More like Operation Plot to ruin Dullindal since that was who Meer worked for. Either way, they both died at the end too.

But seriously, I thought they would have kicked Meyrin into the trash can too, but I guess at that point the 'relationship', if you could call it that, between Athrun and Meyrin wasn't significant enough - to the writers at least, anyways.

Lol, if they had killed Meyrin, then Athrun would have to get back together with Cagalli. But still, Meyrin was a nice person, so that's probably why she wasn't killed off...fans never really hated her.

Put up a 'should Meyrin die' poll on the internet and see what happens.
Anyway, they could have killed off Meyrin. There just wouldn't have been any benefits from it in my opinion. If Meyrin did die, what would happen? Luna goes nuts? She already done it even without Meyrin dying. I mean, the girl's character affects no one. NO ONE.
And I doubt her demise would cause Athrun to go back to Cagalli. He'll probably sulk for a minute, pay his respects, and then move on his way. The creators knew what they were doing when they crafted Athrun's character in Destiny. They might as well stick a 'Loner' sign on his forehead or something.

aww poor Athrun, a loner?! no way, other girls will flock him immediately if they found out he's not with anyone...
If Meyrin died? Personally, it wouldn't matter to me; though I might morn her a bit. After that, I'd just start wishing Athrun would get back together with Cagalli again.

I agree. If Meyrin were to die, everyone would be sad, then normal again. They would feel bad about her death, but she wouldn't spawn a suicidal chain of, well, suicides. blaugh

If Meyrin dies, it would be sad and all. But at one point, everyone will get over it. It doesn't make much of a difference if she died, Luna would probably mourn over her as well, but she'll get back up again. Anyway, I don' think she'll be dying anytime soon. :'D

Who knows what the creators will do with the Athrun/Meyrin relationship if they make an elaborate third season.
And I'll have to agree. They must have really disliked Cagalli to have her replaced by Meyrin. I mean come on. If they had to replace her with somebody....the only person I think fit to do it would be Lacus. Even Stellar for that matter.
