Mai walked along the streets of Shu Jing. She watched all the merchants beg almost everyone who passsed to buy something. A child ran up to her and pointed at a nearby food store. Mai knew it was a trap just to get people to buy food. But Mai shrugged. Why not? She bought an apple and gave it ti the little boy. He smiled and then ran off. Mai was probably just tricked, but whatever. She made monay, spent it, and then the cycle started over again. It was probably not very smart, buy Mai didn't care.

Mai heard a screach that could have only came from a bird. She looked up to the sky and spotted a messenger hawk. To her surprise, it landed on her. Mai took out the message.
Mai!
It's me Nao Mura. I am currently living in the fire nation capitol, along with the fire lord and his wife. We are traveling to Ember Island and we would like to invite you. We will pick you up soon. I hope you join us Mai!

Mai was astonished. Nao was alive! That was the best news she'd heard in three years! She started runnign towards the harbor. Her family was alive! While she was running, tears of joy started streaming down her cheeks. When she got to the harbor she sat down on the nearest rock and looked out at the sky and water. Who knows what transportation they would be taking. She stood up when she saw the ferriy. "Ember Island please" She said.
