Kain had readied Sylph by then and led the horse out of the stable, he glanced at Soirka "To the seal we've got skeletons to smash" he said chuckling. He looked up at the sound of clanking armour similar to his own, "Hey guys*" he called until his eyes fell on Samantha. He sighed "Oh great what happened to Trent?" he asked the nearest of the group. The black haired paladin shook his head "No idea he wasn't ordered to join this mission in fact he's a little annoyed at that Kain" the man said glaring a bit.

Meanwhile in the crypt of the seal Lana the Vampiric mistress and bodyguard of Kanis Ordan sat and watched. Kanis along with four Acolytes sat surrounding an indented steel seal. They'd been at it for a solid week by this time, She glanced at there tired up prisoner and considered feeding. However Kanis's strict orders and warnings dissuaded her, from disobeying him. **

(*NPC or extra characters I don't care, Who shall otherwise receive throw away FF character names. Ie Biggs, Wedge, Jess.

We have four acolytes weaklings in combat about 2hp a piece they'll run if possible. Kanis and Lana both will stay and fight although the former will use skeleton guards to fight for him.)

((If anyone wants to control Lana I don't mind.)

Refer to Beastery in the "Important stuff section".

Once Rihara realised that her comrades were beginning to get moving, she also finished a small drink she had ordered, and paid the barman. She rushed upstairs gathered her belongings into her backpack, and jogged back downstairs, gently tossing the key back to the Inn keeper.

When she exited the Inn, Rihara first noticed the troubled look in Soirka's eyes, and made a mental note to ask what was wrong when she had the chance. As the demoness looked around, she noticed several paladins standing near to a rather angry looking Kain. Rihara was puzzled by this, until she saw the woman who she'd noticed leave his room earlier in the day standing nearby, looking smug. Rihara rolled her eyes, and with certain aggression in her eyes walked up to Samantha:
"So...decided to tag along have we?" She asked rhetorically, with some venom in her voice, her arms crossed in front of her.

Soirka watched Rihara confront Samantha with a smirk upon her face then she turned to Kain "Which way are you heading? I will meet you outside the gate, I have a matter of business to attend to," she spoke.

Kain shrugged at the statement of Biggs "Not my fault you think I asked for her?" he asked rhetorically turning to at the sound of trouble. He sighed clearly this was going to be trouble, glancing at Soirka he spoke "You should catch us up, we head south east towards the lizards mouth" he said turning to mount Sylph.

Samantha sneered at the comment "I thought you demons were proud and not the pets of we paladins" she said tauntingly.

(Gah not much sorry >.<)

"Ha! Don't flatter yourself...I thought you paladins were honourable and virtuous...not vindictive, possessive bed-hoppers..."Rihara said a nasty smile on her face "Don't you have the intelligence and common-sense to realise when someone doesn't want you?" Rihara said dryly.

Rihara quickly realised that Kain wanted to get under way, and moved to ask permission to mount Sylph. Turning back to Soirka and moving closer to her, Rihara quietly mouthed "What's wrong?" Rihara could sense something was wrong with her new friend, and truely wanted to help her.

Samantha seethed with anger at that comment and she barely resisted the urge to strike Rihara. Instead of doing that she turned on her heel* and went off to mount her own horse. Kain glanced at the other paladins and they each mounted there horses "Rihara, Soirka we need to hurry" he said glancing up to the sky.

He was waiting for that warning the beam of light that would burst from the shrine when the seal was at it's weakest. The final defence and beacon to tell those who knew that a seal was close to breaking.

(*Not sure if that's the right spelling.)

Soirka also glanced at the sky instinctively but for another reason to kain. "You set off, I will catch you up... Alchaeon may be with me or he may join you..." she answered for she did not know from which direction he would come.

fly like the wind, my love, for trouble brews...

She then turned and disappeared into the crowd.

Rihara sneered as Samantha was clearly trying to restrain her anger. She quickly bowed to Sylph before sitting in the saddle, leaving room for Kain to mount. She didn't want to offend the horse a second time!
It wasn't until she'd gotten on Sylph that she really noticed Soirka disappear into the crowd. Rihara was beginning to wonder what drove the Dark Angel on, what force pulled her away from her comrades?

Pondering this, Rihara began to anxiously look at Kain:

"Kain...what are we waiting for?"

Kain shook his head and mounted he called out to Soirka "We'll see you there" he said before turning to face the gates. He kicked Sylph sides and Sylph ran off through the gates the other paladins following "Hold on tight we'll be going fast and tell us if you spot a beacon" he said as he pressed Sylph to his maximum speed.

"What kind of beacon Kain?...Or will I know it when I see it?" Rihara said as Sylph thundered through the gates. She had no idea what Kain had meant, but as he had mentioned the "beacon" so cryptically she had the vague suspicion that she would certainly know the signal if she saw it...

Kain nodded at that "You will know it it'll come from where we going. There could even be a piercing angelic screech when that happens" he said Sylph still riding on. A few hours passed* and they finally reached the Lizards mouth temple. The seal was on the upper part of the lizards mouth and appeared as just another church.

The horses came to a stop and Kain dismounted followed by his fellow paladins. He assumed Rihara and** Soirka would follow as they entered the building. The hall of the church was a mess the pews had been ripped from there set places. Clearly the people behind this didn't know exactly where the door was located. Kain frowned matching the glances a few of his comrades sent him, "By Cecilia's light" was uttered by one of them perhaps Biggs.

(*So we can get there and Kim can allow herself to have caught up within that time.
**If she's there.))

Rihara's eyes widened as she saw the butchery of the Chapel that housed the seal.
"Kain...how could this happen? Has the seal been broken..could...could we have missed the signal...are we too late?" Rihara asked her voice filled with hesitancy and concern.
She wandered close to her comrades, her hand closing around the hilt of her blade, her sensitive nose twitching for the stench of evil or death. If there was anything negative still present, she was likely to gather the scent, thus giving her and her companions time to react.

Kain shook his head "No it can't have we would have seen the signal" he muttered eyeing his comrades. To be honest the out burst that was uttered after Rihara's question surprised none of the other paladins. "And what would a whore of a demon care about the desecration of a holy place of worship?" spoke the harsh voice of Samantha.

To her that was the perfect chance. This demon was with her betrothed far to much already. She'd take any and every chance she got at the demon, but it surprised the others. The others were so calm they'd already accepted the demon and fallen angels presence, yet not her*.

Meanwhile below Kanis's eyes snapped open his from his spell casting position "So we have intruders, do we?" he asked as he stood up. Him leaving the spell would slow the breaking down but not by much, his orders had always been not to use his whole power. The more power he used the more watched he would be, his mission was far to important for that. He glanced at Lana "I believe we have intruders, take a few skeletons and find out what. Report back immediately unless the people are mere peasants you are not to engage them recklessly. Is that understood Lana?" he queried walking towards the back of the room.

(*Says a lot about her personality doesn't it. XD

Rihara simply levelled a caustic look at Samantha and didn't bother responding to the foolish and pointless comment. She returned back to her watchful state, hoping that simply ingnoring the woman would be infuriating enough. Rihara was beginning to pick up an unholy scent, and it was making the hairs on her neck stand on end... She didn't realise it at the time, but the stirrings of a necromancer and his horde were the reason for her alertness;
"Everyone...I can smell the scent of...wrongness somewhere close.." She said as she drew her red-bladed sword in preperation...

Lana elegantly got up from her seat beside her now fully conscious master. She was a slim, angular woman, with waiste long, fine black hair, and eyes so green that they seemed to glow of their own accord. Her armour was pitch black, spiked and shapely, adding to her already stunning looks. She truely was beautiful, but behind her beauty, a malice lingered that everyone who met her could sense...if they weren't already dead and drained of blood of course.
She bowed and smiled, flashing two pearly-white canines in the direction of the gaunt necromancer beside her;

"With pleasure my Master...No recklessness....I understand..." She said, her voice as elegant as the mouth it was born from. She clicked her fingers, and five creaking skeletons followed her as she began to ascend from the underground shrine. Oh..she was going to enjoy this...

Kain nodded and drew his hammer glancing at the others. Biggs the most pious of the group of friends as already holding his hammer. In fact he'd been holding it as soon as they entered the run down chapel. Wedge and Jess followed Kains lead not trusting Rihara as such, but not voicing there opinion through such snide and uncouth comments.

Kanis watched Lana leave the skeletons following now he was alone except for the cultists and four suits of armour. The later of course would never speak as Kanis only ever put enough energy in the spirit summoning to make the suits move. Really they were just a form of zombie that happened to well not rot, add the point that they were just as skilled and loyal as skeletons. Kanis would continue to have the walking sheets of iron guard him, zombies and skeletons they were just cannon fodder.
