Cobalt smirked at Severus as Mia picked her back up, "Did that mean cat frighten you? I'm sorry." Mia frowned at the black cat, but quickly lightened in expressions as she turned to Sarah. "Well, Cobalt here is the cutest, she's certainly not going for handsome. But it's awesome we both got sorted into Hufflepuff! Slytherins are just plain evil or snobby, and Gryffindors... well, they always acting out in unnecessary "courageous" acts that normally cause more problems than there were to start with or they just end up killed." She glanced over to Cee-Cee, "but Ravenclaws, they certainly have some dignity, you also should be proud. My mom's mom, she was in Ravenclaw... I think."

When Cee-Cee pointed out the scratches on Sarah's hand, Mia gasped. "Oh my, you should get those checked out, if they get infected it wouldn't turnout pretty. Cobalt has given me a fair amount of scratches, but only when she's playing. That's just horrid!" Cobalt understood Mia's words and purred loudly, making another face at Severus.

After everyone had had their fill the Headmaster grabbed everyone's attention. "Now the prefects will lead you to your common rooms and inform you of the new passwords. Tomorrow classes will begin as well as Quidditch try-outs for 2nd years and up." "It is forbidden to go into the Forbidden Forest, as always and remember to check out the list of banned items," he paused momentarily showing a rare smile. "Welcome to and back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, I am looking forward to a good year." With that he dismissed the prefects to start lining everyone up.

Michael was excited to see the Gryffindor Common room and his dorm, so when the Headmaster dismissed them, he jumped right up. First the Slytherins left, following their prefects, next was Ravenclaw, then Hufflepuff and finally Gryffindor. He looked around for Sarah, then realized he probably wouldn't see her again until tomorrow, so he was certainly looking forward to breakfast. The Aeon twins followed him, seemingly never stopping their giggling. It was driving him insane. He looked back to see Amelia walking with Peter.

"So Peter, who are your parents?" Amelia had fallen behind Michael, chatting it up with Peter.

"I don't have any!" Perhaps Amelia had read him wrong, but he seemed at delighted at his words.

"But everyone does - what you do your mean? Did they die?" She said the last word in a whisper.

"Oh I don't know," the grin on his face had not disappeared.

Amelia was completely puzzled, "so, umm, where do you live?"

"I - woa!" His words were disrupted as the staircase started moving.

A Gryffindor prefect called down to the group of 1st years on the changing staircase, "don't worry, it's normal. Just follow Irma," An older Gryffindor who was also on the staircase in the front rose her hand, she would get them to their common room.

"Anyways," Peter continued, "I live in all different sorts of places. It depends on the day."

"Uh... okay. Well, where did you get your letter? and how did you know about Gryffindors anyways?"

"These two wizards delivered the letter. They helped me get my stuff and told me all about Hogwarts. They were both Gryffindors, but they told me about the other houses too. Still, this is the best."

Amelia nodded, "alright. Well, I'll talk to you tomorrow." She ran to catch up with Michael. "Peter, he's so odd, but extremely nice."

Michael shrugged backed, and they were all halted, finally at the seventh floor.

The Gryffindor prefect who had assured them on the moving staircase said, "McGonagall," to the portrait of the Fat Lady.

"Oh - welcome!" She greeted in a loud voice, then permitted entrance.

"Huh?" Sarah looked down at her hand. "Oh! You mean those? Ah, it's nothing! I can handle a few scratches every now and again. Severus...he and I share a bond. He only wants me to learn from my mistakes. The only thing is, I have a lot of mistakes to learn from..." Her voice trailed off, looking from cat to cat. She liked Cee-Cee already, but at the moment, Mia was starting to get on her nerves...or at least that cat of hers.

"You shouldn't say things like that about other people, you know." She said lowered her voice. "It's not very nice. I know two Gryffindors myself, and my sister is a Slytherin. Maybe my brother will be, too, and if he is, I'll be just as proud." Her expression remained calm, and her voice, unwavering, but the air around her seemed to churn unpleasantly, like a storm was brewing. "..and if you ever call my cat "horrid" again..." Just as she was about to finish her sentence, Sarah noticed that they were being lined up. Quickly, she grabbed a few dinner rolls and shoved them into her robes before the food disappeared. The large black cat followed along beside her.

"You shouldn't try to make enemies, Sarah...." Severus thought to his apprentice. "Not everyone understands the bond between Master and Apprentice so well, especially if looking at it from out of species." Sarah said nothing, but continues walking along in her line. She could no longer see Amelia or Michael. It finally struck her that they were really separated. Amelia might have found it odd that a Squib made it into Hogwarts, but she wouldn't insult other without good reason, or pick fights with her cat and expect her to be alright with it.

When they had finally gotten to their dorm and learned of the Hufflepuff password (which at the moment, was "Friendship"), Sarah ran to the dorms and looked around. Recognizing her trunk, she fell back on her bed and stared up at the ceiling. A warm, furry thing lay down beside her.

"This is all too much..." She whispered. "Sev, I'm not cutout for this....what if-"

"That's enough of that kind of talk." He though back to her softly, purring quietly as he did. Sarah looked back at him, her face devoid of emotion. "The hardest part is over. You already have a new home, and new friends. Not to mention, you are the first Squib to be sent here in years. I'd say that counts for something. Now, you're going to have to prove that you belong here, which should be no trouble, as you already know what you did to get accepted."

"Alchemy." Sarah breathed.

The cat nodded. "Use it. And what you learned from your Kwikspell course as well. They can teach you much more here than any Kwikspell teacher, I can tell you that."

"What if it doesn't matter? I have such a low amount..."

The cat stared at her.
"Magic, Sarah, is a mysterious thing. It can be born with or without."

"Like wizard and muggles." She interrupted.

"Exactly. But some muggles have a high level of magic as well, or unusually high for a muggle, at least. My point is, these are the ones that go unnoticed, but magical power develops over time. It grows like you would yourself through the years. Whatever magic you have, it will grow too. And the day you can call yourself a witch, you will no longer need me as a teacher."

A brief silence passed between the two, Sarah's expression now dismal and pale. "But...I like you, Severus. You aren't going to leave, are you?"

Another awkward pause made the cat sigh in a cattish way.
"Not unless you want me to."

The girl smiled, then got up to change into her nightclothes. She tucked the rolls away in one of her drawers for the morning and washed up. Soon after, she jumped back into the bed and diving into the clean sheets, the cat under the covers as well. Even Sarah was willing to admit that he was spoiled. Curtains drawn, the girl closed her eyes and drifted off.

Mia had meant it all innocently enough and looked as if she was about to cry when Sarah confronted her. "I didn't mean... not the cat, just the cat scratching your hand. And, well all the Slytherins I've met and the Gryffindors that fought with them... I didn't..." She finally did start crying and backed up to the Hufflepuff table. Cobalt seemed to note her distress and rubbed against Mia's chest, purring, trying to comfort her. The kitten certainly did not like Severus.

As they were lined up she fell back and after drying her tears chatted it up with Rosaline and Miles on their way down to the Hufflepuff common room. Once there, Rosaline and her met Solanio and Tia and they hung out in the common room for a while. It wasn't until a few hours later, when Mia was getting into bed she noticed Sarah was already asleep. She went to bed trying to think happy thoughts, with Cobalt curled up next to her head.

Michael got his chance to converse with Peter once they were up in the boy's dorm. Michael, plus Kailas, Aden, and Nicholas found him quite interesting (Nicholas exclaimed Peter was quite childish, but with a friendly grin) and all five boys fell asleep late into the night after convincing Peter to stay put - it wasn't best to get in trouble your first day at Hogwarts.

Amelia didn't have to endure the twins giggles too long as they were the first to fall asleep. She quickly made friends with Evelyn and Rochelle to a degree, but her thoughts didn't leave Sarah or Michael, and she was longing for tomorrow.

Evelyn had a cat, which even further reminded Amelia of Sarah, and then her own sister, Anya. She wondered how Anya would fair with their parents - probably better than her or Timothy ever could.

Sarah's dreams were filled with sugar mice turning into pens that wrote alchemic circles. Some were innocent enough and produced Chocolate Frog cards, but some of them created hissing, snickering kittens. Severus, sitting up with his tail curling around him was dressed in Slytherin robes which fit amazingly well for a cat. Amelia and Michael turned and shrugged from a distance and both walked off, and no matter how fast Sarah tried to run, she could not catch up, and soon, they faded away.

Severus' dreams were similar, but filled with swarms of sugar mice. This dream turned into a memory of a young Sarah drawing circles in the snow to make her own brand of Ice Mice for him. They ran around the yard, and gradually disappeared back into the snow. The girl looked cheerful, as she always had. This memory was especially pleasant because there was no Raven in sight to kick him, or even worse, pick on his apprentice.

Mia couldn't remember any of her dreams, but woke with a start, and it was still dark outside. Cobalt was missing, probably causing trouble in the common room, although Mia doubted anyone was awake. She seemed far from getting back to sleep, so she gave in and got out of bed. She changed quickly and made her through the tunnel into the common room.

Sure enough there Cobalt, curled up on an armchair. The kitten had no resources to cause mischief. Breakfast probably hadn't even started yet - well it definitely hadn't. She waited about an hour, leafing through Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1. Someone emerged from the boy's tunnel, it was Miles. Immediately she said "Hufflepuff", and he responded "Slytherin". They brought back their petty argument, until Miles knew breakfast was starting. He gave in, at least said so, remembering what Sarah had told him earlier.

Still, on their way to breakfast Miles reminded Mia that tolerance was a Hufflepuff trait, so she finally shut up.

A cloud exploded, it looked quite odd. Then Sarah fell out from it. Michael ran to catch her, but another dark cloud appeared and swallowed her up. Amelia appeared crying at a gravestone, with a woman holding a tiny baby standing next to her. Michael, still distraught over Sarah getting lost in the dark cloud, tried to comfort Amelia, but then she pulled out her wand. Isaiah, from the boat, was behind Michael, and there was a green flash, but Michael couldn't say which direction it came from. He blacked out for a moment, then both of them had disappeared.

Michael woke in a cold sweat, vividly remembering his dream. The sun was already shining, it must've been late. He got out of bed, and woke the other boys, except for Peter who must've already left. "Come on, we over slept."

He was still shaking and Aden asked if he was sick. Michael just insisted they head to breakfast, he wanted to make sure Sarah and Amelia were alright.

Amelia woke to the twins' giggles. Apparently they were early risers, they had gone to bed early. After just laying in bed for a while, waiting for Rochelle and Evelyn to wake up, she got dressed and headed for the common room. It wasn't too full, breakfast had started a little while ago, and people were making their way to Great Hall.

Amelia followed the crowd, complaining to Rochelle and Evelyn about Kiora and Kylie. When they got there, she noticed Michael wasn't there, or any other Gryffindor 1st year boy. She was going to look for Sarah, but someone from the Ravenclaw table yelled owl post, and sure enough, hundreds of owls flew in. They dropped letters, packages, and quite a few remembralls. Amelia immediately spotted Lin, who, after dropping Amelia a letter, came to rest on the table, cooing. She was obviously delighted at Hogwarts. Amelia grinned at her, and she took off to enjoy more of her freedom.

She opened the letter, it was from her brother.

Amelia,

So how was your first day? Which house did you get sorted into? Did you see the thestrals - amazing, huh?

Well, Anya is staying with us until we get a reply from this, then she wants you to know she'll be sending her own letters.

Hope you're having loads of fun - I'm guessing you're just about to get your schedule.

Well, good luck - we better hear back soon.

Timothy, Mary, & Anya

Sure enough, she looked up to see the prefects handing out schedules. Irma, the one who had helped them on the moving staircases, handed Amelia hers, as well as Rochelle's and Evelyn's. Amelia noticed her first class was double Herbology - with Hufflepuff. It was a relief more than anything, after the Deputy Headmistress' speech about houses had made it seem impossible for houses to intertwine. She also noticed she had flying lessons at the end of the week, which she wasn't looking forward to.

((Why thank you. ^-^ Just got off work & the internet's fixed...so far.))

Sarah always got up early. It had been tat way ever since she had lived with her aunt on the farm. Her duties would be to fix anything that broke, help a few stunted crops grow (she was especially busy in the wintertime when the snow had frozen over them), and feed the chickens, owls, pigs, and cats. Sarah had always been fond of the cats that lived in the barn. They had always been kind to her, and thankfully, left the job of scolding her to Severus. The black cat was still asleep, now curled up in a lump under the sheets.

Sarah slid out from under them, taking out the rolls she's taken last night from the drawer and placing one beside the cat when she woke up. She took a large bite out of the other one and held it in her mouth while she got dressed as she'd learned from the barn cats and their young. Her little brother had always admired her for this, for one reason or another, and vowed to get a cat teacher of his own someday. He still hadn't shown any real signs of magic, but more than Sarah ever had. It was very likely that he would become a wizard, or at least that is what his sister hoped for. It would be hard for him to learn alchemy now at an older age if she had to teach him. She did hope, however, that Merrick shared a bond with cats as she did, as she remarked, some other wizards did as well.

Mia and Miles had just left the common room by the time she got out. Sarah leaned against the wall, looking quizzically at the back of the door, roll still in her mouth. She never meant to insult Mia. She most certainly did not wish to make anyone cry. Severus was right when he told her that the bond between Squib and cat was special and hard to understand for outsiders. She made up her mind to tell her once she found a chance to talk with her alone. Looking back to make sure the cat was still sleeping, she walked down the steps and out into the hallway. Maybe she would see Amelia and Michael at breakfast.

The owls had already swooped down to the tables by the time Sarah had gotten there. On the nearest part of the table, a chubby barn owl lay down a cream-colored envelope which Sarah recognized as her Aunt's stationary. She walked up to the bench and took a seat, opening her letter. There were two signatures at the bottom signed Tara, Merrick, and Ben. She piled up her plate with everything she could, excluding the sausage, bacon, and other meat being served, eating as much as she could while she read.

Sarah,

Hope you're doing well. Sorry we couldn't be there to see you off. Your father is very disappointed that he could not make it. How is Severus? Kindly tell him to take care of things for us. He'll know what it means. All the cats around here seem to have lost their luster without you. Your brother has as well. He's been so quiet, just like he used to be. Sarah, he seems to be hanging around with the cats more and more...I'm really worried. Could you write to him for me? Maybe he'll listen to you. He looks up to you, you know. And tell me you're coming home for the Christmas holidays. We could use your gift more than ever come wintertime.

Anyway, we're all very proud of our little girl. I can't believe you've gone off to Hogwarts. Where were you sorted? Are they nice to you over there?

Listen to Severus. Be good. Be safe. Make friends.

All our love,
Tara Cameron
Ben Cameron
& Merrick Cameron

Sarah smiled. It was her Aunt that had written the letter, she was certain. She made a mental note to write back to all of them. A quick nod to the owl signified that he could go home, though Sarah passed a bit of her corn to him first. It was unlike her to let someone she knew go hungry. The owl soared off, and another latecomer swooped in with a copy of the Daily Prophet on her lap. She kept the band around it for now, and scanned the crowd for Amelia at the Gryfindor table. She nearly jumped up when she could now see her, reading the letter she had received. Standing slowly, she walked tot he other side of the Hufflepuff table so they were back to back.

"How is it?" She asked, tapping her on the shoulder. "Gryfindor, that is. Are they an alright bunch?"

Amelia turned around as she heard Sarah voice. She jumped up and gave her a hug. "Oh Gryffindor - it's amazing! Meet Evelyn and Rochelle." They were both seated across from Amy. "And Peter - he is quite the interesting boy!"

She folded up her letter, and held up her schedule. "We have Herbology together after breakfast!" Did you get your schedule yet?"

Michael came into the Great Hall followed by the other boys. He didn't see Peter anywhere, but spotted Amelia and Sarah right away."Hey!" He shouted. On his way to sit next to Amelia a schedule was put in his hand by Irma.

"You guys - I had the strangest dream. You're both okay- right?" He sat down and opened his schedule, sending a smile to both girls.

"Umm - yes. I'm fine." She looked at Michael with her eyebrows raised. When he opened his schedule, she sent a smile back, nodding. "But look," she pointed to the next day while her smile disappeared. They had double potions with Slytherin.

Mia was enjoying her breakfast when the owls swooped in. She was amazed at how much mail came in - everyone had only been there for a day. She spotted Sarah coming in, as Miles did, but the girl started talking with Gryffindors. She got her schedule and saw she had Herbology, Transfiguration, History of Magic, and Charms for the day..

"Well, that's what I have you for, right?" Sarah answered, smiling. She'd get her schedule later. Severus would no doubt make her do it, anyway. "Michael!" She shouted with a start and flung herself around him an a quick hug, as she had done with Amelia no more than a day ago. Her stomach growled and she pulled back, grinning awkwardly.

"Back home I usually get three helpings more than this. Merrick, he's my little brother" She added. "Has asked me several times why I don't ever get fat. To be honest, I have no idea..." Her voice was now muffled by another helping of potatoes and a sort of cabbage/vegetable hash Sarah had concocted with a little circle drawn in a vanishing ink under her plate. She'd done the same with her scarf, it seemed, as they now held bold striped of black and gold.

A transparent figure hovered above each table. The Fat Friar, ghost of Hufflepuff, appeared to be shouting an argument over to the Bloody Barron of Slytherin. The only audible words Sarah could pick up were "Not fat" and "Just a name".

"We're both fine, Michael." She added somewhat distractedly, only now realizing that he had asked a question. Sarah frowned quietly, glancing at the Gryfindor/Slytherin class with dislike. The kids from yesterday had surfaced at the top of her memory again. She didn't want to alarm the others, but she'd already planned out the scenario in her head. She would end up getting into a fight with them, it was certain. Of course that would happen whenever it did, and was not the case as of yet.

"So, Herbology together?" She said cheerily. "Sounds fun. I only hope we won't be dealing with Mandrakes yet. I'm terrible with them. We have a few back on the farm, and I have yet to outsmart them." She laughed, shrugging it off.

"Mandrakes? I'm sure we don't deal with those until next year." Amelia finished her plate and looked around, wondering where Peter was.

"Michael - where ever is Peter? Our first class starts at 9 o'clock, and I'd expect he would want some breakfast."

As if to answer her question Peter appeared at the entrance to the Great Hall. He sat down on the other side of Amelia. "I had to speak with Professor Glays - that's why I'm late." He knew they would be asking. He quickly helped himself to food and noticed Sarah, "who are you?"

"Sarah Cameron" She answered, extending her hand. The smile on her face grew wider still. "And you?" Her other hand was preoccupied fetching a nearby schedule. She looked back at it for an instant and smirked. She'd have a clean shot at the Slytherins on Tuesdays and Thursdays...that is, if they misbehaved.

The letter from her aunt was still folded out neatly in her lap. She re-read the last words in her head.

"Be good. Be safe. Make friends."

She couldn't say much for being good, but she was safe so far, and she'd made a few friends already. Looking back at Amelia, she wondered what her family had sent her. Were they worried? Did they miss her? Sarah let out a quizzical grunt as she felt inside her envelope again. A little scrap of paper had been stuffed in there at the last minute. She recognized her little brother's handwriting.

"I promise, some day soon, I'll have enough magic for the both of us.

Come home safe.
"

Merrick. Sarah knew what he meant quite well. She discreetly slipped the note inside the now neatly folded letter, and put it back into the envelope, tucking it into her robes, close to her heart. Her mind went back to when they were kids together, and he would only speak to her, and her alone.

Sarah was sitting outside on the porch, looking sullen. Screams and crashes were coming from inside the house.

"A Squib! A ruddy SQUIB! SHE IS A DISGRACE to my bloodline!"
"Esther, please. She's our daughter..."

Another crash sounded through the room. Her mother had been drinking again.

"DON"T YOU EVER call that THING my daughter!" She screeched.

Tears welled up in Sarah's eyes. She tried to wipe them away on her sleeve and pretend all was normal, tracing a little heart in the frost. A little boy with black hair and brown eyes peered at her from around the corner. The two caught the other's eye, staring for some time, unspeaking. Sarah was the one to look away first, hanging her head in shame, hair brushing snow on the ground. The boy began to cry and ran forward, flinging himself around his sister.

"I don't care what they say." He said, determination in his voice. "You're my sister, and that's all that matters."

Sarah looked up at him, her face blank and emotionless. "Besides..." He went on, forcing a teary smile. "...someday, I'll be a wizard, right? I'll have enough magic for the both of us. I'll protect you. You'll see..."

After some time had passed, Sarah let out a cold chuckle. "Merrick, you were always the sweet one...but you aren't in any position to pity me, you know?"

Merrick's eyes brimmed with tears again. "What...why...I wasn't..." Sarah stood up, only a few inches taller than her brother, and held him close.

"I've been getting better." She whispered. "I even fused my bed with the dresser last night. I'm getting better the more I learn. Soon, I can even start calling myself an alchemist." The boy's eyes widened. "Sarah, you're too young."

"So are you" She said. "To try and protect me." She let go of him, smiling. Her brother was shaking, his hands curled into fists. "I'm not..." He said defiantly. "Then...then neither are you! But still, even if you grow up to become a master of it...I promise! I promise I'll protect you! I'll have enough magic for the both of us...you'll see..."

Sarah only looked back at him and smiled.

"I know."

"I'm Peter," he shook Sarah's hand then to turned to the rest of the 1st year Gryffindors. "Guess what - there's this Slytherin, Tupac, he tried to put me in a body bind. I cast 'Tarantallegra' on him. He's probably still dancing just outside the Great Hall." He burst into laughter.

"Peter! You really shouldn't have. He might be awful, put you can't cast spells in the corridors - it's against the rules." Amelia said firmly before eating the last bite of a pancake. Peter only rolled his eyes, Michael joined in Peter's laughter.

"Honestly Amelia - I know who that is. He is awful - and he deserved that." Amelia cared too much about rules in Michael's opinion.

At that moment Professor Cole, head of Slytherin came towards them. Professor Glays followed, with Tupac, as well as Tenoch and Isaiah. All four Slytherins wore a smirk. "Peter." Cole summoned him to stand up.

Peter stood up, trying to hold down his laughs, "yes sir." he said in a mocking tone.

"Tupac claims you are the one who made him dance uncontrollably? Is this true?"

Peter nodded, with a glint of mischief. "But he..."

The head of Slytherin cut him off, "Professor Glays is the head of your house. She will decide your punishment." He looked around at the other 1st years near Peter. "Ah, Miss Cameron," he looked straight at her, "the squib." He said this as loud as he possibly could without yelling.

Amelia jumped up in anger, as Professor Glays stepped forward. "Balthazar, I'll take it from here." Professor Cole smirked then at Amelia before leaving.

All three Slytherin boys made a face of triumph at Peter and marched away.

Michael was confused at what had just happened and he turned to Amelia and Sarah with a quizzical look.

Professor Glays turned her attention to Peter. "Now you know casting in the halls is forbidden. I'm afraid I'll have to dock Gryffindor 5 points," she said this with a sigh.

Amelia couldn't help giving off a look of I-told-you-so, before she got up and left to get her Herbology book.

Peter wasn't sure how to react, but he noticed the other Gryffindors around him didn't seem to care much - it was only five points. He also was confused about why Amelia had gotten so angry and about what Cole had called Sarah.

Sarah's eyes widened at the word. The spite behind it had kept her frozen for a second. She looked around, but Amelia had already left. Just as soon, however, she stood, a forced grin adorned her face. "I prefer 'Alchemist', actually." She said quietly to no one in particular, and now headed back to her common room to grab her books. Hopefully Herbology would prove a safer ground for her. She'd handled magical plants before. As she left sight of the others, her smile faded.

"Password?" Called a talking apple from the still life portrait in the entrance. "Friendship." She said curtly, beginning to feel frustrated.

The portrait swung open, revealing a long, narrow hallway with striped black and gold cloth draped over it. As soon as she walked in, the room was silent. Miles Darwin stared back at her, then looked away just as quickly. A few others who had just gotten back from breakfast did the same. Most turned their back to her, pretending to be striking up a conversation to the one next to them. Some giggled under their breath. A black cat sat at the other end of the room, wagging his tail irritably.

"Sarah, grab your things!" She did not hesitate to follow her Master's orders today, and quickly scurried out the door toward her Herbology class.

"What was that about?! What did I tell you about keeping a low profile?" Sarah turned beet red. "I didn't, Master...it was the head of Slytherin. Professor Cole, I think." As she walked, she slipped the wooden wheel onto her left wrist, now out from her bag. Her wand was still in there, and now the pen as well.

"Do I look like I care about that right now?! Sarah, Squibs make enemies, especially if they want to be treated as equals. They'll try to take you down."
"No they won't..."
"They'll KILL you, Sarah! Just like they used to do in the Dark ages. They will try to kill you!"

The girl paused, stopping in the middle of the hallway. Her face was hidden behind her long brown hair. "In that case..." She said quite seriously. "I'll be ready."

They stopped outside of a large greenhouse. Severus had not let her out of sight since they'd met up. There was no sign of anyone she knew as of yet. A few Gryffindors had shown up early as well. Sarah walked across the room toward them and took a seat on the stool opposite.

((Oh, wow! I just looked up a list of Hufflepuff students. Did you know Tonks was in there? I must have forgotten. X) ))

((ooc://lol, yeah I knew. I don't remember if it was said in the books though. JKR might've said it in an interview. And you can create the herbology professor if you like - we can all take turns creating the different professors, adults, and NPCs. Feel free to give other distinct personalities. as I stated in the first post. And in greenhouse 1 there are gonna be desks, since 1st years get lectured so much... Greenhouse 2&3 wouldn't have any though.))

Michael and Peter both looked at each other with a quizzical brow as Sarah stomped off. Peter had ignored Amelia's annoying told-you-so, and was wondering about alchemist and squib.

Aden and Kailas both seemed to notice the other boys' confusion, so they went off explaining. Nicholas apparently didn't know either, he seemed as new to this stuff as Michael, which was comfort. Michael was realizing there were actually quite an amount of students who didn't know they were even a wizard or witch until they got their letter.

After Aden and Kailas finished, Michael now understood why Amelia had gotten so angry when Professor Cole made a spectacle of Sarah being a squib. All five boys then realized they were going to be late for Herbology if they didn't hurry up.

Amelia arrived at Greenhouse 1 and searched out Sarah. She took a seat next to her. "I'm sorry, Professor Cole is just awful. It's not just you though. He favors his house and picks on any muggle-born, blood traitor, or squib. Don't take it too harshly." She assured Sarah.

Then the boys came in, quickly taking a seat just as class began. Michael sent Sarah a smile assuring her he didn't care. Amelia gave Peter a cross look, Michael a smile, then turned to the professor.

The professor immediately started talking, "Herbology is the study of Magical and Mundane plants and fungi. In Herbology you will learn to care and utilize plants, and learn about their magical properties, and what they are used for. Many plants provide ingredients for potions and medicine, which is why it is very related to Potions, while others have magical effects of their own right."
