Lambert hollared in response to Renault's quip. He led the way past the mages and started firing down the stairs where some raiders had gathered. Dunaway ordered the mages around his boss and began the fight back outdoors.

Fighting through the first level was hard. There was strong resistance by the doorway. Lambert drew his submachine gun and threw himself up against a nearby wall forward of the entrance. He poked his gun out and held it down for a short burst. A handful of raiders went down in pain. Dunaway shot back around the wall and took a breath. He heard distinct steps refilling the void he cleared moments after.

He popped out again to once again clear the way but they were waiting for him. A spray of laser fire went across the wall and hit Lambert several times across the upper chest. He cried out in pain. Dunaway collapsed behind the wall and steam rose from his armor. He managed to get an order out to the mages, "Get the Sage out of here."

Soon after his order, he slowly laid his head down. He would have normally pressed hand hand to the wound but there were so many here, he didn't bother. His armor had taken alot of the force. If he wasn't wearing it, he would have died upon impact of the round. His eyes began to close as he heard the sounds of spells flying over him. After a minute or so, he elt himself getting picked up. He tried to open his eyes but only blurs came out. He saw the mages transporting him outside. After a second, the image faded again. He breathing was slowly and it was getting shallower.

He felt himself get placed down and then flet warmeth all over his body. A slight smile went across his face. His breathing did not get better, however. His eyes flickered again and a few blurred hazy images of mages around him reached his brain. His breathing shortened and shortened and then soon after was absent.

A sudden warmth filled his lungs. A few moments of it were soothing but afterwards the good feeling went away. Instead, he couldn't feel it anymore. The warmth was taken in by his internal organs and was heling him.

Externally, he looked long gone. The blood in his face had left his lips and were beginning to pale. Internally, however, his organs were busy repairing themselves. About 3 minutes later, he jerked up and took a large gasping breath. He fell back down with his eyes still closed. There was only a little work left to be done but a small amount of movement could be seen in his upper chest. An up and down motion that was a postive sign for all.

A bolt of warmth somehow, either through light coming through his closed eyelids or heat on his skin, triggered his senses again and he knew more work was being done. He breathed better, he felt better. Actually, he wished this could be done every week. he began to feel better the he did when he started working for Renault which was too long ago to remember.

His eyes came open and life surged through his skin and veins once more. Although, his consiousness was not with them from the moment he was shot to now. For all he knew, he was captured by the enemy. He felt his plasma blade holstered on his belt. He was laying on it. With one fluent motion he kicked one of the mages off of him. He flew up into the air and landed headfirst in a seat next to Renault. At the same time, he reached back and activated the blade. He grabbed one of the mages by the scruff of his neck and held the blade a millimeter or two away. He then began looking around. He saw it was friendly mages and that it was Renault driving.

The gritted teeth and enraged eyes and overall demeanor quickly vanished. He let the mage go and deactivated the blade. He sat back in a more comfortable position. He muttered to Renault and mages so that they could just barely make out what he said, "I...I-I'm s-sorry." He looked down and took a deep breath in and out. He then looked around and said more audiably this time, "I apologize. I'm not sure what got over me."

Lambert slowly manuveared around. He may hae been alive again but he was no where near 100%. He had abdominal pain and his chest felt constricted. He moved slowly. He didn't have a limp but beacuse of his chest, shoulder, abdomen, etc. He couldn't move too fast. It wasn't necessarily a problem because Renault couldn't move much faster then him anyhow.

His voice was weak and filled with exhaustion. WHen Reanualt finished speaking, he spoke in this voice, "Sage, as hapy an as excited I am for this information, I know I cannot appreciate it until morning. I need rest...a lot of rest, especially if we are going back on the move tomorrow."

Lambert listened and replied, "Thank you, sir. Please, if I'm needed, don't hesitate to get me." The two "friends" parted ways, enault into his lab and Dunaway down the street. He started taking over his armor he wore. He dropped it off to be repaired. After giving it to one of the people in the village, he returned to Renault's lab and walked in. He placed his belongings and weapons in a corner his in the entranceway as to not clutter up needed space. He said aloud, "Just dropping some stuff off."

He left without another word. The only thing he carried with him was a change of clothes. He wasled to the bath house and went inside. There was no one else there but he didn't mind. He went into one of the small rooms and made sure to lock the door. He changed into his other clothes and drifted off to sleep.
