Muse stood by and watched Ona as he hunted the frogs. He had picked a particularly large one and she was watching to help with the kill in case he did not deliver a final blow. Her eyes narrowed as he brought down his hoof.

It was injured but not yet dead. Onarasuto had not quite figured out where the soft spot on the creature's head was...

"One more time, little brother. And then you will have dinner."

Onarasuto blinked a bit as he noticed that his blow did not kill the creature. So before it could somehow get away, he did what Muse said and brought his hoof down onto it again, hoping this time it would finished off the injured frog.

"Did I get it?" he asked as he peered down again at his prey.

Muse nodded. The frog now lay quite still underneath her little brother's heavy foot. She noticed that the croakings were now fewer between. Moving very silently, she edged up to a particularly fat amphibian and brought her sharp beak down on it.

One peck to the head killed it instantly.

Gathering her kill up in her mouth, she swallowed it in two bites. "When you are a little more skilled and a little more quiet, I will teach you how to kill with your beak. Do not under estamate either for hoofs and beak make very formidable weapons."

As Onarasuto was just about to start on his frog, he saw Muse go off and peck another one to death. Blinking in amazement with her skill, he had to shake his head rapidly to snap out of his dazed state. Then smiling, he nodded to her, understanding her words.

He then picked up his catch and went over to a spot to eat his meal.

"I really hope that I can become as skilled as you are, for it seems that you are a master at everthing!"

"I may be about two seasons older than you, perhaps three. But while you have only really had me to help you, I once had a clan and a family." She stopped and looked away towards the SharpTooth Mountains.

How long had it been since she left? The days had flown by and deep down, she still missed being around others of her kind. Muse would always stick out in the valley.

"Even though I had many others around me to teach, there are many things that they did not teach me. Hopefully, I am doing right teaching you what I know..."

Quieting down once more, Onarasuto let out a small sigh and nodded. He had a feeling it wasn't such a good thing to remind her of what she had lost, as he was certain she would long for them, even if it seemed that she had left them on bad terms.

"Well, I am still very grateful for your teachings," he said softly, "Afterall, what good is knowledge if you do not share it?"

Muse continued to stare at the mountains but listened intently to Ona's words. Would any male here find her attractive? Would she ever have any children of her own to teach? These were questions that she pushed down deep along with the hurt.

"Someday Ona, you may know the reason why I left. You will probably be the only one here who does..."

Shaking her head ruefully, she gave a quick smile. "Come on, little brother. I have much to teach you but it is hard to do on an empty stomache. I know that one little frog did not fill you up."

Onarasuto nodded slowly with her words before he start to eat away at his catch. He did not mind if he was the only one that would be told about her reasons for leaving her home and her kin. If anything, being told such information would just let him know how much she trusted him and such.

It was then that he realized he no longer had a frog to eat. Blinking, he wondered how he had eaten it so quickly. His sister was right, it really didn't do much to fill him. Shaking his head, he got up and smiled at Muse, ready to catch another frog.

"Do you have any suggestions on killing the frogs quickly?"

Nodding, she began to sneak slowly towards a softer ribbiting sound. Her violet eyes flashed and the moonlight caught her pendant. Slowly, she spoke so as not to spook her prey.

"Just as slow and quiet approach. This time, use your beak to peck the spot between the eyes."

Moving like a ghost, Muse pecks down hard and kills a smaller frog. She eats it quickly and then sits down. Frogs would not fill her up, she would have to go hunting later or perhaps just after sunrise.

Onarasuto gave her a slight nod before inching towards the source of another frog's call. It was a slightly bigger creature than his previous kill, but he knew it still wouldn't be enough for a meal. Blinking as he slowly approached, he lashed out at it, aiming for the spot Muse had pointed out.

The frog didn't expect it, but Ona's aim was a bit off. So he had to quickly stamp onto it before it could get away. It worked, but it wasn't as efficient as his sister's hunting.

Shaking his head, he ate the frog and listened for another one. Perhaps one or two more would be enough for him, depending on the size of his prey.

Muse studied him very carefully as he continued the hunt. He would be a strong one once he matured. Soon, she thought, he would not be the child that she was fond of... He would be a formidable hippogriff to deal with... And she would remember when he hunted frogs..

Muse remained silent as he continued to hunt. Frogs were her only solution right now. Violet eyes stared and body remained still as her little brother continued to hunt.

"Good job, Onarasuto."

After catching a few more frogs, Onarasuto stopped and made his way back to his older sister. He had a satisfied grin on his face, which most likely meant he had managed to eat his fill.

"Thanks. But I am sure that you would need something more to fill your stomach. Why don't you go ahead and catch yourself a better meal. I'll be fine here for awhile."

Nodding along with this, he stretched out for a moment before sitting down. The hippogriff just figured he could relax and rest a little while she went out to hunt or something like that.

Muse looked at him and nodded. She saw the satisfaction on his face of having caught his own meal and filled his belly. Getting up and stretching her legs, the demonic griff blinked and looked about...

"That sounds like a good idea. Perhaps a smaller creature to fill me up..."

She flicked her tail back and forth with the prospect of hunting. A squirrel or a masked one would do just nicely.

"If you can find your way back to our cave, I can meet you there?"
PostPosted: Sat Sep 09, 2006 1:13 pm

"I will wait for you there then," said Ona with a nod. With a slight smile, he glanced behind him and trotted off towards the cave they both called home.

He remembered the way there, but it was strange because the last time he was there, he was but a little hatchling. Everything just seemed to be a lot smaller to him now, and he just found that amusimg to some extent. And it generally didn't take him too long before he passed up the giant berry bush and went on his way.

Sometime later, he entered the cave and just stared at his little nest for a bit. It was way too small for him now.

I need to fix that...

Shaking his head, he headed back out to grab a few materials that he could use for bedding. He figured that he could get extra for Muse as well, in case she didn't want to just lay on the bare cavern floor to sleep.

Muse was actually glad that Ona had left her to go hunting by herself. She needed time to clear her thoughts and prepare herself for hunting. Nodding in his direction, she turned and trotted away from the frogs and into the meadow.

Sometimes, her eyes were look toards the mountains but she only shook her head to herself. No more.. No more was she of the SharpTooth Clan... Muse snorted to herself. Instinct took over and Muse's nostrils took in the scent of rabbit, raccoon and many other animals who roamed at night.

It was a good time to hunt.
