Captain of Squad 4

XXXXXAyume waited, staring down at the captain command who was knelt in front of his children, protectively... no... possessively wrapped around them. She was completely ignoring the black haired man who'd led her here now, even though her body was trembling with exertion to keep herself upright. When he spoke, and forced a scary smile that was clearly wrong on his face, she breathed. He was in control it would seem. For now.

XXXXXThough her worry spiked agian when Misaru suddenly shot from his arms, the relaxing of the captain commander's arms having given him a way to escape. The boy was stubborn - and Ayume sighed, her blue eyes going to him. She was familiar with the boy, more so than the girl. Though she'd never told anyone, not even Ollie. She was actually a bit close to Yuzuki, who came to visit her often. Yuzuki seemed strong minded, so she wondered if the boys mulish behaviour despite his obvious exhaustion was a trait he'd doubly inherited from both parents. He must be a handful to deal with every day. Still...he was distraught and that much was obvious.

XXXXX Ayume had decided it was wisest to not respond to the Captain Commander. One wrong word to him could cause his fragile control to break she was certain. This entire family was going through a whole ordeal. Through her meetings with Yuzuki, Ayume had come to the conclusion that she was the heart of the family - something that kept them pinned together. The boy had clung to his mother as if she were a precious goddess, and he was only safe within her arms. The Captain Commander would often be seen talking to his wife in places, the gentle touches and caresses that people caught would say it all for he was usually a straight forward business man. His face would light up whenever Yuzuki's name was mentioned, as if his favorite topics of conversation were her and his children.

XXXXXAyume had to tread carefully. She had absolutely no experience to relate to the pain they were going through, but it was obvious they were shattered, broken and lost. Something that the pinkette was positive she wouldn't be able to actually help with. When Misaru bumped into her, it took all of Ayume's strength not to collapse. Even the small boy could knock her over if he truly tried, she was that weak from bloodloss and exhaustion. When he turned to her, calling by the nick name he'd affectionately picked up for her during Yuzuki's "kind of almost secret" tea sessions with Ayume.

XXXXX“Mei-nee… Kasa… Kasa gone… Mei-nee… want Kasa… Give Kasa…” Ayume sighed, and she carefully lowered herself, so she was on her knees, and exactly eye level with the boy, she reached up and cupped his cheek gently, pulling him into a gentle and warm embrace as he clawed at her, desperate for some sort of solace. "Misaru-chan."

XXXXXFew people would ever hear Ayume utter an honorific. She was not accustomed to it, nor did she do things she deemed pointless. However Yuzuki called Misaru by loving honorifics all the time, and what the point needed was something familiar right now. His father who'd obviously been more rough than he intended to be was not familiar right now with his spiking and fluctuating energy. His mother not being here was something the boy had never ever experienced, she could tell. So Ayume would do her best to compensate. "Listen to me. Listen to Mei-neesan. Stop now, you won't be able to hear me if you are wailing like a little wolverine." She told the boy sternly, putting herself in a mind set where she could ignore the two intimidating men around her. Where the hell was Ollie? she would wait for the boy to quiet, while she gently rocked the boy back and forth in a comforting motion. "It is scary for now. But, has your Daddy ever let you down before this? Think. Hasn't your Daddy always come through when you most needed him? Kasa too. Kasa will be fine. She will come home. Your Daddy and Mei-neesan will make sure of it okay? Kasa will do whatever it takes. Remember what Kasa told Mei-neesan last week when I asked what having a family was like? She picked you up, and kissed you, and said: 'It is like being invincible. Your joy knows no end, and it provides an immortal strength in times when you most need it.' Now... time to rest for now. Kasa will not be happy if she comes home and you have cried yourself into being sick." She said all this to him in a soft voice, and then she smiled at him soothingly when she ended her words, stroking his cheek affectionately. She wouldn't give him a chance to refute or cry again. She wanted the last thoughts in his mind to be those words, so when she was done, she immediately began to sing to the little boy in her arms, using her squad ability to not only sooth his mind as it was capable of doing, but her sea green reaiatsu also swirled around him, to get rid of the wouds on his surface... and she would not stop until the burns she could see on his little body were gone, and she went in deep on his wrist to banish the memory of his father being rough out of panic and desperation. Her voice echoed throughout the area, a strange language that her Zanpakuto had taught her. It was actually a chanting lullaby

Set watched the pinkette soothe his child, standing up from his crouched position. Once he was up, a complete influx of thoughts and images assaulted his mind. His hand moved to rest over his eye as soon as it happened, the pain incredibly sharp and steadily increasing.

You don't deserve this, so why not fight back already against what's wrong? I can help you. I can help make everything...back to the way it was.

The words were so clear in his mind now. Not a whisper or soft caress like before. The voice was so much more like his own than he realized, but it had so much more weight to it. The voice was low and harsh, as if it had come from someone who hardly used their voice anymore. It contained pain that circulated through Set's body as he heard it. As he stood, he felt his daughter lean against him, wrapping her tiny arms around him, face against him as well. She was all but asleep. His left hand rested atop of Akane's head, lips set in a small, more real smile. His other hand fell from his amber hue to reveal a bit more life in his eyes. Despite what was taken from him, he still had things to remain strong for. Otherwise...

His body seemed to heat up a bit as he reflected on the images that ran through his mind a moment ago. Thoughts and selfish needs to release a power that was forbidden for Visoreds. A pent up desire to relish in what his true humanity was about a century ago. I don't want things back to normal. It's not something I care about...living life in one large circle like that and ending where I start. No. I just want my family. He felt it foolish. Answering back to a passing thought in his mind. However when it answered, it made sure to make it's presence known as not such a thing. It was more than a whim and beyond a fading memory.

If you want them, you need to learn to take what's yours. You need to see what matters. You need to let go

With that reply, the heat in Set's body grew to levels that would have scorched normal human flesh. He felt something begin to form on his chest, and as it spread across the skin that was hidden under his clothes, he began to cough violently. It broke the small silence that he'd been in and caught the attention of his brother, who worriedly spoke his name. The back of his hand covered his mouth as he continued, the burning on his chest getting even worse. Only when that burn stopped did his cough die out. He breathed desperately after it was done, eyes pained as he stepped back from the medic. "Well...that was sudden, haha." He laughed rather weakly, straightening after, then looking at his daughter. "I'm...pretty sure Akane is fine. And she's about to sleep. I don't think I'll have another chance to put her to bed if she doesn't sleep now, so I'll be taking her. Please, look after Misaru. When you're done, just leave him to my brother. He'll know where to take my son." His eyes closed for a moment, pointedly ignoring the now soothed feeling on his chest. He'd look into whatever the hell happened to him at another time. Yumaki smiled when his eyes opened, legitimately grateful as he looked at the woman who helped. "Thank you, Shibantai Taichou." He spoke to her, taking Akane in his arms after to carry her.

Misaru Kuraishi

He let out a whimper, but his heart-wrenching sobs did fall silent as Mei-nee had asked. He didn’t want to be a little wailing wolverine in the moment. Not while his Kasa was missing. Not while Mei-nee was there to make it all right. His body still shuddered from the harsh tears, small noises escaping his tiny frame unwillingly, his hands clawing desperately for her, but he was quieter, listening to the soft words of reassurance and affection from the woman who held him.

No… Kasa wouldn’t like him to be sick, but he couldn’t imagine having immortal strength right now. Or being invincible. Not when he saw his Kasa taken away from him like that. Daddy might help, but Daddy let it happen. Kasa was gone. Kasa was missing, and it was Daddy’s fault for not helping her before. It was, wasn’t it?

He had opened his mouth to protest, to cry and tell Mei-nee how wrong she was, that he needed Kasa now and not later, but he couldn’t find the words. Not after Mei-nee started singing to him. The words were nonsensical to the child, but the effect was the intended. Though still shaken, he could feel his mind soothe, allowing him to accept that they would do their best to get Kasa back. Even the pain from his wrist, so harsh and biting but a few minutes before, seemed to be fading as his eyes drew heavier, seeking the comfort that Ayume was offering as he gave into the dreary exhaustion of the day. His fingers remained tightly wound around her clothing, clutching her to him to the point that she would not be able to put him down and remain decent.

Within minutes, somewhere with the midst of his father’s coughing fit, he lost his fight, dropping into an uneasy unconsciousness that mirrored his twins.

XXXXXAyume watched Misaru's face as she sang, and felt a small triumphant victory, and some where in the midst of it she had fixed her sitting position, bringing the boy down in her lap as she sat on the grass. And when Set began to cough, she did her best to ignore it, though her blue eyes had gone up to the Captain Commander, her eyes frowning. What was happening with him?

XXXXXThe final note of the song emitted softly from her, the sleeping boy in her arms, still clinging to her clothing, as Yumaki told her to leave Misaru with... his brother? Ayume blinked in surprise, and as exhausted as she was, she managed to turn her eyes to Noctis.

XXXXXHis brother? She thought to herself, and she raised her eyebrows. Well. The only family resemblance she could actually see was their ...well almost all their attributes. Except for the eyes. And his brothers terrible manners and personality. Where Yumaki was usually charming on a good day, Noctis had been nothing but difficult to tolerate the entire time they'd known each other.

XXXXXShe realized she was staring at Noctis blankly as she thought about what a jerk he was and looked away rolling her eyes, her warms still wrapped protectively around Misaru as her head swam.

XXXXX "He's fine for now..." She mumbled to "Captain Commander's Brother" tiredly as Yumaki went away.

XXXXXShe looked up at the handsome (but stupid) man, unable to resist the slight pitch in her voice, the almost slur of her words as she spoke. "I will need to come by...with a few other captains. The Captain's stability will ...need to be monitored. And..I'll be here for Misaru. And Akane. My squad ability...will help keep them...from panick..ing. Oi...Faerie Boy, please take Misaru. I'm going to black out now, and I don't want to fall on him. When...when Olly here... she'll...take me home." She told the him bluntly, her blue eyes closing as she slumped over, her small arms still around Misaru gently, one hand on his cheek, the other hugging him.

Noct felt shivers run up his spine. The cough, Set's attitude. Even if he wasn't expressing it, his reiatsu was sharp, showing a territorial dominance that he himself was trying to suppress. The others probably couldn't sense it, but he easily did. He was more familiar with Set's reiatsu than anyone after all.

One thing that was also a common trait of Set was trying to deny the situation, and playing things off like nothing happened. But he knew. "Yumaki, get into the house and rest. I'll handle things here." He spoke to his younger brother, who left and nodded as words left underneath his breath. Words that Noct guessed were either 'Thank you", "yare, yare", or "How can I even rest?" Each one would apply to the situation after all. When he turned to speak to Ayume next, he saw that she was just staring at him. His hazel eyes blinked, a little bit uncomfortable with the whole thing. Right when he was about to say something on it with his usual witty demeanor, she turned away, but not before he could see her blue eyes start a rolling action. Should I....Even bother to know what's wrong with her? He wondered as he just blankly looked at her now, unsure of what to do with the quite attractive (but pretty annoying...and weird) pinkette.

That's when she began to speak, her voice sounding similar to someone who was about to either pass out, or just woke up. Obviously the former. As she continued with her small, tired statements that he wouldn't argue about till she was fully awake, he heard her say to basically just leave her there. Irritation rolled through him again? Seriously? You come to someone's home basically uninvited, start stating what will be happening, then sleep on their doorstep? She'd have to be a lot cuter to even think about going through all of this without debate. "No you don't. Come on. I'll grab Misaru, you put your arm around me." He spoke as he leaned down to the girl, already in the actions. He took Misaru from her hands, moving his arm around the smaller boy before lifting him up. He hadn't been injured or done anything to hinder his performance, so lifting the child came with ease. "At least stay up till I can walk you to the couch. Can't have you passing out on my doorstep."

He'd wait then for the woman to wrap her arm around him, something that he was tired of just as much as she was. While most wouldn't complain about holding an attractive woman, he had been forced by fate to be stuck with the annoying one for the day.

It had been almost two months since had seen his mother and for a little boy so severely attached to her, it was a time of utmost torture. Even though he though they had received word that things were okay, that Kasa was going to be okay, the child had spent the past weeks sobbing himself into a fitful slumber that did not allow him to rest. In the past two months, he had thinned as a direct result of his lessened caloric intake, withdrawing even further into the shell shell that consumed him. He almost never smiled, in spite of other's attempts to rile him up. He spoke even less, becoming an almost impossibly silent four year old.

What could be done? His mother was missing, and that's all that mattered to him.

The only semi source of comfort that he had been able to find in this time was his mother's friend Meinee-san, who was coming over almost every day without fail. She would come over, spend a little time with the adults in the house, whoever they were at the time, before coming and checking on the kids. More specifically, him, at least it seemed. She would sit on the floor with him and work with him on whatever he had out at the moment, coloring, reading, or just holding something soft Kasa had given him. Even his favorite, building blocks! She had pulled him into her lap sometimes, when things were bad, singing to him softly, reading, or just holding him until he was tuckered, finding the minimal sleep that he got there in the consolation of her arms. She was the only person who didn't seem to try to push him too far, like some of the other adults did.

He was miserable. He wanted his mother back. He wouldn't be happy until he had her back again. If even then. Why didn't anyone else seem to understand that?

As much of him was glad to see Ayume for the little while she was there, a friendly face that was focused on consoling the family, but he found her presence annoying as well. She had promised him, after all. She had promised him that she was going to find his mother. It had been almost two months.... He hated her almost as much as he hated his Father sometimes. Why wasn't she (and he) out there looking for Kasa as they promised...

The day things changed begun much the same way. He woke well before anyone else (probably shortly after they had retired themselves) and sat in his bed in silence, staring out the window until the slivered moon had begun to sink towards the horizon. He crawled of bed then and wandered to the kitched to half-heartedly choke down a single bite of whatever it was his father had left out for sustenance and moved on to go play. Numb as he was, he had felt a slight disturbance in the world around him the exact moment that the Soul King returned to their realm, but had thought little of it. He merely sat on the floor in the center of his home, his exhausted eyes watching his hands shift through the heaps of blocks before him, continuing on the intricate city that he and Ayume had begun the day before. There was no recognition in him over the feelings that had breezed over him. Detached....

His special friends, the three zanpakuto spirits who had been with him since he was little more than a few days old, had slipped into muted, weary creatures had shifted, recognizing the feelings with more assurance than the child. The tiny cat, who had been longing for his playful playmate, had even opened his mouth to draw Misaru's attention to it before being silenced by his companions. Why get the child's hopes up if they were wrong?

Akane Kuraishi___________________
___Daughter of Yumaki & Yuzuki Kuraishi

Action: Wandering
Status: Zombie?
Feeling: Distant
Company: Misaru
██████████████████████████████

In the two months that came Akane changed a lot. Much like her brother she wasn't eating much and her already small frame had shrunken even more. Her body was always tired and on the edge of the breaking point. Unlike her brother who had been in a steady growing connection with his spirits since he was very young she had only just begun to awaken her zanpakuto spirit a week before this all begun. All the energy she unleashed on that day had put a tremendous strain on her body, so much strain that when she finally passed out that day she didn't wake up again for almost thirty hours. It didn't stop there though, her body remained under strain. All that energy woke her inner hollow, it woke her zanpakuto spirit. In the course of less than a hour her powers awakened to a level that her brother's powers had been slowly and steadily growing towards for years and the stress that sudden power placed on her only added to her ragged almost sickly appearance.

Akane's personality had changed after losing her mother as well. She became so quiet and withdrawn. The adventurous girl that would run around the house and sneak out to explore the Seireitei was seemingly dead and gone. The little girl slept less than her brother but she got no rest from what little she did get. The nightmares her zanpakuto spirit used in order to communicate with her were much worse now, and the inner hollow only added to it when she tried to interrupt. She was always exhausted and usually refused to sleep, sleeping only when she would faint from the lack of sleep. Akane's once cute and adorable face was now thin and marked by dark bags under her eyes from the restless sleep that had become the only sleep she got now.

Misaru cried more than she did. Akane rarely cried. She usually seem to have been disconnected from her emotions. Only seeming to show them with silent tears that fell at random times or when her father left her. Akane refused to be parted from her dad. She would cry loudly and scream anytime he was out of her sight and she didn't know exactly where to find him. It was rare now to not find her clinging to his leg like she was terrified that he would fade away and vanish if she let go. Besides him, Misaru, and her uncle she just shied away from anyone else.

She was miserable, just like Misaru. She wanted her mother to come back. She wanted her family back the way it was. But even if she got that, could she go back to the way she was?

The day things would begin to change Misaru was up first. Akane was still awake at that point though. She was in their parents room, curled up on the side of the bed that belonged to their mother. Her dim gold eyes staring blankly at the wall. She could hear her father sleeping behind her and she listened to it intently; drawing some small amount of comfort from his presence. Her eyeslids were so heavy, so very heavy. While Misaru watched the moon set in his room she finally fell asleep for the first time in days. With sleep came the nightmares and she flailed about on the bed. No rest came for the girl in the sleep she got before she ended up sitting up and panting heavily. She immediately curled into a tight shuddering ball and cried silently for about five minutes.

Finally she dried her face and looked over at her father before crawling across the bed. She let her short legs hang over the edge before she pushed herself off the bed and onto the floor. It was cold on her bare feet but she didn't care. Like a shadow in the dark she slipped out of the bedroom and drifted downstairs to the kitchen. She stopped before she got there as she encountered her brother in the living room. She watched him from the shadows as he played with his blocks. The kitchen slipping her mind as she watched, she wasn't hungry anyways. In the distance she felt something but paid it no more mind than her brother did, but she did reach out to him.

He hadn't heard his sister's approach, her pause in the door, as he was busy shifting through the blocks around him as he sat amongst them, his legs twisted beneath him. He had, however, heard her soft voice as she called to him from the doorway, but barely reacted as he dug through the pieces, closing his hands around the one he wanted and pressing it into place. It wasn't that he didn't care about his little sister, he loved her dearly actually, but that he was so far detached from everything and everyone around him that he didn't much care about the world. It would wait. Unless it was about Kasa, it would wait. For a few seconds, it could.

His haunted, haggard eyes lifted to find his twin standing in the doorway, keeping the distance between them as much a physical gulf as it was a was an emotional one. She was still his best friend, but he had pulled from her too, as she was always with Daddy, and he was becoming increasingly angry... hateful almost with the man. He didn't know what to do anymore. Not with her.

"'Kane..." he said, his voice scarcely louder than a whisper. Whether she heard him or not remained to be seen, but there it was. One of the few words he spoke now, in increasingly rare moments.

Would things ever be the same again?

He stared at her with blank, haunted, empty eyes for only a few moments longer before he dropped his eyes from her, turning back to his blocks, intent on finding his next piece. His sister could come join him, if she wanted, but he wouldn't offer. The words simply would not come anymore. The clacking of shifting pieces filled the air as he moved, working, hunting. but after a few moments, his irritation sparked and he let out a slight cry before throwing the growing tower across the way. It shattered upon impact as Misaru's hands curled around his head, and he curled into himself just a little. The tears started flowing without provocation.

He missed his Mother. The pain was real. He missed her....

Tokiru raced towards the house. The closer he moved the more he restrained his spiritual pressure to make sure that it would go unnoticed by those that need not know he was coming. He had heard from a number of people in the grape vine about what had happened to the Captain Commander's family after his wife had vanished. There was no doubt in his mind any more. Yuzuki was the key to it all. A nice piece that fit into all the holes of the puzzle. Missing wife.. missing captain.. abducted soul 'king'... Yuzuki Kuraishi.

With one last shuddering crash he launched himself over the wall around the house and straight towards a window on the upper level of the building. Faint puffs of color air rising around his feet as he transitioned to air walk and reached out. At this hour even the Captain Commander may not know he was here. The window panes rattled as he tapped his knuckles against the frame that held them. "Commander Kuraishi! Pardon the late night intrusion but I have urgent news for you!" Tokiru declare loud enough that he could be heard inside the room where he could sense Set was at.

Action: Wandering
Status: Zombie?
Feeling: Sad and Distant
Company: Misaru
██████████████████████████████

The two siblings were so close. A gap of only a handful of feet separated the two children as their golden eyes met. Within the other both could see a reflection of themselves, a dark shadow of what they had once been. The two looked at each other for a moment when Misaru eventually responded to her voice, and she did hear his voice. Ten feet or so suddenly seemed like miles as that whisper reached her and her face fell away. The girl's long dark hair creating a curtain that hid her face from sight as she dropped her eyes to the floor. Akane reached across her body with her right arm, her small hand gripping her left arm at elbow level and pulled it firmly to her side in an awkward hug of sorts.

It was there in the voice that had called to her. Misaru barely spoke to her any more and this feeling had been growing in that nickname. Now when she hear him call her 'Kane all she heard was an apology. The kind of apology one gives to someone they can't see any more or don't know how to handle so they instead avoid the issue and person alike. It was like one of the final nails in the coffin. How many more nails were left to go? She lost her mother, she was losing her other half. Would she lose her father as well, or even herself? Perhaps the ship had already sailed on that last one.

Akane heard the soft clacking of the blocking being moved around once more. Those hollow eyes that had been staring through her and pinned her in place were gone now. Timidly Akane stepped back and turned to walk on. She disappeared from the dark doorway without casting another glance across the chasm that now separated the twins in her mind and began to shuffle through the shadows in the hall once more. She walked past the kitchen entrance without noticing and instead stopped when she saw the wood floors drop down to a stone tiling. Her small head lifting as her eyes stared up at the door that lead out of the house. The loud crash of blocks drew her attention back down the hall and she went back to the living room. Entering it without any hesitation as she went to her brother. Akane knelt down beside him and lifted a hand to put it comfortingly on his back but that void between them stopped her. Instead it fell back into her lap and she looked down at the floor with sad, helpless eyes. As was fairly common now a little of her uncontrolled power leaked out creating a pulse of spiritual pressure that was the only thing to let Misaru know his sister was there.

Instead of Set coming to the window, it was his brother instead. The curtains moved, and there stood Noct, already dressed as if he was out to be somewhere, the squad four badge wrapped around the upper arm area of his dark grey jacket. He heard his words before he ever got to the window, and a mentally smirked at that. He opened the window, watching the young captain with a small blink of his eyes. He could never really get over how much the kid looked like him back when he was younger. (Remarking on how your picture is the same character as mine xD) Taking these thoughts from his head though, He gestured for the captain to come in, stepping back from the window. "Yamura-taichou. I'm sorry, but you've just missed Yumaki. He did let me know someone was on his way though. He told me to ask you for a favor." The captains aide spoke, waiting for Tokiru to step inside before he continued, moving after to continue getting ready. He grabbed his zanpakuto from the wall, slipped it into the scabbard on his waist, turning back to the boy after.

"Yumaki already sensed Yuzuki and the pressures of the others with her. He's on his way to the Hospital, and I'm following him up. Next to being an aide to my brother, I'm a member of Squad Four. Helping the returned captain heal is my job. The only problem is that I can't leave the kids alone. I also can't take them with me, because I don't want unneeded problems to arise." He explained, recalling the way that Misaru and Akane had huge tantrums which resulted in many pressure spikes when their mother was stolen. There was no use taking risks at the moment. "Yumaki wanted me to ask you if you can keep an eye on Misaru and Akane while we're out. This isn't an order from the head captain, just...a favor, that we can repay should you need us to."

Misaru Kuraishi

His breathes were coming in short, harsh gasps as he struggled to keep himself quiet in spite of the pain that coarsed through his heart. The tears were streaming down his face, the sobs strangling what little air he had access to, but he did not want to give any reason for his Father to some in an give a half-done effort to console him. His anger with the man had increased over the last weeks, after all, as he had checked himself out, practically hiding away in another room after they were told that Kasa would be back. He had given up, Daddy had, and Misaru could never forgive him for it. He did not want the man to come out and hold him. No. He wanted Kasa. Nothing more. Just Kasa. Just Kasa....

He stiffened a little when he felt his younger sister, his twin and once the only person he felt close to (there was a gulf growing between them because of all this and he had no idea how to fix it), had settled just behind him, offering him the silent comfort of knowledge that someone knew what he was going through. And though he was sure that she didn't feel the same way that he did about Daddy, he was sure she felt much the same as he did. There abouts.

Without meaning to, the sobs he had struggled to back ripped out and he shifted, sending a spray of blocks away when he kicked them, and practically dove for her. His arms wrapped around her waist, his head buried in her lap as his body was overcome with the emotions he had desperately tried to keep quelled. Though he was almost sure she could hear him when she was in her room on those rare occasions, he was the big brother. He was supposed to be the strong one when his little sister was crying. He was supposed to go beat the bad guys up, the ones who hurt her. But right now... he couldn't do it. There wasn't anything they could do, not when they didn't know who the bad guys were, or where the heart went.

But her couldn't do it. Not this time. He needed his sister, at least for a few minutes, to be the strong one. To just let him shatter and sob until he could function again. He needed to break....

"W-wahn... wahn Kasa... Wahn Kasa..." he whimpered and cried, the words breaking through in between the sickening gasps that came with the floodgates. "They not look.. they not... want Kasa... want Kasa... why they... not look?! why...." It was more words than he had spoken over the last few months, broken and disjointed, repetitive as they were. "We need go... go find... they not... we go... Kasa... Kasa... we go... we go...."

Misaru Kuraishi

How long he stayed there, wrapped around his little sister's waist, he couldn't be sure, but he did know that when he had completely wrung himself out, he felt even more exhausted than he had in a while. He had fallen silent, save for the quiet hiccup of his body settling back into a non tearful mourn, his arms still wrapped about her for a time. He had missed his twin too, in all of this. A gulf was spreading between them, and, sadly, he had no idea how to stop it or to even repair the damage that had been done already. That was Kasa's job, he felt. And Kasa was gone.

The thought threatened to set off another round of fresh cries, but a tiny voice, timid and quiet, a voice that hadn't spoken in nearly two months called down to him. 'Misaru... please you need to listen...' He sniffled and looked up at his trio if friends, looking down at him as though they wished they could console the child's fears. It was Kumiko, the female spirit wrapped in a flowery kimono, that had called out to him, asking for his attention when he had calmed. 'We felt something, something strong, come back into the world... You felt it too right?' No answer from the child, but his eyes remained on her as he continued to cling to his little sister. The silence did not sway the tiny spirit from pressing forward, offering her kind words of advice and wisdom. 'You need to go. To check it out, Misaru. We're not sure what it is... but...' she paused, unsure if she should continue or not in that moment. If it was just a fluke...

She couldn't bring herself to finish right away, and another spirit, Tarou his little samurai, continued in her wake. The child needed to know this, after all. 'It might have something to do with your mother child. Especially since both your father and uncle have left.'

Misaru's eyes widened at this and he pulled back from Akane at last, surprise etching his features. Kasa? Was it that big hole that took her away? WAs it open again? Did something else come through? He couldn't say for sure, but he knew he had to go and check it out. Daddy and UncaNoky and MeiNee weren't here. What was to stop him from investigating on his own? They weren't trying to get Kasa back, so it was his turn. Maybe that's what they needed all along.

He turned to his little sister and gave her a tired half smile. While he would have wanted her to come along, as soon as she realized they were alone, or in the care of someone they didn't know, she would freak out. She wouldn't want to come with him anyways. Leave it to the adults, he was sure she would tell him. Leave it to the adults. He needed to get away from her before he could go investigate. He rubbed at his face, trying to dry his tears, and spoke quietly to his sister. "I go... wash face..." he said haltingly, hoping she wouldn't offer to come help or tell him he looked fine with his puffy eyes, running nose, and tear streaked face. To keep her distracted, he pushed some of the blocks he had yet to kick away from him into her lap. "You stay, play..." And he could slip out that way.

He stood on shaking legs, much to the delight of his little trio of spirits, and left the room quickly.

He did not stop at the family's restroom, however, moving past it and down to his bedroom door. There, with the help of Ikuto, his cat-like friend who loved to say 'nyah', he grabbed a small bag that his mother had once given him that he could wear across his back and stuffed in it a change of clothes, his toothbrush, and a bottle of water that he had stashed in his room. On top of that, he put in a pad of paper and a box of crayons, for when things got too boring on the road, and, at the last minute, picked up a stuffed bear that his mother had given him. The bear had brought him little comfort over the last few months, since she had been gone, but it still smelled a little like Kasa, and may serve him well when he left.

Once packed, with the bag on his shoulders, he looked around with an obvious pain in his eyes. Home hadn't been comforting for a long time, not since Kasa had been taken, not since Daddy refused to go look for, but it was a place he was familiar with. Leaving, facing the prospect of trying to go after Kasa himself, even if he was desperate to see her, was terrifying at best. Numb as he was from everything else he had gone through, he could feel the touches of fear now that his mind was made up.

No. He had to go. And now. He looked over to Ikuto with a plain look of desperation in his eyes. It was time to go. They needed to go, but he couldn't leave by the front door. He needed help, and Ikuto was one of the best.

He was out the window and beyond their backyard in just a matter of minutes.

Akane Kuraishi___________________
___Daughter of Yumaki & Yuzuki Kuraishi

Action: Wandering
Status: Zombie?
Feeling: Sad, comforted and a little happier, finally terrified and depressed
Company: Misaru/Alone
██████████████████████████████

Akane sat on her small legs for a time. Eyes down cast at her knees as she sat with Misaru and listened to his crying. She stayed put there wanting to comfort him. After a time her twin wheeled about and lunged at her. She wanted to scream but nothing came out. Why did she want to scream? Did she thing he was going to lash out at her? Or maybe it was just the surprise of his sudden movements. The little girl lifted her arms to try and catch him but the boy just dived under them into her lap. Akane's arms lowering a little as she blinked and stared down at her brother. She could feel his arms around her waist and his warm tears soaking into the lap of her dress.

The heavy weight on her heart seemed to lessen as she watched him. Gently placing her right hand onto his back and rubbing it comfortingly like their mother did to her when she cried in her lap. Her other hand returning to the floor beside her. Akane actually smiled a little. She was feeling a bit happier now. The distance between her and her brother were a distant memory at the moment. She actually thought that maybe things would start to get better. Even so she was still sad deep down. She wanted to cry as well, but she was the one comforting him. Instead she just sat there in silence, quietly brooding, as she stroked Misaru's back and did everything she could think of to calm him down.

Misaru gradually recovered and returned to his somber grieving self. Akane lowered her head a little to look at him with her grief paled golden eyes as he finally rose from her small lap. She felt a pang of sadness when he let her go and sat back up. More than that, it was a pang a fear that things would go back to the way they were just a few minutes before. Her nerves calmed though as Misaru gave her a tired smile and offered her some of his blocks to play with while he cleaned himself up. She smiled back at him and nodded her head. Her head turning so her eyes could follow him as he left. Once he was gone she busied herself with the blocks. Akane played with the blocks without noticing the man that came by and looked in to check on her before moving off in the empty house to find a place to sit and wait for the Kuraishi's to return. Five minutes passed and then ten minutes passed.

Akane looked up from the blocks and checked the clock in the room. Misaru didn't come back and it had been a very long time. Akane pushed her small, frail looking body up off the floor and left to go look for him. She went to the bathroom and found it empty. Then began to move through thee house. She never noticed the man in the kitchen (she barely even looked in since she expected it to be empty). With every room she looked in the more frantic her search became. She quickly found herself running room to room. She check all the bedrooms twice. At some point tears had begun to fall. The strength in her legs seemed to vanish and she collapsed to the floor as her mind swirled. Dad was gone. Misaru was gone. She was alone... Alone... Alone... They left her. Her nightmare coming to her mind and completely overpowering all other thoughts. That loneliness.

Tears poured from her eyes now as she threw her head back and tried to scream. Her throat hurt and no sound came. Her own fear taking the ability to make sound from her. With nothing else to do she ran from it. She couldn't stand for more than a few steps before her legs buckled again so she mostly crawled as fast as she could to her closet. Once inside she locked herself in and curled up in a tight ball. Her arms the only thing that seemed to have any strength and all they could do is hold her knees in close and hug herself as her body shook like a leaf in a gale. The nightmare still heavy in her mind. Alone. They left me alone. With a whimper and a soft murmured,
"Misaru you lied," Akane blacked out.

██████████████████████████████
I keep moving forward, opening new doors,
and doing new things, because I'm curious.
My curiosity is lying in wait for every secret,
and it keeps leading me down new paths.

Noct had been rushing home since he felt that the "sitter" he "hired" wasn't around. Akane was alone, and that couldn't be had. Once he was there, he quickly opened the door, following the pressure of the little girl.

Her pressure was weaker than usual. She was sleeping. His eyes closed as the man bent over to try and catch his breath. Ugh. It was his fault. He had to get to work. He shouldn't have relied on such a random source to watch the children, captain or not. Once he was back to normal, be stood straight up, walking towards Akanes room. He was careful not to wake her as he walked, not making much noise as he passed through, carefully sweeping any nearby toys away with his foot. When he got to the closet though, he blinked. Locked.

His eyes softened, a sigh leaving. She must have really been scared. Ugh...baka. I'm really sorry, sweetie.. He thought to himself, before carefully pulling just hard enough to break the lock. He didn't know where Set kept the closet key. It was usually unlocked.

When he found the mini mirror image of Yuzu sleeping, he leaned down, picking her up carefully while whispering calming words. "I'm sorry, Ane...uncle is here now. Come on. Taking you to mommy and daddy..."
