposed to actually being the person active within the dream.

Unless she undergoes a mild state of possession every few months and goes through the dream cycle. Which might explain why it takes a few months, it takes a great deal of energy for a spirit to remain within a body for a great deal of time (a few hours)

I'd put my money on the regression. Has your friend talked to you about any emotional issues that might cause her to regress? Perhaps a guide is showing her a past life in which she experienced a similar situation in which a lesson could be learned. A spirit could also show her where it originated from and then come to be within her life.

It's very bizarre. The details are lovely.

Emotional issues? Take your pick. She's got a lot on her mind at a near-daily basis.

It's indeed bizarre. I didn't really know what to make of it, so I just advised her not to hope for it too much, as dreams are mostly out of our control. Basically, 'go with the flow, but don't try to resist nor to force' was the gist of it.

The best and safest advice you can give. Cheers to that.

Hah. I know when I do my past life regressions, I usually get drawn to a life where I have a lesson or a person to witness that reveals some relevence to my current life.

I haven't regressed as of late. I'm in the mood to do so now.

Well, I wish you the very best of luck. And though I'm mostly a skeptic, with some paranormal leanings, I've always liked this old saying I heard somewhere:
"The mind is the throne of souls. Lay the body back, open the mind, at let what lies beyond suffuse you."

Think it was on a gravestone or something. Whatever it was, it's pretty.

And speaking of dreams, it's getting quite late here. I'm off to bed for the night. Nice meeting you.

Nothing wrong with being a skeptic at all.

That is a VERY pretty quote.

It was very nice to meet you. I hope to get the chance to speak with you again in the near future.

I don't know if this counts as a dream or experience..but whenever it happened it always happened right before I would fall truly asleep. I used..and even now though rarely..get this..paralyzing sensation. I could tell when it was about to happen because I would be right on that edge of wakefulness and sleep and then it felt like I was falling backwards quickly from my body and my bed. It was a kind of scary sensation because I would be able to hear myself telling my body to move...just kick a leg and I'd be ok..move..do something to break it..but I could feel my body trying to move but not actually moving and I could see my body struggling but not moving. I would hear myself..but I never spoke out loud it was more like thinking so loud it sounded like I was speaking. Up until today it had been awhile since I experienced it but I just went through it recently (I likes my naps!) and I was wondering if anybody has experienced anything similar or if anyone has any advice.

It's pretty common, but to be that alert...that's pretty good. At that point between awake and asleep is "hypnotism" BUT it sounds like you were even a few steps beyond that.

It's possible to experience some pretty hardcore paranormal experiences while in this state, and because of the lack of mobility it's some of the scariest moments as well.

>.> Every time it's happened..except for this time and I'm thinking I have Shadow to thank..the lack of mobility scared me yes...but I've always heard a voice that I can only describe as very deep and very powerful...not 100% evil..but not 100% good..sort of like it was a being old enough to know what the rules are but old and powerful enough that the rules wouldn't have any effect on it if he really wanted to test them. Usually the voice laughed but sometimes it would say my name and then start laughing or just mutter to itself. I dunno what it was but this time it didn't happen but I sensed it nearby and I'm thinking I have Shadow or one of my teachers to thank for it not talking to me..

Ha. xD I'd be so creeped out.

My guides have stepped up their game and have been trying to spook me. They're trying to test me to see how jumpy or brave I am.

Yeah..i've been creeped out. I know it's not Shadow or my teachers...just a very old very powerful being. All three of them have tried the creepiness/jumpyness...The celestial and the infernal like dragging me around as I sleep..Shadow just like zooming across the room at random moments. I think though they got the best of me when all three of them teamed up on me. I used to tease and taunt them out loud telling them they could do better (up until this point my mom and sister had gotten the best of me one summer...I was reading and completely absorbed into my book and they right in front of me talked about scaring me...never heard them but when they shouted BOO i jumped and almost threw my book out the window) Teasing and taunting them is fine when you're clothed and aware...not so fine when you've just woken up and gotten into the shower...yeah..Celestials..they're choir boys and girls but even they have a wild streak >,<

Oh, that's happened to me before. Only a few times though..
That weird sensation of being awake, but paralyzed. It would happen right after I thought I was about to wake up, but I'd know when it would happen. I don't know about any paranormal relations with this, but what usually snaps me out of it is hearing another person's voice or the lights turning on.

I could see, too. I would get "tunnel-vision" and see the entire room around me. I thought I was half-asleep in a dream state because the second time it happened to me, I said to myself "Oh, man.. Now watch something scary happen. Like a teddy bear sitting in the middle of the room, staring at me, or the closet door suddenly opening..." Yeah, I do that to myself alot. But never the less, it did happen in that weird 'dream-state.' It all disappeared when my sister came in the room to wake me up.

For you, it might be a totally different story though. I've never heard a voice while like this. That's something really interesting.

I don't exactly know what this would go under, because I'm not entirely sure of what it is.

So earlier in the day, (as seen in the "Psi" thread), I was practicing telekinesis on a psiwheel. It was unsuccessful, but what was a little strange was that I was focusing really hard on it. (Not the "clench your teeth" kind, lol) I felt like I was getting nowhere, so I thought maybe that my mind wasn't as clear as it could be.

For awhile, I stared at the pastel green psiwheel, and then like normal, my mind slipped past it and I stared into space like a vegetable.

But I slowly felt less conscious of myself. It kind of felt like I was falling asleep. Lol. Maybe that is the case, but I want a second opinion.

My eyes were fully open, and I was very relaxed on the couch, staring at the psiwheel in front of me. (In fact, I'm certain my eyes were open because my contacts began to blur, and I'd have to blink a few times.) I kind of felt like I was just falling. It wasn't a gradual thing. I would see complete darkness suddenly and then I felt like I was going to hit the floor...but I was on the couch... I would sense that sudden 'mental drop' and I'd snap out of it before

a)I fell asleep or
b)it got anywhere

But I wasn't tired.. D:
I don't know. This thread is about dreams, and I kind of just put 'dreams' and 'sleep' in the same category.

So..Do you think that I was just about to fall asleep? Like when little kids start nodding off during story time?

I have experienced that when I was in my bed before (falling, but not)! I was like, wowza, however, if I ever slept with my dad, I never woke up 3 to 4 times a night when I was an infant. I think my spirit guides may trust my dad or see that he is more in charge...I don't know. Have you ever just sat on your bed and felt it sort of shake? I have always had that and right now it is, but then again, one of my spirit guides are really near me I think.

I've done it enough times. It's that stage between awake and sleep. That is a scary place to be, because you're more opinion to suggestion and paranormal experiences.

As for the shaking bed part..
One time I was just laying in bed, prepared for sleep and it suddenly jolted forward. My night-light (I'm scared of the dark.. redface ) went out and my ipod died, too. But that just might be coincidence.. That's as close as it gets to shaking.

Lol. Note to self: "Never become a hypnotist. It just might not work out."
So if I were to have a paranormal experience while in this state, do you think I'd remember it when it's over?
PostPosted: Tue Mar 17, 2009 1:46 pm

One important note, I think I should stress. The crossover state RESEMBLES hypnotism to a degree, but technically speaking, it's distinct.
razz

@Ipocrita: Any paranormal experience in the crossover state is usually VERY memorable. It's not like with dreams, where you forget maybe 85% of them. The mind is still alert enough for the memory to be as functional and resilient as in the waking state. And considering how vivid, and often otherworldly the experiences can be, you really wouldn't forget them anyway.

I've had an odd recurring dream that I've had since I was a small child, though I've no idea what it means.

It starts out with me in a school somewhere across the street from a police station, I get let out of school and we all decide to go to some houseboat for a small vacation. When we get there, all the barges and boats have been burnt down as well as several of the surrounding buildings (though many burnt boats are still floating and many building are still standing). We decide to look around for a any sign of anyone to ask what may have happened. Me and my little brother look inside one of the buildings and see a heap of bodies piled up and some guy in a cap facing the corner staying perfectly still.

We decide to run for it really fast, and get our parents out of here, but we can't find them. As we look around we see the guy in the corner is no longer there and is facing the wall outside the building in front of us. (I've no idea why it kept facing the wall, and never chased or anything, all I know is that the sheer presence of the guy scared the Hell out of me).

We ended up going on our own back to the police station and telling them what we saw, and they'll go investigate it. So they send out a few officers to check out the situation. And tell us in the meantime to go and wait in this tiled room. We come out a few hours later and the entire station is completely empty, and all the lights are off and won't turn on except for the small lamp over the front desk.

I then explore the hall behind the desk and remember seeing something really dark red..Like..really dark maroon, I then have the sensation that a falling dream gives you, then I wake up.

Sounds weird I know, but I've been having this dream for years and years, since Elementary school. It's never timed or anything as far as I can tell, and it doesn't matter where I am or what bed I sleep in or anything like that, but I keep having this dream over and over.

Any idea if this may be anything paranormal or am I just having nightmares?

ANy idea what that might mean or if it has any supernatural

Sounds weird I know, but I've been having this dream for years and years, since Elementary school. It's never timed or anything as far as I can tell, and it doesn't matter where I am or what bed I sleep in or anything like that, but I keep having this dream over and over.

Any idea if this may be anything paranormal or am I just having nightmares?

ANy idea what that might mean or if it has any supernatural

Maybe research any mass kills or something in your area? Maybe your spirit guide is trying to get something through you. *shrugs* XD
